The necklace

When Chris left, Crystal sat beside his bed. Then her sight fell upon a tray placed on the table, with his belongings kept in it.

She took his driver's license and read out his name. "Elysian, hmm quite a unique name.", she said as she put it back.

His wallet and watch were pretty expensive. It seemed like he was a wealthy man.

" I want many answers from you Elysian. I know that you know something about Nicholas.", she said and took out her laptop from her bag. She did a quick search about him but didn't found anything. "He isn't a famous person.", she murmured.

Then she opened the folder having the footage from that restaurant where Shelby went missing.

Jonathan and she herself have seen the footage twice before buy couldn't find anything suspicious. She once again played it and looked at the details. She saw Shelby entering the restaurant wearing a beautiful necklace but when she was waiting at her table, there was no necklace around her neck.

After contemplating for some time, she played the footage recorded by another camera that was covering the restroom's entrance.

She saw Shelby entering the restroom before going to her table. And after some time, she left the restroom without the necklace. Soon after, Melissa was seen coming out of the restroom wearing the same necklace as Shelby.

"This means that they both knew each other. And there must be something about that necklace that's why Shelby gave it to Melissa. And we were so busy looking for the kidnapper, we forgot to see the details." Crystal was lost in thought staring at the screen when suddenly she thought as if she saw something familiar in the video.

She reversed it and then she saw the man who was present during Simon's abduction, dressed like a cleaning staff.

" This man, again... he, I need to get him no matter what.", she said as she closed her laptop.

She once more looked at Elysian. He seemed like he was sleeping peacefully. "Atleast someone is sleeping soundly", she said.

She again got lost in her thoughts,"Where could Melissa hide that necklace?

Is it that they found her before she could hide it?..."

Suddenly she heard something fell down. When she opened her eyes, she was shocked to see that Elysian was awoke. "But the doctor said she gave him sedative...", she thought when Elysian began removing the wires attached to his body and tried to stand but because of weakness, he collapsed on the floor. Seeing this, Crystal rushed towards him. When she held his arm to help him stand, he shoved her away.

"Elysian! Calm down. I won't hurt you, I'm here to help", she said with gentle but commanding voice.

" You're all the same", he said in a heavy voice.

"Every time I'm sent to hospital, instead of letting me go you all end up sending me to that place.", he continued.

" That place?", she was confused if he was high on the sedative.

"Look at you, acting like you don't know anything.", he said mocking her.

" Elysian, look here. Trust me. I'm here to help you. Tell me what's going on?", she asked holding his hand trying to comfort him.

"If you are really here to help me then you must know that those who you think are saving me, actually trying to kill me.", he said resting his head on his knees.

" But they are helping you recover your health. Aren't they? ", she sounded confused. She didn't know whom to trust.

" Take me out of here, please. It's not like I'll run away in this condition and you can always do what you want with me if I am lying.", he looked at her with tears in his eyes.

After thinking for a while, she helped him get up and made him sit on the bed. "I don't know where you came from or why Nicholas was after you or if what you are saying is true. Helping you means taking risk with my job. If you ran away then I'll lose my job. But still I'll take the chance. I want to know what's going on.", she said looking in his eyes.

" Are you really going to get me out of here? You're not making fool of me like others. Right?", he asked like a child whose mother promised him to buy his favourite toy as a present.

"You've to trust me.", she said with a calm voice.

When she turned to pick up her phone, she saw someone's shadow near the door. " I'll come soon", she said and went outside.

But no one was there. "I'm sure I saw someone", she said to herself. " What if whatever Elysian is saying is true, he is in grave danger then. And if there was really someone near the door then that person must've heard our conversation. I need to do something quickly to avoid suspicion.", thinking this she ran towards the doctor's cabin.

"Doctor please come with me. The patient woke up and is talking nonsense. I think he got high because of sedatives.", she said panicking.

The doctor then filled an injection with a clear liquid and they both walked towards his room.

Upon reaching the room, they saw him sitting on the bed. " Go hold his other hand so that he won't move and I can do my work,", the doctor instructed Crystal.

She obediently did what she was told to do. Elysian, on the other hand felt betrayed and started screaming and struggling,"You bloody liar, I knew you all are the same. Just kill me at once..."

Crystal felt bad for doing this to him but to avoid the suspicion, she had to do something. He was struggling but he was too weak to move when she held him on place.

Soon his struggling stopped and it seemed like he slept.

"It's important for him to rest. You did right by calling me", the doctor said.

She smiled in return and the doctor went to her cabin.

The whole night she was thinking of a plan to take Elysian out of the hospital.

Next morning she woke up with Jonathan's voice.

" Wake up, Crystal. Why didn't you went home?", he asked worrying.

She opened her eyes and looked at Jonathan suddenly she stood up and rushed towards Elysian to check him. When she saw him breathing, she breath a sigh of relief.

Jonathan, who was startled by her unexpected behavior asked her if anything happened to him.

And despite answering him she asked, "You came alone?"

"No, Chris is outside the room".

After knowing that with Chris outside, no one can eavesdrop them she told everything that happened the previous night.

" Don't tell me you are really planning to do that.", Jonathan said eyeing her.

"But we've to help him if he's really in danger"

"You don't know if he is telling the truth. You can't just trust anyone."

"But we must find out if it's true or not. He can tell us about all this if he is really a victim."

"What if he's just using you to escape?"

"What if his life is really in danger? Besides we already saw him being beaten by Nicholas. And all we have to do is to find out if he is lying or not."

"Crystal, don't behave like a child. I'm against it.", he said.

After arguing for sometime they both came to an agreement. They decided to conduct a blood test to find out about Elysian's actual health condition. And their next course of action would completely depend upon the result of the blood test.

Jonathan made a small cut on the skin between Elysian's toes using a blade he used to carry in his wallet and then wiped the blood with his handkerchief. When the blood stopped flowing, they both left the hospital instructing Chris to keep an eye on doctor's every move and to report immediately if he suspects anything.

" Where are we going to conduct a test now?", It was visible from his voice that Jonathan was frustrated.

"In our forensic lab", Crystal suggested.

" And how exactly are we going to do that? If we've to move him out of that hospital after this test then we'll be suspected. They'll ask us how we found this handkerchief with his blood on it ", he asked.

"We need to go to Melissa's house first", she said with a serious expression.

" Now what's with her house? Seriously, tell me what do you think of me, your driver?These days you don't even tell me anything that you find out.", he stopped the car and started complaining like a 3 year old kid.

She was amused by his reaction. Holding her laughter she was about to say something when he yelled again," You are laughing??? This is funny to you? You make me doubt about me being your colleague. I am being treated like a mere driver since past few days"

She was so done with him overreacting that she pulled his ear,

"Stop making a fuss I was about to tell you. Listen quietly"

She explained him everything she noticed in the footage.

"Okay sso we have to find out that necklace", he said rubbing his ear.

Meanwhile Jack, whom Jonathan met when he went to investigate about the school; was in the city standing outside Teffie's apartment talking in his phone. Then after looking at the apartment for some time, he left.
