A Baby For Jiang Cheng

Unable to stand the intense look in their sect leader's eyes, some of the young lads broke down in tears. The look of loathing in Jiang Cheng's eyes was worse than the harsh tone at which he was using to address his disciples.

"Sect Leader Jiang Cheng! How are we supposed to know what you want? It's a riddle that only you can find the answer to.... please don't put us in such a difficult position...."

Despite being terrified, one of the disciples spoke up for the others by letting out their thought. It was a sensitive matter that none was willing to jump into the fire for, even though their opinion was sought.

"Ha! I'm giving you a chance to decide the fate of this child and neither of you can give me a concrete solution?! Why did I even bother to ask a bunch of lazy good-for-nothings!"

"Sect Leader, do not be angry with us!"

Every disciple in the hall except the one who was carrying the baby, took to their knees. Begging their sect leader to look favorably on them.

Angered to the point of seeing red, Jiang Cheng suddenly turned around and placed the crumpled piece of paper on the baby's blanket. His disciples pleaded with Jiang Cheng, thinking that he would harm the sleeping baby when they saw how he spinned from them to face the child in a threatening way. The crackling sound of Zidian sharply hit the ground at Jiang Cheng's feet.

"Sect Leader! The baby is innocent! Please put Zidian away!"

The voices grew louder, their wails of terror made the look in Jiang Cheng's eyes to become colder.

Breaking out in sweat, the disciple who held the basket then began trembling. His hands shook so much that he almost let go of the baby that was sleeping in it.

"This child is not normal! How can he be sleeping when everyone is crying on his behalf!"

When his eyes clashed with those of his sect leader, the nameless disciple who held the baby lost his train of thought. Gulping down a mouthful of saliva to ease throat that had become dry with fear.

Suddenly, the unexpected took place. The child whose name none in the hall knew except for Jiang Cheng. Swaddled with eyes still closed, tiny delicate fingers latched onto those of Jiang Cheng which rested on the crumpled letter. Making wet soft cooing sounds.

"KOO....KOO..... KOO....KOO..."

Stunned by the sudden human contact, a strange look passed in the eyes of Jiang Cheng, along with a nameless sensation.
