Thirty Seconds

[Author: The next chapter will be the end of the third arc. There will be a brief pause of one month before the beginning of the final arc.]

Heading out of the school, they all noticed how empty was the streets. Since this would be a huge battle, All the civilians had long been evacuated to a safe place, leaving all the four sectors clean of any non-elemental master.

After ensuring that there are no civilians on the streets, Artemis divided all the people in teams of four, water, fire, wind and earth and send them to blocks of the city. In this way, each team would be balanced and would cover for their own weakness.

Soon, she returned to Roderick and reported the situation."Roderick, everyone is ready. How long until the barrier closes?"

Roderick replied in a tense voice. "About five minutes. Be ready."

The thin layer of energy that separated the red fluid from the city turned faint as it showed signs of breaking, the force field generator at the bottom of the city was about to explode when the barrier suddenly shut down.

"The barrier is gone, prepare yourselves!" With his eye locked on both Artemis and Nerys with her Brother in the same group with two others, he waved his hand as a golden spear appeared. It was the Sky Shattering Spear given to him by Sky.

The moment he touched the shaft of the spear, a golden light appeared and flowed to the tip that shone in the brilliant light.

"Now!"

The moment the blood sea infiltrated the city, it took the form of several thousand blood red golems.

Earth and Fire Fusion Art: Burning Meteor! The fire and earth element masters had long since prepared their counter attack. Joining hands, fire and earth combined to bring forth an advanced elemental art.

The air itself ignited into flames as a dozen rocks lying on the ground, bathed in its fire as the Earth-element masters shot the meteors on the blood golems. As for those from big families, they used their families elemental arts.

However, the blood golems melt right before being hit and then transformed back while a wave of blood washed over the two groups in the northern sector marked leaving their bones.

Water-element art: Healing Ray! From the distance, Nerys gathered water at the tip of her fingers and let it flow before she shot rays of water, healing their scars and injuries in real time.

"Gaius, follow me."

"Yes sis." Gaius stepped forward and with a huge Warhammer in hand, he smashed down on a golem before it melts and flew towards him. Luckily, a wind-element master nearby noticed his danger and used the elemental art: Wind Orb to hold the creature in a sphere of wind and thew it far away.

The fight was hard and as their forces couldn't defeat many golem as it could melt and return to their form soon after while the numbers of elemental masters kept decreasing.

"Nerys!" Behind Gaius was a thin drop of blood left on the ground that suddenly awake and turned into a blood arrow as it shot itself toward Nerys while Gaius and the others were busy holding off the golems.

Buzzz.... Pang! The moment was frozen when a single thunderbolt appeared out of nowhere. A flash of blue light and then three or four golems were extinguished in a single blow.

Artemis held her bow high as her arrow flew across the city towards the golems. Her arrow could give much damage, but the her self-created elemental art: Perferct Trajectory made possible for her to enable wind element in each arrow while freely controlling its trajectory.

At that moment, all the golems stopped moving. Then the as if attracted towards each other, the golems started to meld into the other golems forming a huge mass of blood just like what he saw in the death zone. The mass of blood spread swiftly it unleashed a wave of blood towards the southern sector.

Boom! Followed by a huge explosion, the area where the southern sector was supposed to be was replaced by a huge crater.

Roderick was tense when he called Sky in his Obelisk. "Sky, how much time do we have?"

Most masters were tired as most of the northern sector was nowhere to be seen other than its trails of destruction.

"Thirty seconds, but with the this golem within the city's perimeters it will also follow us when we teleport. We must get it out of where if we wish to leave. I can put the system on hold for approximately thirty minutes." A short reply came from the communicator and Roderick exclaimed. "Thirty seconds!? Right, then I will get you."

The air around him changed once again as he headed toward Artemis. The other also walked close while staring at the giant creature completely terrified. When Roderick approached, they've all focused their attention towards him, waiting for his words.

Stopping just a couple steps before Artemis, Roderick petted her head. "Mel, the city will teleport in thirty seconds. When you arrive wherever you arrive, I want you to read the letter."

"Brother?" The way Rodeick said those words made her realize the meaning behind his words and she started to despair. "No! Don't..."

She grabbed him by the neck, but then a small spark of lightning flew into her body and her body fell on his arm.

"I'm sorry." Roderick apologized as he carried her to Nerys, who accepted the body with a blank expression.

"I know you suffered a lot because of me and I didn't want you to know I was alive." He extended his hand towards her and cleaned her tears.

"Ahhh! Your bell." When she recovered from her daze, Nerys searched her pockets before extending her hand holding a little golden bell, but Roderick stopped her.

"I don't need it." With those words said he turned around and slowly walked away, heading towards the huge creature.

"Roderick!" Nerys called his name and he turned around. "Where are you going? Won't you return alive?"

His legs stopped for a moment, he reflected about something before giving his answer and vanished in a streak of lightning. "I don't know, however, even if I were to return, I won't be human anymore."
