I soon got an owl saying I would be teaching at Hogwarts and another letter from Dumbledore himself saying it was either me or that toad that was the undersecretary to the minister and I understood that I was a much better choice I told Elena I had a teaching job now she wasn't surprised so I started packing and preparing to head to Hogwarts as I would be staying there the next two years there as I finished I gave elena a kiss before walking out and disapperating their when I arrived was lead first to my room then to my classroom then I was to fend for myself so I sat down behind my desk and began making my lesson plans for the next year

I was sitting in the great hall watching the the older students enter as I refused to look at the high inquisitor what so ever when the first year sorting was complete headmaster Dumbledore stood up

"good evening everyone and welcome to another year of Hogwarts as such I would like to introduce to you your new defense against the dark arts teacher Thomas Jonathan Jerrison as well as our new high inquisitor Dolores Umbridge I hope you will give them a warm welcome also welcome back professor grubbly-plank as professor hagrid is on temporary leave also our caretaker Mr Filch would like me to remind you..." Dumbledore was cut off

"Thank you, Headmaster, for those kind words of welcome. And how lovely to see all your bright happy faces smiling up at me. I'm sure we're all going to be very good friends. The Ministry of Magic has always considered the education of young witches and wizard of vital importance. Although each Headmaster has brought something new to this historic school... progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged. Let us preserve what must be preserved, perfect what can be perfected and prune practices that ought to be prohibited" umbridge said

"thank you madame umbridge for the illuminating speech now as with previous years the forbidden forest is out of bounds to all students also doing magic in the hallways is prohibited now without further adieu let the feast begin" Dumbledore said and I knew this would be a long year of that idiot umbridge looking over my shoulder

I was thanking the good lord that it was Friday giving me a bit of time to adjust and as I only arrived this morning but Monday quickly arrived and it was time for my first lecture as such I was in class preparing my self as people started walking in they notice blaze as everyone sat down

"good morning class" I said the class quickly quieted down

"as you are aware I am Thomas Jonathan Jerrison your new defense against the dark arts teacher and I plan to break the trend of having a new defense against the dark arts teacher every year by being here from now on so get used to me now the next thing I am going to say is this is not a care of the magical creatures class as such I will be very rarely bringing up any said magical creatures that includes blaze" I said indicating the phoenix

"now with that being said enough with introductions take out your DADA textbooks and turn to page..." I said

*ahem* umbridge took that moment to enter the room and I internally signed let's get her over with I thought but my face was completely neutral thanks to being a master occlumance

"what can I do for you madame umbridge, as you can see I am about to start giving a lecture and would like to continue class without interruptions" I asked kindly

"of course dear but before you do so I would like to make a few announcements" she said

"of course go ahead" I said she nodded

"good morning, children, the ministry has noticed that the instructions of this class have been disturbingly uneven as such the ministry have taken steps to rectify this" she then took out her wand and waved it and the books disappeared replaced by new books at that I was annoyed but I let it slide it just meant more work for me to learn a new book and plan my lessons around it

"you all will be pleased to know that from now on, you will be studying from structured DADA books prescribed by the ministry, I am sure professor Jerrison is fine with this, right dear" umbridge said

"of course madame umbridge" I said

of Hermione being her already roughly went through the book

"but professor there are no practical spells in here"

I assure you, dear everything you need to pass your OWLs is in that book, there is no need for you to learn practical spells. this way students can Learn in a controlled and safer environment" umbridge said

"but how are we supposed to learn how to defend ourselves from what's out there" harry said like a true griffindor

"there is nothing out there dear, there is no reason for children like you to learn to defend yourselves" umbridge said and she was baiting harry like a politician trying to get a rise out of him

"yes there is we need to learn to defend ourselves from voldemort" harry said and there it was what umbridge wanted

"detention Mr potter for spreading baseless rumors and lies, I want you in my off..." umbridge said

"actually madame umbridge since you aren't a teacher and this is my class he will be spending detention with me" I said and she was shocked

"now to answer your previous question ms. granger I will teach practical spells myself I'm sure madame umbridge is fine with that right ma'am" I asked she was visibly upset but she can't dictate how a teacher teaches that's out of ministry jurisdiction

"of course professor Jerrison" she said

"now is that all of the announcements I would like to start my lecture" I asked

"yes, however as the high inquisitor I would like to observe your class" she said

"of course" I said and I went on with the lesson as though nothing happened she left right after that class ended and I was so glad the rest of my class went so much more smoothly and I knew I would be going home every weekend to de-stress
