*Ring ring!

Rubbing her half opened eyes, she sat up. "Who?"

Walking to her charged phone, she thought. 'Don't tell me it's the manager from the convenience store? I did skip my shift yesterday.. Urgh.. Well I can just say I got sick, right? I feel so guilty..."

She opened her phone. The caller was marked as an 'unknown number'. One thing's for sure, it wasn't her manager. She wasn't famous or anything, who would call her this early?

''Don't tell me, it's one of those scam calls?"

She hesitated a little, but decided to pick up the call.

"Hello?" She spoke.

"Hi. Is this Ms. Kim speaking?" A british woman's voice was heard.

'Don't tell me it's one of Jannette's fans or haters.'

"Uh.. If you are looking for Kim Ji-hwa Jannette, then you have the wrong number." She prepared to press the hang up button.

"Mm.. No, no! I'm looking for Kim Jingyi Johanna, who bought a couple's ring two weeks ago. At the price of 5 thousand dollars."

"Er.." Everything was exact! How! She thought. "That would be me. Do you have business with me?"

"I would like to meet you. My name is Andrea Wang, Tian's wife. Is six pm at Blossom cafe okay? I can change the hour if you want."

Hearing the title, Tian's wife, Jingyi panicked. Why would she want to meet her? Beat her up? Scream at her? Slap her? Mock at her?

"Eum. Er.." Jingyi didn't know how to respond. 'Well, I should settle things before things get worse.' "Ah, yeah..That would be fine, I might be late though.."

'I'd rather not attend!'

"Alright then. See you." She disconnected the call.

Jingyi blinked at the screen.

"A sweet voice. A kind personality. Who knows if those are fake. I think she'll rip me to shrewds if I meet her. I don't want to go!"

She headed towards the bathroom, to shower and sober up. Normally she would take a shower at night, she wasn't a morning person at all.

Drying her hair, she looked at the mirror. A reflection of an exhausted woman with a pair of green eyes was seen.

"You're so pitiful Johanna. Getting cheated and dumped indirectly." She sighed. "It seems that you aren't sad that he didn't love you...But sad because he took advantage of you.." Tracing a broken heart from the fog left on the mirror, she questioned. "Was it really love?"

She wore black glasses to hide her eyebag. Johanna never wore makeup, it was too burdensome. "Now that I, look, carefully, it was really for attention and one-sided affection."

"We were never on the same page. I was the one who agreed to everything, there were no mutual compromises. He only wanted to fool me."

She put away the hair drying, tied her hair in a ponytail and took a backpack. She stuffed it with random things. Like heating pads, extra clothes, a towel, ointment, hand sanitizer, band aids, and other things she might need. All these objects had something in common, they are used when facing an angry wife. 'Is this enough though?'

She glanced at the clock, it was 6 thirty. "I'm late!"

Taking her coat and a pastry, she hurried out the door. Double checking if she locked the door, she ran to the bus station. Fortunately, it stopped raining.

Arriving towards her work station she saw moving boxes and depressed employees. Seeing tired people around the office was normal, but not the boxes. Were people fired?

"Hey. What happened?" She asked her workmate. They were not very close, but not enemies.

Amélie rolled her eyes. "Urgh. You didn't read the Instagram post yesterday?"

"The wha-?" The company had an Instagram page? When, how? Should she start using social media?

"Obviously you're still stuck in the 19es." Amélie sighed. Twisting her short hair around her finger, she blew on her gum. "The CEO said the company is going bankrupt, so they'll move back to Canada. Obviously, people don't want to move to another continent, so they'll resign. Besides, it's in Québec, who here knows how to speak french?" Ironically, Amélie is a french name but this girl didn't know any french.

Originally, this business was created in Canada, but since the owner wanted to try business in Asia, they moved here. Of course, it didn't work out well.

"Well, here. I got some extra boxes. You better pack now, they already sold the building." Amélie picked up four stacked boxes. Amélie was a tall and strong woman, she was cold yet caring. Jingyi felt lucky to have her as her workmate.

"That's all for me…" She walked past Jingyi. Hiding her face behind the cardboard, she muttered. "It was nice meeting you Johanna. Thanks for being with me. You have my number right?"

"Yes! Thank you Amélie. I hope we'll meet again." She smiled. Amélie was a foreigner, it wasn't easy for her to get along with others. Jingyi felt a small connexion towards Amélie, since her father was also a foreigner. It isn't easy fitting in.

Johanna felt sad. The workplace she worked for 2 years, just after she started college was shutting down. Where could she find another good job like this one? A job that paid well, a job that had a good environment, a job for an undergraduate.

"I hope my luck isn't too bad.."

Her desk was not very organized, documents were everywhere, snack bags overfilling the garbage can, expired candy lying in the cupboard. It really wasn't in its best state. She put her belongings into the boxes Amélie gave her. Piling the flying documents and throwing useless things, in less than an hour, she was done. She picked it up, and nearly stumbled, it was heavy.

"Just how am I supposed to go home with this?" Since she used the bus. She should also go back with the bus, unless she booked a taxi. But, that was not an option, too expensive.
