My Girlfriend’s Dad: Part 1

Chase's POV

_____________

James Springland High became the best high school in the state for making it to state every year. Though I played as a quarterback I always admired the way our soccer team played. I spent the most mediocre three years of my life there, I was ready to leave. I walked through the halls with my AirPods in, I finger combed my ginger colored haired. I avoided eye contact often, only looking at the blue colored lockers and looking down occasionally at the different colored tiles. I always thought those tiles were unnecessary as f**k. I walked toward the ends of the hall and glanced over at the lockers like I've done a million times before then I spotted this girl, she laughed it up with the assistant principal. I scoffed, I hated people who befriended the staff because they had no friends. Just then the assistant principal, a heavy old white lady with glasses and that Karen f***ing hair cut pointed at me. I took out one air-pod "Yes."

"Uh, it's yes ma'am to you, young man", she gave me attitude.

The girl stared at me with her big teal eyes and dyed-black hair as her roots were a dark brown color. She wore dramatic eyeliner, and leaned against the lockers wearing a tank top and baggy basketball shorts. I stared at the woman without saying anything "Oh! Mr. Johnson, sorry to bother, it's just that we don't allow two AirPods in, only one in in case of emergencies, and you need a tardy pass."

I noticed she changed her demeanor when she recognized me as one of the star quarterbacks yet I kept to myself.

I glared at her "I'm heading home, I need to take care of my baby sister", I spoke very monotone. I kept walking, putting back in my AirPods .I glanced at that girl one more time as she had looked familiar. She looked back at me then immediately looked away. I pushed the double doors open before heading to the parking lot.

I pulled out my keys "Hey…Hey!", I heard a feminine voice yell from a distance.

I continued to ignore her whipping out my keys, she had finally caught up to my car "You dropped your wallet, dipshit!"

I glared at her "Please don't ever call me that."

She looked down at her toes "I'm sorry."

I relaxed my gaze "No, I'm sorry, thanks", I grabbed my wallet from her.

She stared at me briefly "Can I go with you?"

I stared at her briefly before nodding. I sat in the car briefly before connecting my phone via Bluetooth. I played some random song by Pantera.

The girl next to me was shaking her head back in forth, screaming at the top of her lungs in the best death metal voice I've ever heard.

I had to admit she definitely lightened the mood. I laughed pretty hard as I stopped at the red light.

She looked at me with confusion "What?", she giggled.

"Uh…nothing", I tried not to chuckle.

She smiled leaning back in the seat "I've never skipped school before! I'm excited!"

I scoffed out of disbelief that she was too much of a goody-two-shoes. "Well, you have to skip school at least once your senior year, or else you don't really get the true "highschool experience"."

She smiled at me "I guess so, but where are going to go?"

"My house, only briefly, and after that I don't know yet, but uh- what would your parents think?", I asked, as I was truly concerned about her getting in trouble.

When I glanced over at her, she had a look of shock on her face as if I asked her something that didn't need to be asked. " I don't particularly think they would be as worried as you think they are… why would you even ask that? Like… like… I know my dad is or was the Star player that won the championship … years ago. I know he had me when he was young… but just because I'm his daughter dosen't mean everyone should have high expectations of me! I'm my own person!"

She turned towards the passenger side door " Let me out, please", I heard her tear up.

I kept driving " I'm sorry I asked… I'll just drop you home, I have to get back to my little sister ."

She let go of the door handle "No. I apologize, I do, I shouldn't have snapped at you like that. I love my Dad I do, he's not the problem, I am."

I turned left at the signal as I passed the gas station heading towards home.

"May I ask about your home life?", I grind my teeth as I focused on the road more than I focused on her " I don't want to talk about it."

We approached my house as I took a right on a side road. My house was located in a nice gated community, the girl beside me looked amazed as I pulled into the driveway. "You have a nice house", she spoke.

"Thanks",I muttered.

I parked the car, as I lifted my hand break. "Stay in the car, I'll be back."

As I tried to leave the car she yanked on my hoodie. She looked down at her shoes before she glanced at me briefly "I need to pee."

I sighed "Just make it quick. She immediately followed me to the door "Once you go in, go straight pass the kitchen, then all the way down towards your left hand side should be where the bathroom is."

"Thank you", she muttered again.

I finally unlocked the door as she headed to the bathroom.

I headed the direction towards my sisters room. I knocked on the door " It's me", I raised my voice.

My sister opened the door slightly "Go away."

All I could see was a part of her face, hidden away in a hoodie and a strand of her platinum blonde hair. She wore my mother's blocky sunglasses.

I immediately opened the door, I snatched her sunglasses sensing something was wrong. I felt shivers down my spine when I saw her eye swollen shut. She started sobbing "He hates me! He hates me!", she cried. I felt useless as I saw my six year old sister have the worst panic attack she's ever had. I finally heard a door open. I immediately prepared myself to go into fight-or-flight mode. I knew it wasn't the bathroom door. I heard a glass bottle clink against the wall. "Olive! Olive! Where ya at?"

I heard his slurred speech almost immediately. "Run, run as fast as you can into the car. Here are the keys, lock the door until I come out, but let me step out first, peak out the door, make sure you see me push him into the kitchen before you run… okay?"

She nodded.

I stepped outside her room "The f*ck are you home for-, huh… I outta leave you like ya b*tch of a mother."

He came closer to me, as he lifted the bottle. I immediately shoved him into the kitchen counter. My sister immediately ran as I instructed her to.

He was a fat man, a strong, burly, fat man that reeked of alcohol. I pinned him down on the counter as he tried to over power me. "I'm going to kill you. I'll put you through twice as much pain, as you put this family through. You filthy piece of sh*t!"

I grabbed a kitchen knife from the drawer, he fought me back, finally kicking me in my stomach. The impact pushed me against the wall, head first.

He grabbed the knife, approaching me with it.

"You piece of sh*t child, all… all I ever did was- was- give you a life, and this is how you repay me… say hi to your mother in hell for me."

I squeezed my eyes shut preparing for the impact of the knife. Instead, the next thing I heard was the echo of a frying pan, then a large thud.

I opened my eyes to find Jackie as she dropped the frying pan "Let's go, now!"

My heart was pounding, we ran into the car. Jackie had called the police for me as we sat in the driveway. My sister cried from relief "She really did it?", she asked.

"She really hurt him?", she asked again.

"Thank you", she cried.

After Jackie ended the phone call. I stared at her as I teared up. "Thank you."

Jackie looked at me as she saw me shaking. I couldn't hold it in anymore. I sobbed, the only person I tried to stay strong for was my sister. But it was over. It was over. Jackie tightly hugged me as I refused to let her see my tears, I covered my face as she held me. I stared to calm down in a matter of minutes. How weird? At a time like this, how fucking impulsive of me. I kissed her, I did.

My sister had looked away just in time . Jackie pulled away "I'm sorry", I apologized.

Jackie and I were still face to face, she gave me a peck on the lips.

"Never again", she muttered.

She left the car.

Her mother and father had arrived with the police, she had hugged her father tightly, as she she gave her mother a light hug. Her father glanced at me before talking to the cops, and just like that. She had quickly came and exited my life until the following week.
