Chapter 55 — Fang Lin's Bizzare Cooking Showdown!

Looking throughout the carriage's window, Yu Long saw the blue sky was clear and bright.

Their group had just recently arrived inside the Heaven Dou City after a few days of travelling.

Getting out of the carriage, Lou Shi paid the coachman and looked around the city.

Yu Long and the others also swept their gaze around the city and were quickly amazed by how different this city is compared to the Soutou City.

The Heaven Dou City was deserving it's name as the capital of the Heaven Dou Empire for how grand and beautiful it was.

And a few days earlier before arriving on this city, Yu Long's rank on the spirit arena had advanced into the gold level.

Xiao Yi, Fang Lin, Ji Yu and Hu Yu reaching the silver level and were quite close to reaching the gold level soon.

-Master, did we already arrived at our destination?- Luna appeared on his shoulder in her spirit form.

Yu Long patted her head and soon answered, "Yes, we have already arrived."

Luna giggled cutely as she enjoyed Yu Long's warm and gentle hand patting her head.

"We will head to the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy first before going toward the spirit arena," Lou Shi instructed toward them.

The reason she wanted to visit the Imperial Academy is because their Otherworldly Academy haven't reached the elite grade since it just recently started.

If they joined it, there wouldn't be any problem at joining the continental tournament, which only allowed the elite grades academies to join.

There was also some chances that they wouldn't get to join it and if by chance that happens, they just need to raise their level to elite grade during this one year.

Their group walked toward the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy, which was located at the outskirt of the city since it was huge.

After entering inside the academy gate, they soon encountered some troubles.

"Stop right there! What's your reason for coming here, peasants?" A dozen-plus teens wearing the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy uniforms, blocked their way.

Lou Shi narrowed her eyes after hearing their arrogant remarks, "We are from the Otherworldly Academy. We came to visit your Academy to see if it's worthy enough for us to join it."

A young man who seems to be the leader of all the teens, snorted loudly, "Just scram from this academy! You peasants are not even worthy of walking around here much less on joining."

Fang Lin became angry after hearing those words and was about to beat the crap out of the young man, but Yu Long was faster.

Gritting his teeth hardly, Yu Long dashed toward the young man and roughly grabbed him by his throat.

"Keep your mouth damn close, you arrogant bastard," Yu Long growled before violently pounding his iron fist into the young man's face for several times.

Thud!

Thud!

Crack!

A faint cracking sound entered everyone's ear as the young man fell on the ground with his face swollen badly and bleeding profusely. He looked at Yu Long angrily.

"Kill this damn mongrel! How dare he hurt my precious face," The young man shouted while pointing his finger at Yu Long.

The other students quickly charged toward Yu Long after hearing those words, but he merely gave them a side-eye and revolved his whole body around, kicking them all toward the ground at the same time.

"All of you are just constantly barking loudly and can't even bite me in the end!" Yu Long sneered coldly at them, "If the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy only have trashes like you, then we came into the wrong place."

The young man face became flushed red in anger after hearing those words, but when he was about to talk back, he saw Yu Long's pair of crimson eyes giving off an intense bone-chilling and bloodthirsty aura, causing him to shut up and tremble nervously.

"Calm down, Yu Long," Lou Shi patted his shoulder and stared at the young man infront of him, "Now, scram before our eyes and call your teach to meet with us."

At this moment, a loud voice suddenly sounded out, a middle-aged man walked toward them, "What's going on? Why is it so noisy outside?"

The young man's face lit up after hearing this voice, "Teacher Sun, these bastards dared to cause troubles and provoked us inside our academy! Please punish those evil thots!

"You look like a serious mess. Go back to your training room and recuperate for now!" Teacher Sun said while frowning as he looked at the young man.

He then looked at the other party, "Excuse me, but what's your purpose for coming into our academy? I wasn't inform that we will receive guests."

Seeing that Teacher Sun was not arrogant and petty, Lou Shi replied with a smile, "We are from the Otherworldly Academy. We came here because a teacher called Qin Ming invited us."

Teacher Sun's expression changed after hearing that, "Is that so? Since Qin Ming invited you guys, you all must be remarkably strong."

"I would also like to apologize for the improper attitude that the students here caused earlier."

"No, it's fine," Lou Shi was starting to like Teacher Sun's personality.

"Now then, please follow me inside," Teacher Sun said and gestured them to follow him inside.

The otherworldly group followed Teacher Sun, who started to briefly explain the inner workings of the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy.

Yu Long looked around the inside of the academy and was impressed by how large it was compared to their own academy.

He also saw there was only a few students around to be seen walking around the place.

"Since Teacher Qin Ming is still not back and the elders of the Education Board is also not around currently, I will bring you guys into the place where you can stay for the time being."

Yu Long and the others nodded and didn't complained. Teacher Sun soon brought them to their temporary lodging and told them that they could explore around the place and could also use some of their special facilities if they wanted to.

He also lastly told them to go toward the cafeteria if they were feeling hungry before leaving them.

Their group then went toward the cafeteria because they were feeling hungry after still not eating their breakfast.

Although the food served on the cafeteria were very fancy and luxurious, it couldn't compare to Fang Lin's own cookings.

They didn't like the taste of the foods and then slyly urged Fang Lin to go toward the kitchen to cook instead

Fang Lin could only helplessly accept their biddings and went toward the cafeteria's kitchen.

"Boss, can I cook the foods instead?" He asked toward the head chef who was a burly and sweaty middle-aged man.

The head chef looked at him in annoyance and angrily said, "Are you seriously saying that the foods I served wasn't delicious straight into my face?"

"No, no! I definitely didn't said anything like that!" Fang Lin quickly said while feeling bewildered at this middle-aged overthinking things.

"Hmp! You don't even know how to cook properly and appreciate taste," sneered the head chef while crossing his arms together.

Fang Lin's face became serious after hearing that and quickly wrapped a white scarf around his head.

"What you said just now was absurb! I will make you regret for insulting me! I hereby challenge you into a cooking showdown—A shokugeki!" Fang Lin declared.

The head chef laughed loudly, "Sure, sure! I'll accept your pathetic challenge! Just don't cry when you lose!"

"That's my line!" Fang Lin replied, an intense fire burned on his eyes.

"You cook first. If you happen to surpass my own cooking skills, I will call you as my daddy in the future." The head chef said.

"Fine!" Fang Lin agreed even though he didn't wanted a burly, hairy and sweaty middle-age man, calling him daddy.

He opened the stove, causing a small blue fire to bloom. He took out his silver pot and carefully rub it's surface gently.

To Fang Lin, this silver pot was like his wife—The most beautiful being on this world.

Placing the silver pot above the stove, Fang Lin poured a large amount of golden oil inside it.

While waiting for the oil to boil, Fang Lin began to quickly chop the garlics and soon started to seasoning the chicken with pepper and the secret formula.

The head chef widened his eyes in surprised after seeing Fang Lin's marvelous cutting skills that was very precise and swift. His technique at preparing and seasoning the chicken was also great.

Blub—blub—blub!

A white warm steam rose up after Fang Lin opened the lid covering the silver pot and saw the oil was already boiling nicely.

He placed the already seasoned chicken inside the pot as well as the chopped garlic, ginseng and sticky white rice.

For the finishing touch, Fang Lin sprinkled some salt into the pot with a Salt Bae Action and then placed the lid back on the pot.

He was cooking a dish that his master once taught him. It was called as Samgye-tang.

The head chef's eyes were sparkling, he felt his heart fluttering as he watched every single movement of Fang Lin which were beautiful to his own eyes.

After a few minutes of boiling, the Samgye-tang was already cooked and Fang Lin took the lid off, causing a very strong aromatic smell to suddenly explode out from within it.

'Impossible!' The head chef was shocked as he was thrown back from it's mere aura.

Poking the chicken with a chopstick, Fang Lin felt it was very tender. He then placed the chicken on a large plate along with the sticky white rice.

He also used the oil covering the chicken as well as some of soup, pepper and salt in order to make a sauce.

Fang Lin placed the Samgye-tang and the sauce infront of the head chef, "Please try it."

The head chef gulped down his saliva as he stared at the delicious-looking Samye-tang. He tore the chicken feet apart, dipped it into the sauce and started to eat it.

It was extremely delicious and he couldn't express it with words alone.

After completely eating the chicken feet till only a bone was left, the head chef admitted his defeat.

Fang Lin smiled broadly after seeing it was his victory.

"I will now fulfill my promise..." The head chef said quietly before looking cutely at Fang Lin, "Daddy..."

Once this words came out from the mouth of a middle-aged man that also even tried to make his voice sound cute, Fang Lin shivered as every single hair on his body stood up in alarm.

"N-No! Don't call me like that!" Fang Lin said with face being pale.

"Why~? Do you not like me calling you as Daddy?" The head chef pouted disgustingly.

"Yes!! Please stop! I don't want anymore of this!!" Fang Lin screamed in anguish.

"Daddy, please teach me about your own cooking skills!"

"Noo!!!!!"

Fang Lin was thus traumatized that day.

Samgye-tang: A ginseng—chicken—soup. It's a korean dish cause I don't know anything about chinese foods.
