Chapter 7 - Death Awaits Us

On the way to the main road, they finally found it.

"Why it was so hard to find this pathway?" Sarah annoyed said. "Who created this? A white pathway for a white road in a white field!! A white God? Ah! I'll kill the one who built it!!!"

"Yes, it was difficult like a needle in a haystack" Angel confirmed.

"It was covered too" Jun said. "This sea of flowers is leaving around so many petals"

"But if you know where to search... It isn't so hard to find this road." Angel defended it, finding the good in the bad. "It is large enough for four cars. And... This cobblestone texture reminds me... No! This is white marble too..."

"I like more these gold pieces, every yard or two you can find one and on the front, there is one bigger, it looks like a... Four-point star! Further one there is another! A third! So every three brick size there is a star. B-But... I can't take it" Andrew greedy looked at those things.

On the front Angel with Felix leading the group, Sarah and Kassandra were walking near the first. On Felix's side, there were Isamu and Andrew, who was looking sometimes at Kassandra. In the back, Jun kept company Darien.

"So where are you from?" Felix interrupted the embarrassing silence, asking Angel.

"Uhm... I come from Italy but I'm half Swedish and you?" He revealed his origins.

"So you are Italian, I'm French, from Paris" Felix proudly said. "You know, I lived in Tuscany, precisely Florence, it was a beautiful city and the food was good, did you know that sandwich shop, called "Antico Vinaio". The sandwich there was fantastique!"

"Sorry I never went there. But probably it's good, many have told me too" To not let him down, he lied.

"Oh... I want to eat it again. But now I can only eat plain bread. And in our group, no one knows how to cook."

"If you want I can cook something for you. I know one or two things, I probably can even do a souffle, a cheese souffle."

"You are so good! man..."

"Angy, Angy, I want a chocolate souffle, and I'm sure Kassy wants one too" She looked at her with threatening eyes saying 'You want them too, right?'

"Uhm.. Sarah, first I need to see if I can make it with our wood oven at home and second, we need cocoa powder" He was thinking about the wood oven and the dishes he could make.

"But... We want one..." She cried out desperately grabbing the other girl and carrying her in front of him.

"Okay... if we have all the ingredients, I'll make one" Looking at the two girls, he couldn't refuse and didn't want to ruin their desire.

"Angy, you are the best, you are my angel!"

At the foot of a small hill, the party prepared to climb this little difficulty. "Angy... Are we there yet...?"

"Not yet." He answered, looking at the front

"How far is it?" Seeing the hill in her front and thoughtfully calculating how much it will take.

"Not too far, we have already done halfway" Angel said taking a peek at the map.

"What! Only half? But we are walking for almost one hour..." Looking back at the white and golden peak and many others not too far. "?"

"Probably half an hour" Kassandra corrected.

Before Sarah could even say one word, Angel explained the route, "Sarah, this half is shorter than that white road. We need to pass the hills in the front. On the other side, at its foot and end of the woods, there is the town. All this part, it should take almost the same time. Because... Did you remember I said there were slimes? Joseph told me they live there." Pointing at the woody hills further on.

"Oh... Angy, how are the slimes? I want to see one"

"I don't know. But don't worry, stay ready we'll soon see one."

On the road to the town, they went up and down, in an intricate maze. When the first sun, the leader of the pack, reached the top, a mysterious sound of splashing liquid was heard nearby. All of them looked in that direction and what they founded were six blue or green blobs. Their aspects were what they expected, a gelatinous creature jumping up and down 'like Jun'. In their body a little crystal, dark or lighter thing was there, impassive. But what they didn't expect, was the size of some of them. Two little cars were charging them, two fiats 500 with cores big like an adult human head.

"What is that!!!" All shouted.

But it was late, these slimes had found them their prey.

"A-And this is a slime!?" It was the first time they heard Darien so loud.

"I-It is almost... This slime is almost five times me or more!!!" Sarah didn't believe her eyes.

"It's sure more than that!" Obviously, many of them said.

Suddenly Angel shouted, "Prepare for battle!" But it was late, all of them didn't have any experience in real combat, and worst of all, it was their first and against something unknown.

The first victims should have been the girls, but Jun rapidly pushed out Sarah from the first attacking slime. Its core looked like the head of a young twenty-year-old man, clean and strong. With a light color core but darker than others and the external body, the slime was moss green, perfect for stealth attack in this environment.

This twenty-year-old slime with the size of a car consumed Jun 'in one bite'. The boy in this transparent gelatinous substance couldn't escape from this deadly grip.

A little while ago, everyone there was petrified and couldn't move for fright. But Angel the quickest, rapidly grabbed Kassandra, the nearest to him. Regret assailed him for not saving both two, but Jun in an adrenaline rush, did what he couldn't do, risking his own life. So when the slime jumped at them, it could swallow only Jun.

"Jun!!!" Sarah cried leaving her bow in hand and tried to save him. But was immediately stopped by Angel, and so she collapsed there crying for the guilt.

"We need to save him before it's too late!" He roared screaming. Angel wanted to wake the others and so, without the time to think, he needed to save his friend, he rushed in alone.

Meanwhile, the second biggest slime a twenty-year-old woman head blue slime commanded her pack of slimes and started to chant in a unique language.

With Jun's good senses, he noticed something incoming at the party, so looking at this blue slime, he understand something strange was happening. In that instant, to save his companions more than himself. "Loo...k the...r..e gulp, Th...at Sl...!! Gulp gulp gulp" He couldn't do more than that.

On the other side, Darien looked at the direction he pointed. There, the twenty-year-old woman slime was gradually reducing her size, becoming every second smaller. In the air, ice crystals were forming, slowly taking the form of icicles. Instantly Darien went near the girls to shield them up with the towering shield.

But nothing was right today, the slime gave up to complete the enchantment of this magic, and launched it how it was before it was too late.
