"Five Elements Divine Art?" Zhao Yun asked.
"Yes. There's a story behind it." Ling Yun smiled. Past few days he was immersed in the library of the scroll. His knowledge was far beyond what it was before. He increasingly felt how small he was in this world. He remembered one of the journals that recorded the truth behind these divine arts.
In a mortal realm in Dao plane, people worshipped the Five elements as Gods.
Fire God, Water God, Earth God, Wood God and Metal God.
They had divine shrines for these Gods.
Everyone was born with affinity for either of the elements. Some were born with more elemental affinity. These people were majority and were considered impure. As the five elements mutually support and inhibit each other, if the elements were supportive, they can still cultivate but if they were not supportive, then they were useless. Even if the affinity for one element was more than others, people would cultivate it while they would discard the others. It was extreme rarity to be born with equal affinity for two elements, it was legendary to be born with equal affinity for three and mythical to be born with equal affinity for four elements and people born with five, well you can say there was none.
With extreme twist of fate, a boy was found to be equally talented in all five elements. They supported and inhibited each other thus making the boy's physique chaotic. From this was born the legendary Five elements chaotic physique. The boy was deemed useless, subject for mockery and ridicule for his peers and pity from seniors. His family abandoned him, his mother killed while protecting him, his girl was snatched away. One after another tragedy struck him. Life was like a chimney burning him to point of turning dust. But what these people didn't know was the person they were burning was iron. By burning him and beating him what they were doing was not breaking him but turning him into a sharp dagger capable of slaughtering even the heavens themselves.
Even after countless hardships the boy grew up to be an extremely intelligent person. Without giving up to his fate he researched all the cultivation technique available to him for 50 years. After all the research he who was considered an old man for a mortal created countless techniques. Fire God Art, Water God Art, Earth God Art, Wood God Art and Metal God Art being the pinnacle of his creation. He then started fusing them. With insights of the old, he fused two then three and finally four God arts together. He was 90 that year. For a mortal he was at the end of his lifespan and still he had one more art to fuse.
Even if all the Gates were closed to him, he still persisted. Finally on the verge of death he gained enlightenment. All Five Arts were fused together forming the Five Elements Divine Art. As the creator, heavens rewarded him with an extra day of life, which was all he needed. The moment he started cultivating, heavens roared and Earth trembled. Five elements from all over the realm gathered towards him nourishing his Qi body and soul. All his enlightenment was enough for him to soar to the semi divinity realm in a single step. Breaking the void he entered the Divine realm. From there he continued his research and finally when he reached the Dao plane, Daofather personally welcomed him and took him as his first disciple.
From there his legend continued.
Ling Yun heaved a sigh after hearing it. He was still in awe with this character who blazed his own path against all odds.
Zhao Yun was stunned too.
He considered himself to be a genius but blows after blows came to his mindset these past few days. The Senior created his own technique that became the foundation of the technique he practised. While all he had done was to depend on the hard work and sacrifices of countless seniors. A sense of sorrow passed through him.
Ling Yun observed all his expression and nodded in satisfaction. This story and all his words were delebrate to crush this guy's arrogance when it was just budding. Although he learnt a lot, his experience was too low to keep up with it. He had to do so for the boy's good. Now it was time to console him a little, he smiled.
" You don't have to feel dejected. Everyone have their own pursuits and fate. You are not some nobody either, otherwise why would the scroll choose you?"
Zhao Yun looked up. "Old man is there a reason for the scroll to choose me?"
"Yes! Although you may think that it was all due to a co incidence, every action that you took that day was calculated by the seniors eons before you were born. You will know all the criteria you fulfilled in the future but the main one I can tell you now. As it has a direct relationship with that Senior." Ling Yun smiled.
"Oh what is it?" Zhao Yun asked.
"The senior whose name no one knows, and is respectfully called Five Elements Divine Sovereign. He reached the peak of Dao plane and enjoys endless life span. He created this technique along with other seniors with his own Five elements divine art as the foundation."
"Your body is similar yet different from him. He had a five elements divine body but what you have is a Chaotic Physique. If we consider talent then well you can be considered to be even worse than the most average mortals. But if we take your art into consideration then only you in this Universe can practise it."
Zhao Yun was stunned. His Art allowed him rapid advancement of strength and his perception was high. So he couldn't understand why Ling Yun said that he was the worst?
"Why I'm the worst? What is Chaotic Physique?" He asked.
Ling Yun laughed seeing his anxiety.
"Just like Five elements body of the senior you have all the elements in your body in perfect harmony. So technically you should not be able to practice cultivation, buy your technique changed this natural law and not only allowed you to cultivate but since it is innately heaven defying, your strength is greater than all. Well it has a downside and that would be your tribulations in the future would be too tough. Heaven can somehow tolerate Five elements harmony but you are something that it couldn't tolerate. You are a marvel that shouldn't exist in this universe but somehow you do." Ling Yun exclaimed.
"All elements?" Zhao Yun was confused.
"Hahah apart from the Five elements of Fire Water Earth Wood and Metal/Gold, we have other natural elements such as Wind, Lightening, Ice, Yin, Yang and the most eccentric ones Space and Time. All these elements reside in your body in perfect harmony. Thus making it a chaotic Physique as any single one of these elements is not distinguishable in you." Ling Yun shook his head marvelling at this wonder.
"So countless seniors first calculated your existance. Only after confirming your existance did they set out for the creation of Divine Sovereign Supreme Art where Divine Sovereign Ascension Art is just a part of its mortal level." He explained.
Not giving any chance for Zhao Yun to recover he reminded him again, "Child you don't know that just to ensure that this scroll reaches you safely and me as a guide remains with you, just how many people have sacrificed. Be sure to not to disappoint them. Don't do anything that degrade their hard work."
Zhao Yun nodded vigorously with red eyes. He thought he was just lucky to get this legacy. Never had he thought just how many difficulties seniors faced to make it. He also understood how Five Elements Divine Art was similar to his technique as former was for Five elements while his was of all Twelve main elements.
Taking a deep breath he calmed himself down.
He glanced at the courtyard where the intense fire element was still raging down.
He thought for a while and sat down. His strength came from the baptism of the scroll. Strictly speaking it was not his strength. After listening to Ling Yun's story, he had his own conclusions in his mind.
'Unlike those peerless geniuses who can create such marvelous techniques I'm nothing.'
My current strength is at the peak that I wanted to reach in my past but the current me is just beginning. Is this the difference in world view.? He questioned.
Since this strength is not mine, how should I make it mine?
He continued to ponder.
A day passed. Under the watchful gaze of the crowd and worried look of Ignis, the fire element started converging back to the courtyard. The expected explosion never came resulting to a collective sigh of relief from everyone present.
The most excited was of course Ignis as he knew that no explosion means that his sister was safe.
He turned his head and noticed that Zhao Yun who was in his meditation for a whole day at some point had opened his eyes.
While looking at him, he felt somewhat strange. Previously, he never was able to sense his master's cultivation. Now however he could perceive that it was just step one of Tempering stage. However this step one was releasing so much pressure on him that he was suffocating.
Yes after an entire day of meditation, Zhao Yun's cultivation instead of advancing had degraded back to step one of Tempering stage of Qi Body and Soul.
After pondering for a long time he recieved his own path. He degraded his own realm down and slowly comprehended evry cell of his body. He perceived his own strength to the tiniest detail. He understood the working of each step. Unlike his previous strength, his current one was completely his own. If he was to seal his previous strength to the same level he was now, the current him would be able to defeat the previous him in a single strike.
This was his strength. The strength given by the scroll was not completely discarded but was sealed in the scroll itself. He can slowly draw it out and integrate it with himself. His speed of cultivation would be faster, but this time it would be completely his own.
He drew back his momentum. The previous him gave a sense of suppression, but now there was no difference between him and an ordinary mortal.
This change surprised everyone as they felt that Zhao Yun who was clearly standing in front of them did not even exist.
Ling Yun was surprised too. He just told a story and this brat comprehended this much.
At the same time he was worried. Although it was a wake up call for the boy, it was not enough to warrant such changes. If he experienced life more and then comprehended his own strength, then it would have been fine but now his road had become much smoother than before.
He never thought that the boy had such heaven defying comprehension.
Just then he remembered something which horrified him.
'Five elements divine Sovereign only had five elements chaotic physique but he wasn't able to cultivate until he invented his own cultivation technique. This brat has chaos physique (all elements chaotic physique) but he was able to cultivate from a young age.'
This discovery shocked Ling Yun to the core. One must know that what Zhao Yun experienced today, almost every powerhouse who rose from a big legacy had to go through. Afterall unless they make the strength their own, they can't progress beyond the limit of the legacy. Even the greatest geniuses from countless worlds and eras required decades or even centuries to comprehend the value of one's own self but Zhao Yun did it in one day from just a little guidance. Such comprehension can only be said to be heaven defying.
The fact that he was able to cultivate even before he got his legacy despite having a chaos physique, proved that he already set on the path of greatness. The legacy just pushed his original limit further beyond the previous one. One can say that even without the legacy, if the boy didn't die and with some opportunities he might reach the same level that he might reach with the legacy, but having it meant that he would not need to take many detours and his chances of succes is much higher. This made Ling Yun sigh with emotion. He didn't know that having this legacy was a blessing or a curse to the boy but he was sure that no matter with or without it, the boy was destined to greatness.
He was curious to know how he was able to cultivate before, but after some thought he decided not to probe. Simply because it does not matter anymore. If in the future such need do arise, it wouldn't be too late to ask.
Right now he shifted his attention to the courtyard, a subtle force was slowly rising in there.
Seeing this his lips twitched a little.
'Activation at the verge of explosion, but she not only contained it but used it to propel her cultivation. This little girl is a monster too.'
The momentum coming from the courtyard increased to the peak of tempering realm and then something that turned Ling Yun speechless happened.
He thought that the girl would break through to the next realm but she suppressed her momentum at the last minute. This signified only one thing. She knew that her foundation were not solid enough to break through. Without any teacher, this type of thinking can only found in cultivators who have experienced many things.
He sighed. This brat being a monster was okay, now a random girl he saved was a monster too, was something he can only marvel about.
Finally the momentum in the courtyard subsided. Everyone was waiting for the girl to emerge. Specially Ignis whose eyes were red from excitement.
Zhao Yun's eyes were filled with curiosity too.
He wanted to see the effects of Fire God Art and see what magic would it play.
Under the eyes of everyone the door was opened a little.
Just when everyone was waiting with anticipation, a little head poked out of the gap, the girl's beautiful face was red as she cried in a embarrassed tone, "Can.. can someone lend me some clothes."
The guards, Ignis and even Zhao Yun who were expectantly waiting for the future powerhouse to emerge nearly stumbled on the ground.
Zhao Yun smiled wryly. He had forgotten that the heat was enough to burn a human let alone clothes. Now this was an awkward situation as there were no need for them to carry clothes with them.
He helplessly gave a guard some silver and instructed him to bring some clothes. While smiling apologetically to the girl who quickly entered the house once again.
