I was born a hybrid. My mother was one if the dragons who the government had bred and trained. Her name was Megan and I was named after her. I was born in 2150, many years after everything happened. My mother and uncle Andy told me stories of the old times and the technology, but many years and generations had past before me so most humans had no recollections of it or the events that occurred during those few days in November all those years before.

My older brother was named after his father. He is 6 years older than me and name is Ian, his dad was a dragon from another pack in which my mom and her brother joined when there own split apart.

Neither of us ever got to meet Ian but our mother and uncle told us many stories about him. He died while my mother was giving birth one of the neighboring dragon clans decided that was the time to attack as my mother was in labor and wouldn't be able to defend herself. Andy and Ian fought bravely and protect our mother. We lost some territory to them but not much from what they told us. Ian was injured very badly though as one of the dragons snuck around them to attack my mother, he heard her call to him when she was in danger and came as quickly as he could. He saved his son and my mother, by sacrificing his own life for them. The intruding dragon was also killed. That's why my mother decided my brothers name would be Ian. I don't know if my mother loved his father or if they both knew they would need to have a baby or both of their blood lines might be lost forever and the family the three of them had made together would eventually be destroyed as they were aging so they weren't as strong.

I was born 6 years later, I don't know who my father is but I also know I wasn't ever aloud to leave the cave. I was born there in the darkness and was never aloud out. My mom said it was to dangerous and nobody ever even knew she was pregnant other then her own son and my uncle. I was alone.

My uncle started to train me as soon as I could walk. Even before then my mother had started to teach me how to use magic.

I didn't understand why I couldn't leave until my brother explained it to me. I remember him telling me. "Megan, you can't leave because your a hybrid. Your dad he was a hybrid so you have a lot of human in you. Making you a hybrid, but you are a high percentage hybrid. You can turn into a dragon still and you look just like mom when you turn, but other full blood dragons will try to kill you since they may see you as impure or a weakness." That is how Ian explained being a hybrid to me my mother further explained it to me later and that's when she explained why it is so important that I am trained so I will be ready for those that are stronger than me and I can be able to protect myself. She also explained that my father wasn't able to transform because he didn't have enough dragon in him, but he had enough that between the two of them I was most likely barely a hybrid so using my abilities and transforming into my dragon form wouldn't have very much if any effect on life force and the dragon in me would allow me to pull my energy from other things that are around me so I never have to pull into my life force.

I only remember certain things clearly, from when I was that young. I barely have any memories of my family left. I know I have the same white color and same feathered wings and tail, and the same feathers that help hide my horns as my mother did. I also go her fire since my father didn't have a dragon form there wasn't anything to pull from when it came to getting genes that could change my dragons traits.

I remember the day I lost my family. One of the neighboring dragons who was young flew to our home. I don't remember much about this dragon only that it was a girl and that the moment she saw me she wanted me dead. I also remover she is why I lost my family. It was winter and a tribe of hybrids had taken camp in our Territory as that was where a heard of buffalo were. She lead a hybrid hunting group right to the cave. I don't think she knew she was followed but she didn't have the chance to do anything about it. The hybrids killed her. Our mom and Uncle were our patrolling when they arrived and attacked. Ian told me to run and hide. I wanted to stay and fight but I was scared so I did what he said. I ran deeper into the cave and hid. I didn't come out until I heard Ian tell me it was ok.

They were gone but he wasn't ok. He was hurt badly.

I knew I wasn't the one in pain but all of a sudden it was as if I was. I started crying and Ian pulled me into his arms and sat down with me curled up on his lap sobbing. I could feel a warm liquid running down my stomach to my legs, but I didn't stop crying. I felt a few tears coming down his face. I didn't know how but I just knew he was in pain. I used my abilities and took his pain away. I really didn't know exactly what I was doing but I felt his pain and go a small cut on my stomach and started bleeding a little. I could see in his eyes when I looked up at him that he wasn't in physical pain anymore, but his eyes were filled with sadness. He continues to cry and I was to young to understand or maybe I didn't understand the concept of what was about to happen, but I couldn't figure out why he was crying harder know that I had taken the pain away then he was before. He didn't say a word but he hugged me tighter and kiss my forehead. I didn't understand what was going on but how could any 8 year old truly understand it. I didn't know what it was for until I didn't feel his warm breath hitting the top of my head, and I couldn't hear his heartbeat anymore. His arms got loser around me and I wasn't in his tight embrace anymore. I didn't understand death, but I knew he wasn't there anymore. A part of me just knew my brother was gone. I began to call his name as I started to cry harder and I hugged him tighter, as if my cries and strength would be enough to bring him back to me. I stayed curled up in his lap and loose embrace, until my mother and uncle were back. I remember hearing their voices and wanting to call out to them and go to them, but being stopped because I wouldn't leave my brother, I just couldn't. I had already cried all my tears away and I couldn't get a sound to come out of my throat even when I tried to call to what was left of my family. My throat was to dry and hurt to much from calling for my brother and crying.

My uncle and mom found me. My uncle tried to pick me up but I held onto Ian as if my life depended on it. My uncle was stronger than me though, and ended up prying me off Ian cold lifeless body. I remember hearing my mother cry and seeing the crimson red liquid covering my brother and for the first time I looked down and saw it on me as well. My Uncle Andy took me back to where my bed was and got me knew clothes to change into. He also bandaged up my wound that I had gotten from when I took my brothers pain and had attempted to heal him. Before I went to bed my mother was back with us they sat by the bed and I looked around. I didn't see Ian, and the last thing I remember being able to say before I fell asleep was "Ian needs to come in otherwise he'll get cold."

At the time even with all my training I had never gotten hurt or bleed so I didn't understand what it was. I had also never experienced death or loss. I never had meant my father or Ian's father so I felt no real connection to them and I had no sadness that they weren't around us. I didn't know what missing someone would feel like. I had only ever know my mom, uncle, and brother.

My uncle and mother figure out who had killed Ian and they knew it was hybrids. They also knew the young female dragon was from a neighboring tribe who had attacked us before. The same ones who had killed Ian's father. They also knew that meant they would come looking for her soon. In our territory their were 3 groups of humans and one clan of hybrids. Somehow they decided they would take revenge for my brothers death, but there was more to their plan than that. My family knew the other clans would come looking when they saw all the smoke and fire. That way they could take any survivors they found into their tribe in hopes that it would make them stronger and see if that could make it so they could learn whatever the survivors knew of their clans ways. Seeing how this was one of the only clans that they knew of who could hunt and kill dragons, and hybrids didn't share weapons or secrets.

They set there plan and burned the tribe of hybrids to the ground. My mother and uncle killed every last one of them. Then they left me their in the cold for one of the other clans to find. My uncle and mother had both gotten hurt in their attack, but they also knew they were going to have to deal with more dragons soon enough. They knew they wouldn't live and wouldn't be able to protect me when they came. They left me so the dragons wouldn't kill me. I had the scent of a hybrid so they would never know I was their blood, I would be safe, but seeing my uncle and mother fly off and disappear into the sky was also the last time I would ever see either of them again. Neither of them looked back when as the disappeared they never really said goodbye either.

I didn't understand where they had went or why they didn't take me with them. All I knew was I was alone, cold, and hungry. I didn't really know what to do, so I started to cry. That only made me more cold.

I was lucky though, because it didn't take long until I heard horses and people. It wasn't even sunset yet and there were people. One of which was a few years older than me. He had bright red hair and blue eyes. He road the horse next to the person who had taken me. They brought me back to their tribe and gave me food and a change of clothes. I sat by the fire in their leaders structure while I ate.

They became my new clan. The leader and his wife took me in. They had recently lost there daughter who they told me was about my age, she died of an illness. They became my new parents and family.

I used to watch the sky every chance I got, just hoping to get a glimpse of my mom or uncle to know they were still there watching over me, or were about to come bring me home. I did it for months, everyone though I was just day dreaming or starring off into space. We left my family's old territory and followed the heard since it was the main source of food. I stopped looking up at the sky and hoping as time had went on and we got farther and farther away.

I had realized I looked nothing like the leader and his wife though. They both had blond hair and light eyes, where I had black hair and brown eyes. I was the exact opposite of them, yet they still took me in and treated me as if I was their own even though I knew I wasn't.

I stopped using my abilities. I knew better than to transform or use magic around people they had all taught me not to and wanted me of the risks, but none of it really had done anything until I Ian died. When he died I realized they had killed them for being dragons and having abilities therefor I would never be able to show anyone mine unless is was absolutely necessary. It would have to be a life and death citation that was so extreme no human method or way would be able to save me. So I learned how to be human.
