Back to his lonesome, Alexander turned Allison's cell phone off and casually threw it inside his glove box.
' After meeting papa Argent, I'd guess that he placed some kind of tracker on Allison's phone, so it's better to turn it off since right now. Now, what to do, should I go track down a hacker to break into the Argents hard drive or...'
Alexander found himself unable to finish his thought as he was distracted by the black corvette following him.
'... Breakfast it is then.'
Maintaining his cool, he continued driving at the same speed and made no signs of having caught his pursuer. Although his bad habit of smirking smugly when feeling superior or extremely confident, acted up again.
' Dammit, I'd stop but how can I?! For me of all people to be pursued is the most laughable thing I've ever seen...'
Pushing his narcissistic personality aside, Alexander was able to give his advasary some credit.
' To be fair, I'm actually impressed that the Alpha has that much confidence in a Beta. I mean it's either confidence or utter stupidity, but I guess we'll soon find out.'
A few blocks away from the school, in the middle of town, Alexander found a diner. Pulling into their somewhat empty parking lot, he quickly found parking. Stepping out of his car, he noticed the black corvette had also entered the lot.
However besides a quick and meaningless glance he ignored the car. Walking into the diner he was greeted by a severely cold woman, who sat him before leaving him with a plastic laminated menu.
A few moments later, a familiar face walked into the diner. That belonging to the moody and brooding man he'd seen outside the school yesterday.
Alexander didn't even try to make contact with him, rather he immersed himself in the menu. Outwardly at least, since his senses had been probing the young man the second he walked in.
' So you really came... Honestly, I feel partially responsible for this situation. Had I known you'd be so careless as to approach me in public, I'd have taught you a lesson outside. Now I'll have to ruin the day of these fine people, what a shame.'
When the stoned faced waitress returned to take his order, Alexander asked for two large meals.
" Your order will be out in a few minutes."
" Thank you."
A short breath later, the same waitress attended to the young man seated behind him.
" You want a menu?"
" Small coffee, black."
" Alright."
What followed was a long pause, as Alexander checked his phone while his stalker merely looked on.
' So how am I going to break into the Argent hard drive? I've already tried, and was close to doing so, but ultimately failed. (Sigh) it's In moments like these, that I almost regret leaving the Strix. There I never had to deal with these sorts of things, they had specialized agents for such assignments. Now I've got to fend for myself, again...'
Recalling how awful his life's been as of late, Alexander's apathetic expression twisted into one filled with irritation.
' What's the use of getting angry now, if can't break into it, I just need to find someone who can. That shouldn't be too difficult, right?'
Not long after that, the food he'd ordered arrive, as well as the enigmatic young man's.
" Here you go, two hearty breakfast platters and one large glass of orange juice."
" Why thank you miss."
" Sure, and for you a small black coffee."
" ..."
Receiving their orders, the difference in both men's current moods was evident. The clear extrovert of the two, Alexander was all smiles while his overseer cold and detached. To the point of not interchanging his brooding expression since he sat down. At least until, Alexander's words caused a myriad of them to appear on his face.
" Hey, small town pup, the food is getting cold. Come and eat."
Focused on all things Alexander, the young man clearly heard him say that. Obviously believing himself to have gone unnoticed, he wasn't certain if he was referring to him.
' Could he have figured out that I've been following him...? Impossible, he should be human, he couldn't have-'
" You didn't hear wrong, I'm talking to you, the gloomy looking werewolf pup who followed me around town. Come over here, take a seat and share a meal with me. Otherwise, get up, walk out this diner and never appear before me again, your choice."
Shockingly, what seemed to stir him up was the way in which Alexander was referring to him.
" Who the hell are you calling pup?! Don't believe I won't-"
In a split second he went from quiet loner to full blown asshole. Either due to his anger or pure ignorance he partially shifted in order to intimidate Alexander. Sadly for him, his outburst had little effect on Alexander, who responded in kind with a death stare.
" You'll what?"
Seeing into those eyes, the young man couldn't help but tremble in fear.
" Y-you.. Y-you're, the Alpha?"
Hearing his shaky voice mutter that absurdity out loud, Alexander almost laughed right in his face. While he didn't actually do that, he did shake his head in disappointment.
" This is why, your kind are always getting killed or enslaved. You're always all brawn and no brain..."
" What do you mean, aren't you also, a Werewolf?"
" No, and here I was thinking you were one of the Alpha's Betas, but you're just some pack-less kid. There goes my after breakfast exercise."
Although Alexander's harsh words did sting, the young man walked over and sat next to him.
" So you're not the Alpha that's been stalking the woods for the past few weeks?"
" No."
After giving that short answer, Alexander seemed to have lost interest in his pursuer. So much so that he almost completely disregarded him and started eating. His unenthusiasm, however didn't stop the young werewolf from trying to start a long round of questioning.
" You say that you're not a werewolf, but when I looked into your eyes, I felt an odd sense of familiarity to you. So what are you?"
Even though it was clear that he'd sparked his imagination, Alexander didn't feel the need to speak to a Beta.
" You're still here?"
" You told me to sit down, so I thought we could-"
" I did, but that was before I knew you were just some wandering beta, who's of no use to me whatsoever. So while. I don't mind you seating there and partaking from the food I ordered. Since I did invite you, but please refrain from speaking to me while I'm eating."
Finding it very hard to not stand up and punch Alexander right in his face. The young man's lips twitched to one side while he clenched his fists underneath the table.
' It's true that he doesn't have an Alpha's characteristic red eyes but the fear I felt throughout my body sure felt real. So while I'd like nothing more than to knock this guy out, it's obvious that he's not normal.'
