We arrive in Nashville, Luna and I get out of the corvette and Frodo runs over as he was waiting for us to park. I walked them towards the Ryman Auditorium. Couple of minutes later and we're all backstage. Several hours go by and I finally go onstage.
"Hey Nashville! So today I'm gonna be singing some songs that I wrote a while back. I hope you won't mind that I will be singing some pop songs as well as country songs." I say before I get ready to sing.
I take a deep breath and start singing, "What are you willing to lose?
You cover your wounds, but underneath them
A million voices in your head that whisper, "Stop, now"
Another twist of the knife, turn of the screws
It's all in your mind and it's fighting you
Arm yourself, a storm is coming
Well, kid ...
What you gonna do now?
It's your reflection looking back to pull you down
So are you gonna die today or make it out alive?
You gotta conquer the monster in your head and then you'll fly
Fly, Phoenix, fly
It's time for a new empire
Go bury your demons then tear down the ceiling
Phoenix, fly
And now you're playing with matches, come out of the ashes
Underneath you, a million voices in the crowd they're screaming, "Stop, now"
Well let 'em swallow their pride, you're turning the tide to true believers
Got them in the palm of your hand, you're playing God now
What you gonna do now?
It's your reflection looking back to pull you down
So are you gonna die today or make it out alive?
You gotta conquer the monster in your head and then you'll fly
Fly, Phoenix, fly
It's time for a new empire
Go bury your demons then tear down the ceiling
Phoenix, fly." The audience applauds and I smile.
I sing, "From the North to the South
From the East to the West
Lost boys, lost girls
You all know you're the best
Hit the streets, it's your day
Turn it up, now's your chance
It's time to get up on your feet and dance
Whoo
Anybody wanna be like us?
Everybody wanna be like us!
Hey
All the boys from Auradon
And the girls 'cause they know what's up
Huh!
Your life could change today
Your life could change today
These streets named after us
Because we paved the way (c'mon)
Everyone come and take your shot
Now's the time, show 'em what you got (ah)
'Cause everyone is gonna get their chance
They said that being from the Isle was bad
Well, it's good to be bad
And we're proof of that
Used to be lost, now we're on the map
Used to steal stacks, now we're giving back
Remember that
It's good to be, bad
If you got pride
Raise your V's up high
Wave 'em wide, side to side
Feel the vibe
It's good to be bad
I wanna see you all rep your block
I wanna see you all rep your block
Hey
Show your pride, let me hear ya shout
We're from the Isle of the Lost! (Yes)
We're here to celebrate
We're here to elevate
If you're down, then make your move
But you best not hesitate
Come on!
Today's the day that you won't forget
The best to come ain't happened yet (ah)
Take a bow, it won't be your last
You're from the Isle if anybody asks (whoo)
It's good to be bad
And we're proof of that
Used to be lost, now we're on the map
Used to steal stacks, now we're giving back
Remember that
It's good to be
Bad
If you got pride
Raise your V's up high
Wave 'em wide, side to side
Feel the vibe
It's good to be bad
They can try to deny our style
But we were born this way
'Cause you can take the VK outta the Isle
But you can't take the Isle out the VK
If you wanna make it hype, not a moment to waste
Make it loud, make it live, make it jump to the bass
Make it what you want, but you'd better make your case
'Cause the Isle makes us and we're reppin' this place
So when I say "V", you say "K"
V-K-V-K
When I say "all", you say "day"
All day, all day
When I say "V", you say "K"
V-K-V-K
When I say "all", you say "day"
All day
Come on
Hey
It's good to be, bad
It's good to be bad
And we're proof of that
Used to be lost, now we're on the map
Used to steal stacks, now we're giving back
Remember that
It's good to be, bad
If you got pride
Raise your V's up high
Wave 'em wide, side to side
Feel the vibe
It's good to be, bad!"
I start to sing again, "My friends don't walk, they run
Skinny dip in rabbit holes for fun
Popping, popping balloons with guns, getting high off helium
We paint white roses red
Each shade from a different person's head
This dream, dream is a killer
Getting drunk with the blue caterpillar
I'm peeling the skin off my face
'Cause I really hate being safe
The normals, they make me afraid
The crazies, they make me feel sane
I'm nuts, baby, I'm mad
The craziest friend that you've ever had
You think I'm psycho, you think I'm gone
Tell the psychiatrist something is wrong
Over the bend, entirely bonkers
You like me best when I'm off my rocker
Tell you a secret, I'm not alarmed
So what if I'm crazy? The best people are
All the best people are crazy, all the best people are
Where is my prescription?
Doctor, doctor please listen
My brain is scattered
You can be Alice, I'll be the mad hatter
I'm peeling the skin off my face
'Cause I really hate being safe
The normals, they make me afraid
The crazies, they make me feel sane
I'm nuts, baby, I'm mad,
The craziest friend that you've ever had
You think I'm psycho, you think I'm gone
Tell the psychiatrist something is wrong
Over the bend, entirely bonkers
You like me best when I'm off my rocker
Tell you a secret, I'm not alarmed
So what if I'm crazy? The best people are
You think I'm crazy, you think I'm gone
So what if I'm crazy? All the best people are
And I think you're crazy too, I know you're gone
That's probably the reason that we get along
I'm nuts, baby, I'm mad,
The craziest friend that you've ever had
You think I'm psycho, you think I'm gone
Tell the psychiatrist something is wrong
Over the bend, entirely bonkers
You like me best when I'm off my rocker
Tell you a secret, I'm not alarmed
So what if I'm crazy? The best people are
All the best people are crazy, all the best people are
All the best people are crazy, all the best people are."
I smirk and sing yet again, "I'm gonna break your heart and get away with murder
(Murder)
(Hey, hey, hey)
You should've known from the start that it wouldn't last forever
(Ever)
(Hey, hey, hey)
I can't control myself
I feel like someone else
I'm gonna break your heart and get away with murder
(Murder)
(Hey, hey, hey)
There's a mystery inside my head
It was you dripping all in red
Did I hurt you?
Let me make it safe and sound
Can you feel me breathing down your neck?
You're just a perfect little human wreck
But I like you
enough to destroy you, tear you down
I'm gonna break your heart and get away with murder
(Murder)
(Hey, hey, hey)
You should've known from the start that it wouldn't last forever
(Ever)
(Hey, hey, hey)
I can't control myself
I feel like someone else
I'm gonna break your heart and get away with murder
(Murder)
(Hey, hey, hey)
There's a memory inside my head
It feels like a part of me is dead
I should save you
but I want to watch you drown
There's nothing you could say or do
Words mean nothing when your lips so blue
I love you
and now that you're six feet underground
I'm gonna break your heart and get away with murder
(Murder)
(Hey, hey, hey)
You should've known from the start that it wouldn't last forever
(Ever)
(Hey, hey, hey)
I can't control myself
I feel like someone else
I'm gonna break your heart and get away with murder
(Murder)
(Hey, hey, hey)
it's time to spill your guts
And I don't like what I see on the inside
I'm looking at the evidence
This feels like a flawless crime
Did you forget that love was dangerous?
And I feel like I'm, I
I'm gonna break your heart and get away with murder
(Murder)
(Hey, hey, hey)
You should've known from the start that it wouldn't last forever
(Ever)
(Hey, hey, hey)
I can't control myself
I feel like someone else
I'm gonna break your heart and get away with murder
(Murder)
(Hey, hey, hey)"
I take a deep breath and sing, "I'm so tired of pretending
Where's my happy ending?
I followed all the rules
I drew inside the lines
I never asked for anything that wasn't mine
I waited patiently for my time
But when it finally came
He called her name
And now I feel this overwhelming pain
I mean it's in my veins
I mean it's in my brain
My thoughts are running in a circle like a toy train
I'm kinda like a perfect picture with a broken frame
I know exactly who to blame
I never thought of myself as mean
I always thought that I'd be the queen
And there's no in between
'Cause if I can't have that
Then I would be the leader of the dark
And the bad
Now there's a devil on my shoulder
Where the angels used to be
And he's calling me the queen
Being nice was my pastime
But I've been hurt for the last time
And I won't ever let another person take advantage of me
The anger burns my skin, third-degree
Now my blood's boiling hotter than a fiery sea
There's nobody getting close to me
They're gonna bow to the Evil Queen
Your nightmare's my dream
Just wait until they fall to my wicked schemes
I never thought of myself as mean
I always thought that I'd be the queen
And there's no in between
'Cause if I can't have that
Then I would be the leader of the dark
And the bad
Now there's a devil on my shoulder
Where the angels used to be
And he's calling me the queen of mean (calling me, calling me)
The queen of mean (calling me, calling me)
The queen of mean (calling me, calling me)
Something's pulling me
It's so magnetic
My body is moving
Unsure where I'm headed
All of my senses have left me defenseless
This darkness around me
Is promising vengeance
The price that I'm willing to pay is expensive
There's nothing to lose
When you're lonely and friendless
So my only interest is showing this princess
That I am the queen
And my reign will be endless (endless)
I want what I deserve
I want to rule the world
Sit back and watch them learn
It's finally my turn
If they want a villain for a queen
I'm gonna be one like they've never seen
I'll show them what it means
Now that I am that
I will be the ruler of the dark and the bad
'Cause the devil's on my shoulder
Where the angels used to be
And he's calling me the queen of mean (calling me, calling me)
The queen of mean (calling me, calling me)
I want what I deserve!"
I start singing again but this time it's a rap, "Growing up parents got me a guitar
Said you can do anything kid you can go far
You can be the president fireman race cars
The sky's the limit kid so shoot for the stars
So I strummed that guitar everyday
Found a passion for music never went away
I joined a couple bands and played a few shows
Tried to impress the girl in the front row
But soon enough everything starts to change
As you grow up nobody treats you the same
They try take your future and make it real safe
You could be a doctor accountant or something sane
But yo
What ever happened to the sky was the limit?
I fell in love with music never thought it was a gimmick
I worked so hard on every tune and every single lyric
My whole identity dependent on being artistic
Now you want to strip that away? So you feel ok?
Cuz if I make it to the top what does that really say?
That you shouldn't have given up, that you made the mistake
But if I fail you feel much better 'bout pickin' your lane right
Yea things are gunna get better real soon
Yea I'ma just do me you just do you
I swear it's gunna get better real soon
Don't let anyone tell u what you should do
I got a clear view
We're gunna make it soon
Just keep pushing through
Yea what you got to lose?
Yea what you got to lose?
Yea what you got to lose?
Just keep pushing through
Cuz what you got to lose?
I won't give up I won't back down
Till I'm lying 6 feet underneath the deep ground
I won't give up I won't back down
Cuz nobody's stopping me except for me now
I won't give up I won't back down
Till I'm lying 6 feet underneath the deep ground
I won't give up I won't back down
Cuz nobody's stopping me except for me now
And let's be honest life's a competition
So if I'm going to play then Im gon play to win it
I refuse to sit and rot at a desk all day
Unless I have a passion I'm working towards OK
I'd rather be dead on the outside than inside
A bullet to the head than 25 to life
In a cubicle alone just trying get by
Building someone else's dream instead of building mine
If you're hearin me this is meant to inspire
If you have a dream or if you have desires
A girl in your life thats makin u feel that fire
Go fight for her man go die for her man
Cuz you only have one life one chance to do it
One chance to prove it to yourself so don't lose it
You got this fam just keep pushing on through it
One day you'll look back so glad you pursued it
Yea things are gunna get better real soon
I won't give up I won't back down
Cuz nobody's stopping me except for me now
You ain't gon stop me now
Because I got this now
I got the formula and I'm about to drop it loud
So what we talking bout
There is no talkin now
We take action with passion we're rockin now
It's tick tockin' now
The clocks tockin' down
And all I hear is haters try so hard to talk me down
But they can't stop the sound
Already on the ground
Everything is growing faster than I can count
You ain't gon stop me now
Because I got this now
I got the formula and I'm about to drop it loud
So what we talking bout
There is no talkin now
We take action with passion we're rockin now
It's tick tockin' now
The clocks tockin' down
And all I hear is haters try so hard to talk me down
But they can't stop the sound
Already on the ground
Everything is growing faster than I can count." The audience goes wild, they were clearly not expecting me to rap.
I take a deep breath to soothe my soul and sing, "Oh, hush, my dear, it's been a difficult year
And terrors don't prey on
Innocent victims
Trust me, darling, trust me darling
It's been a loveless year
I'm a man of three fears
Integrity, faith and
Crocodile tears
Trust me, darling, trust me, darling
So look me in the eyes
Tell me what you see
Perfect paradise
Tearing at the seams
I wish I could escape
I don't wanna fake it
Wish I could erase it
Make your heart believe
But I'm a bad liar, bad liar
Now you know
Now you know
That I'm a bad liar, bad liar
Now you know, you're free to go (go)
Did all my dreams never mean one thing?
Does happiness lie in a diamond ring?
Oh, I've been askin' for
Oh, I've been askin' for problems, problems, problems
I wage my war, on the world inside
I take my gun to the enemy's side
Oh, I've been askin' for (trust me, darling)
Oh, I've been askin' for (trust me, darling)
Problems, problems, problems
So look me in the eyes
Tell me what you see
Perfect paradise
Tearing at the seams
I wish I could escape
I don't wanna fake it
Wish I could erase it
Make your heart believe
But I'm a bad liar, bad liar
Now you know
Now you know
That I'm a bad liar, bad liar
Now you know, you're free to go
I can't breathe, I can't be
I can't be what you want me to be
Believe me, this one time
Believe me
I'm a bad liar, bad liar
Now you know
Now you know
That I'm a bad liar, bad liar
Now you know, you're free to go
Oh
Please believe me
Please believe me." The crowd applauds, some of the audience is crying.
I immediately start singing again, "You shout it out
But I can't hear a word you say
I'm talking loud not saying much
I'm criticized but all your bullets ricochet
You shoot me down, but I get up
I'm bulletproof nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down but I won't fall, I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium, I am titanium, I am titanium, I am titanium
Cut me down
But it's you who has further to fall
Ghost town, haunted love
Raise your voice, sticks and stones may break my bones
I'm talking loud not saying much
I'm bulletproof nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium, I am titanium
Stone-hard, machine gun
Firing at the ones who run
Stone-hard, thus bulletproof glass
You shoot me down but I won't fall, I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall, I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall, I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall, I am titanium
I am titanium." The crowd sang along with me on this one.
I laugh and sing some more "Ooooh
Here's to the Mondays watching all the cars on the freeway
I ain't got a thing to do can I sit here next to you? and oh oh oh
Yeah I kinda wish I got paid cause my card got maxed out yesterday
Could you give me a shot and I'll work with what I got
Not a dollar in my pocket but I rock it like I ain't broke, you know?
Ooooh
Here's to us oh oh
Here's to us oooh here's to us oh oh
Here's to never winning first place
Here's to crying on your first date
Here's to every single heartbreak
Here's to us oooh here's to us
Here's to the mistakes
Somehow they always drop you in the right place
So lets go another round til the sky is falling down
And we'll laugh all the shakers and movers
Now who's the loser? What a joke
Ooooh
Here's to us oh oh
Here's to us oooh here's to us oh oh
Here's to never winning first place
Here's to crying on your first date
Here's to every single heart break
Here's to us oooh here's to us
Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na
I'm a player I'm a hater
But I swear you'd never know
Cause I've got a smile on
I'm an extra con that just got off parole
Could've been a contender a pretender
Like a brand I play the role
But I'm not so what and that's just how it goes
Yeah!
Ooooh
Here's to us oh oh
Here's to us oooh here's to us oh oh
Here's to never winning first place
Here's to crying on your first date
Here's to all the bad first dates
Here's to every single heartbreak
Here's to raining on your own parade
Here's to showing up anyway
Here's to us here's to us here's to
Here's to the Mondays." The crowd screams with excitment as they know there's more songs.
I take a short drink break before singing again, "You like New York City in the daytime
I like New York City in the nighttime
You say you like sleeping with the air off
I don't, I need it on
You like the light coming through the windows
I sleep late, so I just keep 'em all closed
You ignore the music on the radio
I don't, I sing-a-long
I don't ask for you to change, baby no no no
And you don't ask for me to change
Tell me how we're not alike
But we work so well and we don't even know why
Funny how the stars crossed right
'Cause we work so well and we don't even know why
You can call it fire and ice
But we work so well and we don't even know why
We don't even know why, no no
We don't even know why, no no no
No no no no
We like it in the daytime
We like it in the end of time
No no no no
We like it in the daytime
We like it in the end of time
Cold outside and you're just in a T-shirt
I have cold blood even in a sweater
You start your night sippin' by the Kilo
I don't, I know you know
I don't ask for you to change, baby no no no
And you don't ask for me to change
Tell me how we're not alike
But we work so well and we don't even know why
Funny how the stars crossed right
'Cause we work so well and we don't even know why
You can call it fire and ice
But we work so well and we don't even know why
We don't even know why, no no (no no no)
We don't even know why, no no no
No no no no
We like it in the daytime (we don't even know)
We like it in the end of time (we don't even know)
No no no no
We like it in the daytime
(We don't even know, know, know, know, know, know, know, know, know)
We like it in the end of time
Somehow we end up on the same side
And you wouldn't think that we'd be alright
Even our eyes are different colors, but we see fine
Somehow we end up on the same side (up on the same side)
And you wouldn't think that we'd be alright
(Think that we'd be alright)
Even our eyes are different colors, but we see fine
(Oh) Tell me how we're not alike
But we work so well and we don't even know why
('Cause we work so well and we don't even know why, why)
Funny how the stars crossed right
'Cause we work so well and we don't even know why
(But we don't even know why)
You can call it fire and ice
But we work so well and we don't even know why
('Cause we work so well and we don't even know why, why)
We don't even know why, no no
We don't even know why, no no no
No no no no
We like it in the daytime (Oh)
We like it in the end of time (We don't even know why)
No no no no
We like it in the daytime
We like it in the nighttime." I'm out of breath but after a minute I manage to catch my breath.
I smile and begin to sing yet again, "I'm a bad girlfriend
I'm a bad girlfriend
You cancel plans for me
I cancel ours on you
Say I'd be back early
I don't get in 'til 2
You ask me where I've been
I tell you something vague
Think I messed up again
What can I say
Your mum says that she hates me
Thinks I'm fucking lazy
Your friends keep on telling you to leave me 'cause I'm crazy
I do some shit you can't forgive
But you better get used to it
I'm a bad girlfriend
I'm a bad girlfriend
You tell me your birthday
I forgot again
I'm a bad girlfriend
I'm a bad girlfriend
I can see you calling
I'm not answering
I'm laughing but I don't think that you're funny
I'm staying 'cause you give me all your money
I'm a bad girlfriend
I'm a bad girlfriend
I'm a, I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
Girlfriend
I'm a, I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
Girlfriend, yeah
You make me dinner then
I order take-away
You wanna meet my friends
I say another day
You trust me with your keys
And I fuck up your car
You're gonna stay with me
I break your heart
'Cause I'm one in a million
More like in a billion
I don't think it's cheating if I'm kissing other women
I do some shit you can't forgive
And you better get used to it
I'm a bad girlfriend
I'm a bad girlfriend
You tell me your birthday
I forgot again
I'm a bad girlfriend
I'm a bad girlfriend
I can see you calling
I'm not answering
I'm laughing but I don't think that you're funny
I'm staying 'cause you give me all your money
I'm a bad girlfriend
I'm a bad girlfriend
I'm a, I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
Girlfriend (but you already knew that)
I'm a, I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
Girlfriend, yeah
You should be with someone who's
Always gonna wake up with you
Always gonna tell you the truth
And not lie to you like I do
You should be with someone else
Someone who is not myself
You know I'm not good for your health
And everyone else can tell
I'm a bad girlfriend, yeah!
I'm a, I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
Girlfriend (but you already knew that)
I'm a, I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
Girlfriend, yeah
I'm a, I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
Girlfriend (but you already knew that)
I'm a, I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
I'm a, I'm a
I'm a bad bad girl
Girlfriend, yeah!" I laugh as some of the girls up front, just nodded in agreement with the song.
I smile as the next song starts up. I sing, "He is a hustler, he's no good at all
He is a loser, he's a bum, bum, bum, bum
He lies, he bluffs, he's unreliable
He is a sucker with a gun, gun, gun, gun
I know you told me I should stay away
I know you said he's just a dog astray
He is a bad boy with a tainted heart
And even I know this ain't smart
But mama I'm in love with a criminal
And this type of love isn't rational, it's physical
Mama please don't cry, I will be alright
All reason aside I just can't deny, I love the guy
He is a villain by the devil's law
He is a killer just for fun, fun, fun, fun
That man's a snitch and unpredictable
He's got no conscience, he got none, none, none, none
All I know, should've let go, but no
'Cause he's a bad boy with a tainted heart
And even I know this ain't smart
But mama I'm in love with a criminal
And this type of love isn't rational, it's physical
Mama please don't cry, I will be alright
All reason aside I just can't deny, I love that guy
And he's got my name,
Tattooed on his arm his lucky charm
So I guess it's okay he's with me
And I hear people talk
Trying to make remarks keep us apart
But I don't even hear I don't care
'Cause mama I'm in love with a criminal
And this type of love isn't rational, it's physical
Mama please don't cry, I will be alright
All reason aside I just can't deny, I love the guy
Mama I'm in love with a criminal
And this type of love isn't rational, it's physical
Mama please don't cry, I will be alright
All reason aside I just can't deny, I love the guy." Everyone in the crowd wasa going "Awww."
I smile and say, "This one is for you Nashville. I hope y'all enjoy." I start to sing, "I woke up in Nashville
But it still felt like a dream
Like the one I've been chasing
Since the day I first played my dad's six string
I loaded up the hand-me-down car
Went for broke, broke your heart
Didn't wanna but, boy, I thought I had to
But dreaming's just sleeping here without you
So, hello
I'm really glad you picked up your phone
I had to tell you, baby
I was so wrong for thinking you
Were something I could ever do without
Thought everything I wanted was in this town
But you were all that I needed all along
It took me long enough
But I woke up
I woke up in Nashville
'Cause those Broadway lights don't shine
The way that your eyes did
When they were staring back right back in mine
Been trying to live
With only half of my heart
Just sleep walking in the Tennessee dark
If I can't make every memory with you
Then dreaming's just sleeping here without you
So, hello
I'm really glad you picked up your phone
I had to tell you, baby
I was so wrong for thinking you
Were something I could ever do without
Thought everything I wanted was in this town
But you were all that I needed all along
It took me long enough
But I woke up
In a cold sweat
And catching my breath
Dropping my pride
And dropping you a line
I don't know where you are
I don't know who you're with
I don't know what to say
But I'm saying it
Hello
I'm really glad you picked up your phone
I had to tell you, baby
I was so wrong for thinking you
Were something I could ever do without
Thought everything I wanted was in this town
But you were all that I needed all along
It took me long enough
But I woke up
I woke up in Nashville
Just thinking of you still." I stop and listen to the applauding audience as they scream for more.
I laugh and continue to sing, loud and clear, "All we ever hear from you is blah blah blah
So, all we ever do is go ja ja ja
And we don't even care about what they say cause it's
Ja ja ja ja
Blah blah blah blah
All we ever hear from you is blah blah blah
So, all we ever do is go ja ja ja
And we don't even care about what they say cause it's
Ja ja ja ja
Blah blah blah blah
All we ever hear from you is blah blah blah
Blah blah blah
Blah blah blah
Blah blah blah
Blah blah blah
Blah blah blah
Blah blah blah.....
All we ever hear from you is blah blah blah
So, all we ever do is go ja ja ja
And we don't even care about what they say cause it's
Ja ja ja ja
Blah blah blah blah
All we ever hear from you is blah blah blah
So, all we ever do is go ja ja ja
And we don't even care about what they say cause it's
Ja ja ja ja
Blah blah blah blah." The crowd roars with anticipation of more songs.
I immediately start singing again, "Why am I always hit on by the boys I never like
I can always see 'em coming, from the left or from the right
I don't want to be a priss, I'm just try'na be polite
But it always seems to bite me in the
Ask me for my number, yeah, you put me on the spot
You think that we should hook up, but I think that we should not
You had me at "hello", then you opened up your mouth
And that is when it started going south
Oh!
Get your hands off my hips, 'fore I'll punch you in the lips
Stop your staring at my hey!
Take a hint, take a hint
No you can't buy me a drink, let me tell you what I think
I think you could use a mint
Take a hint, take a hint
T-take a hint, take a hint
I guess you still don't get it, so let's take it from the top
You asked me what my sign is, and I told you it was "stop"
And if I had a dime for every name that you just dropped
You'd be here and I'd be on a yacht
Oh!
Get your hands off my hips, 'fore I'll punch you in the lips
Stop your staring at my hey!
Take a hint, take a hint
No you can't buy me a drink, let me tell you what I think
I think you could use a mint
Take a hint, take a hint
T-take a hint, take a hint
What about "no" don't you get?
So go and tell your friends
I'm not really interested
It's about time that you're leavin'
I'm gonna count to three and
Open my eyes and
You'll be gone
One
Get your hands off my
Two
Or I'll punch you in the
Three
Stop your staring at my hey!
Take a hint, take a hint
I am not your missing link
Let me tell you what I think
I think you could use a mint
Take a hint, take a hint
Take a hint, take a hint
Woah!
Get your hands off my hips, 'fore I'll punch you in the lips
Stop your staring at my hey!
Take a hint, take a hint
T-take a hint, take a hint!" Most of the girls sang along as they knew the song by heart due to the same thing happening to them.
I smile and close my eyes, preparing for the next song. I take a deep breath and start singing, "I wrote a song, a journal gave it to the world
Told the story of when I was just a girl
I sought understanding clarity in truth
By baring all the wounds inflicted on my youth
You criticized my choice to stand up to my past
To give the pain a voice so that it too could pass
But I felt brave and filled with pride as I let go
Of bitterness that wouldn't leave or let me grow
But I will spend a lifetime
Trying to understand
Why someone sharing my bloodline
Would not lend me their hand
Am I supposed to apologize?
Am I supposed to apologize?
Am I supposed to apologize?
Am I supposed to apologize?
I loved her more than myself but she made me choose
Between her and my father and so I refused
I fled her house and wrath eleven years of age
Followed the crooked path that led me to a stage
The curtains opened up my heart followed the lead
The music wouldn't stop and I could finally breathe
But I will spend a lifetime
Trying to understand
Why someone sharing my bloodline
Would not lend me their hand
Am I supposed to apologize?
Am I supposed to apologize?
Am I supposed to apologize?
Am I supposed to apologize?"
I stop and listen as people gasp before continuing on to the next song, "She's got blue eyes, long legs,
Pretty rosy cheeks and
I've got fair skin, brown hair
Not what you wanted
Baby, I'm sorry
I'm not exactly what you had in mind
But please don't leave
If you stay I promise I will change your mind
And is it too much to ask to just be wanted
To feel the love I feel for you return
And is it so wrong to feel that you could love me
I guess the problem is that I'm not her
She's got a big smile, soft hands
Perfect little dimples
I've got torn jeans, chipped nails
Everything is simple
Baby, I'm sorry
Im' not exactly what you had in mind
But please don't leave
If you stay I promise I will change your mind
And is it too much to ask to just be wanted
To feel the love I feel for you return
And is it so wrong to feel that you could love me
I guess the problem is that I'm not her
I'm not her
I'm not her
She's got blue eyes, long legs,
Pretty rosy cheeks
And I've got fair skin, brown hair
Not what you wanted anymore." Everyone claps, clearly all the girls are crying as they've felt the same way I did when I wrote this song.
I smile as the music starts up for the next song and I sing, "Daylight is fading away, night silhouettes in the sky
LED lights are flashing on towers
It's Manhattan's magical time
Ballerinas dancing the Swan Lake
On a river made of diamonds and pearls
Everything's a little bit weird now
Because tonight, it is showtime
In the middle of the street life
All we celebrate are good times
Because tonight, it is showtime
Come and walk with me
1273 down the Rockefeller street
Life is marchin' on, do you feel that?
1273 down the Rockefeller street
Everything is more than surreal
Oldschool Hollywood stars
Party cinderellas are here
They move like computer game heroes
Because they know it is showtime
In the middle of the street life
All they celebrate are good times
Because tonight it is showtime
So let's keep movin' on
1273 down the Rockefeller street
Life is marchin' on, do you feel that?
1273 down the Rockefeller street
Everything is more than surreal
So let's keep movin' on
Keep movin', keep movin', keep movin', keep movin'
If you want to know what Rockefeller groove is
Keep movin', keep movin', keep movin', keep movin'
Time is right to celebrate good times
Keep movin', keep movin', keep movin', keep movin'
If you want to know what Rockefeller groove is
Keep movin', keep movin', keep movin', keep movin'
Time is right to celebrate the good times
1273 down the Rockefeller street
Life is marchin' on, do you feel that?
1273 down the Rockefeller street
Everything is more than surreal
So let's keep movin' on
Keep movin', keep movin', keep movin', keep movin'
If you want to know what Rockefeller groove is
Keep movin', keep movin', keep movin', keep movin'
Time is right to celebrate the good times
We're singing
1273 down the Rockefeller street
Life is marchin' on, do you feel that?
We're singing
1273 down the Rockefeller street
Everything is more than surreal."
I stop and wait for the mood to die down before singing, "Little girl terrified
She'd leave her room if only bruises would heal
A home is no place to hide
Her heart is breaking from the pain that she feels
Every day's the same
She fights to find her way
She hurts, she breaks, she hides
And tries to pray
She wonders why
Does anyone ever hear her when she cries
Today she's turning sixteen
Everyone singing, but she can't seem to smile
They never get past arms length
How could they act like everything is alright?
Pulling down her long sleeves
To cover all the memories that scars leave
She says, "maybe making me bleed
Will be the answer that could wash the slate clean"
Every day's the same
She fights to find her way
She hurts, she breaks, she hides
And tries to pray
She wonders why
Does anyone ever hear her when she cries
This is the dark before the dawn
The storm before the peace
Don't be afraid 'cause seasons change
And God is watching over you
He hears you
Every day's the same
She fights to find her way
She hurts, she breaks, she hides
And tries to pray
She'll be just fine
'Cause now he hears her when she cries
Every day's the same
She fights to find her way
She hurts, she breaks, she hides
And tries to pray
She'll be just fine
'Cause now I know he hears her when she cries
She'll be just fine
'Cause now I know he hears her when she cries." The crowd is all crying as the song played with their heartstrings.
I take a short five minute break to catch my breath and to get a drink before I continue to sing, "I see your red door, I want it painted black
No colors anymore, I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
I see the line of cars and they're all painted black
With flowers and my love, both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly looked away
Like a newborn baby it just happens everyday
I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door, I must have it painted black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not easy facing up when your whole world is black
No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the setting sun
My love will laugh with me before the morning comes
(I want to see your face painted black
Black as night, black as coal
See the sun blotted out from the sky)
I've seen your red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore, I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes." The crowd is dead silent after understanding the meaning behind this song.
I then sing again, "I sleep all day
I prowl at night
Do anything to feel alive
I'm in the end just what you made me
I look the same
But I'm not fine
The Master of my own disguise
If you knew the truth you'd probably hate me
I need a fight
I've got you in my sights
Only one of us will make it out alive
I'm turning into a monster
You better run and hide
I'm turning into a monster
Right before your eyes
My tongue is a weapon
And I'm locked and loaded
When you least expect it
You won't know it's coming
And I'll strike, cause I'm a monster
I'm merciless, when will you learn?
Set fires just to watch them burn
I bet you never saw me coming
Delirium takes over me
You're just another casualty
I can hear your heartbeat drumming
I need a fight
I've got you in my sights
Only one of us will make it out alive
I'm turning into a monster
You better run and hide
I'm turning into a monster
Right before your eyes
My tongue is a weapon
And I'm locked and loaded
When you least expect it
You won't know it's coming
And I'll strike, cause I'm a monster
I'm turning into a monster
You better run and hide
I'm turning into a monster
Right before your eyes
My tongue is a weapon
And I'm locked and loaded
When you least expect it
You won't know it's coming
And I'll strike, cause I'm a monster
I'm a monster." The crowd laughs happily as they all know that feeling.
I rap one more time, "I got a song filled with shit for the strong willed
When the world gives you a raw deal
Set you off 'til you
Scream, "piss off, screw you"
When it talks to you like you don't belong
Or tells you you're in the wrong field
When something's in your mitochondrial
'Cause it latched on to you, like
Knock knock, let the devil in, malevolent
As I've ever been, head is spinnin', this medicine
Screaming, "L-l-l-let us in"
L-l-lick like a salad bowl, Edgar Allen Poe
Bedridden, shoulda been dead a long time ago
Liquid Tylenol, gelatins, think my skeleton's meltin'
Wicked, I get all high when I think I've smelled the scent
Of elephant manure
Hell, I meant Kahlúa, screw it, to hell with it
I went through hell with accelerants and blew up
My-my-myself again, Volkswagen, tailspin
Bucket matches my pale skin, mayo and
Went from Hellmann's and being rail thin, Filet-o-Fish
Scribble Jam, Rap Olympics '97 Freaknik
How can I be down? Me and Bizarre in Florida
Proof's room slept on floor of 'da motel then
Dr. Dre said, "Hell yeah"
And I got his stamp like a postcard, word to Mel-Man
And I know they're gonna hate but I don't care, I
Barely can wait to hit 'em with the snare and the bass
Square in the face, this fuckin' world better prepare to get laced
Because they're gonna taste my
Venom
(I got that) Adrenaline momentum (venom)
Not knowing when I'm
Ever gonna slow up and I'm
Ready to snap any moment-um
Thinkin' it's time to go get 'em
They ain't gonna know what hit 'em
(When they get bit with the)
Venom
(I got that) Adrenaline momentum (venom)
Not knowing when I'm
Ever gonna slow up and I'm
Ready to snap any moment-um
Thinking it's time to go get 'em
They ain't gonna know what hit 'em
(When they get bit with the)
I said knock knock, let the devil in
Shotgun p-p-pellets in the felt pen
Cocked, fuck around and catch a hot one
I-i-it's evident I'm not done
V-venomous, the thoughts spun like a web and you just caught in 'em
Held against your will like a hubcap or a mud flap
Be strangled or attacked
So this ain't gonna feel like a love tap
Eat painkiller pills, fuck up the track
Like, what's her name at the wheel?
Danica Patrick
Threw the car into reverse at the Indy, end up crashin'
Into ya, look back and it's just mangled steel
My Mustang and the Jeep Wrangler grill
With the front smashed, much as my rear fender, assassin
Slim be the combination of an actual kamikaze and Gandhi
Translation, I will probably kill us both when I end up
Back in India
You ain't gonna be able to tell what the fuck's happened
End of ya, when you're bit with the
Venom
(I got that) Adrenaline momentum (venom)
And I'm not knowin' when I'm
Ever gonna slow up and I'm
Ready to snap any moment I'm
Thinkin' it's time to go get 'em
They ain't gonna know what hit 'em
(W-W-When they get bit with the)
Venom
(I got that) Adrenaline momentum (venom)
And I'm not knowin' when I'm
Ever gonna slow up and I'm
Ready to snap any moment I'm
Thinking it's time to go get 'em
They ain't gonna know what hit 'em
(W-W-When they get bit with the)
I said knock knock, let the devil in, alien
E-E-Elliot phone home, ain't no telling when this chokehold
On this game will end, I'm loco
Became a Symbiote, so
My fangs are in your throat, hoe
You're snake-bitten with my
Venom
With the ballpoint pen I'm
Gun cocked, bump stock, double-aught, buckshot
Tire thumper, a garrote
Tie a couple knots, fired up and caught fire
Juggernaut
Punk rock, bitch, it's goin' down like Yung Joc
'Cause the Doc put me on like sunblock
Why the fuck not?
You only get one shot
Ate shit 'til I can't taste it
Chased it with straight liquor
Then paint thinner, then drank 'til I faint
And awake with a headache and I take anything in
Rectangular shape, then I wait
To face the demons I'm bonded to
'Cause they're chasin' me but I'm part of you
So escapin' me is impossible
I latch onto you like a
Parasite, and I probably ruined your parents' life
And your childhood too
'Cause if I'm the music that y'all grew up on
I'm responsible for you retarded fools
I'm the supervillain dad and mom was losin' their marbles to
You marvel that? Eddie Brock is you
And I'm the suit, so call me
Venom
(I got that) Adrenaline momentum (venom)
Not knowing when I'm
Ever gonna slow up and I'm
Ready to snap any moment I'm
Thinking it's time to go get 'em
They ain't gonna know what hit 'em
(W-W-When they get bit with the)
Venom
(I got that) Adrenaline momentum (venom)
And I'm not knowin' when I'm
Ever gonna slow up and I'm
Ready to snap any moment I'm
Thinkin' it's time to go get 'em
They ain't gonna know what hit 'em
(W-W-When they get bit with the)" Everyone screams "Venom" at the end.
I close my eyes and sing, "Baby blue staring in the window pane
Just counting drops of rain
Wondering if she's got the guts to take it
Running down her dreams in a dirty dress,
Now her heart's a mess
Praying she'll find a way to make it
So keep on climbing, though the ground might shake
Just keep on reaching though the limb might break
We've come this far, don't you be scared now
'Cause you can learn to fly on the way down
Searching for a sign in the night even like a lonely string of lights
That'll burn just long enough for you to see it
The road's been long and lonely and you feel like giving up
There's more to this than just the breath you're breathing
So keep on climbing, though the ground might shake
Just keep on reaching though the limb might break
We've come this far, don't you be scared now
'Cause you can learn to fly on the way down
On the way down
You won't forget the heavy steps it took to let it go
Close your eyes, count to ten, hold your breath and fly
Keep on climbing, though the ground might shake
Just keep on reaching though the limb might break
We've come this far, don't you be scared now
'Cause you can learn to fly on the way down
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
Fly
Fly." I open my eyes and smile.
I take one more deep breath before I sing the third to last song of the night, "The night beckons while you dream
A life never lives in peace
As you stand upon the edge
Woven by a single thread
And fate may fall down upon you
While the devil is knocking
Right at your door
So all you restless
Each night you hear the drums of war
Awaken, awaken
The voice begins to call you while you hunger
A taste of destiny you're searching for
Awaken, awaken
The fight is at your door, take up the cause
Awaken, awaken, awaken
Awaken, awaken, awaken, awaken
As you stand upon the edge
Hanging in the balance (Oh)
And fate may fall down upon you
While the devil is knocking
So all you restless
Each night you hear the drums of war
(Hear the drums of war)
Awaken, awaken
The voice begins to call you while you hunger
(While you hunger)
A taste of destiny you're searching for
Awaken, awaken, awaken."
I start to sing the second to last song of the night, "You were the shadow to my light
Did you feel us
Another start
You fade away
Afraid our aim is out of sight
Wanna see us
Alive
Where are you now
Where are you now
Where are you now
Was it all in my fantasy
Where are you now
Were you only imaginary
Where are you now
Atlantis
Under the sea
Under the sea
Where are you now
Another dream
The monsters running wild inside of me
I'm faded
I'm faded
So lost
I'm faded
I'm faded
So lost
I'm faded
These shallow waters, never met
What I needed
I'm letting go
A deeper dive
Eternal silence of the sea
I'm breathing
Alive
Where are you now
Where are you now
Under the bright
But faded lights
You set my heart on fire
Where are you now
Where are you now
Where are you now
Atlantis
Under the sea
Under the sea
Where are you now
Another dream
The monsters running wild inside of me
I'm faded
I'm faded
So lost
I'm faded
I'm faded
So lost
I'm faded." Everyone is either crying or clapping.
I smile, "This song is a song I wrote and then had revised by an old friend of mine, so if it sounds weird coming from me, just remember that it was revised." I say and then sing the final song of the night, "I remember, trying not to stare, the night that I first met you
You had me mesmerized
And three weeks later, in the front porch light
Taking forty-five minutes to kiss goodnight
I hadn't told you yet
But I thought I loved you then
And now you're my whole life
Now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
Like a river meets the sea,
Stronger than it's ever been.
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then
And I remember, taking you back to right where I first met you,
You were so surprised
There were people around, but I didn't care
I got down on one knee right there and once again,
I thought I loved you then
But now you're my whole life
Now you're my whole world
I just can't believe, the way I feel about you, girl
Like a river meets the sea,
Stronger than it's ever been.
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then
And I can just see you, with a baby on the way
And I can just see you, when your hair is turning gray
What I can't see is how I'm ever gonna love you more
But I've said that before
And now you're my whole life
Now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
We'll look back someday, at this moment that we're in
And I'll look at you and say
And I thought I loved you then
And I thought I loved you then." I smile and bow. As soon as I'm done I walk off the stage. I walk up to Luna and Frodo as soon as I get backstage and say, "So what did you two think?"
Frodo hugs me unexpectedly and answers, "That was beautiful, I can't believe that you can rap."
I smile, "Thanks." I reply. I then look at Luna, there's a twinkle in my eyes.
"Why don't you sing like this more?" Luna asked, eyes sparkling.
"Sing like what?" I ask, tilting my head, clearly confused.
"Well you sound so wonderful so why don't you sing all the time? I wish I could hear you sing to me every night." Luna replied, looking at me as if I was a star.
"Thanks… and the reason I don't sing all the time is because the songs that I've been working on lately are all… well… depressing…" I say, looking down at the floor to hide the sadness hidden in my eyes.
"Why?" Luna asks, curiously.
"Why are they depressing? Well that's because I've suffered so much, life has always been hard for me." I say, still looking at the floor.
"I am sorry, I will tell you about the deal with father if you want?" Luna, asks looking at the floor.
I shake my head, "No no, it's fine, don't worry about it, besides I have plenty of things to keep me distracted." I say. Luna looks at me and smiles.
"Alright." she says.
I sigh and look up from the floor, "Anyone wanna go out for some alcohol?" I say with an evil grin on my face.
"Sure!" Luna replies, bouncing up and down.
"Wait seriously?" I say, surprised. I clearly wasn't expecting a straight out yes, I was clearly expecting a 'Chara are you fucking serious right now?'
"Yah, why not? I think you deserve it anyway." Luna laughs.
I smile, "Okay then, come on, I know the perfect bar that we can go to." I say, running off.
"Alright." Luna says following me. I take Luna and Frodo to Jason Aldean's Kitchen + Rooftop Bar.
"Woah, nice place, who owns it?" Frodo asks.
"Jason Aldean owns the place, besides I get free drinks because I'm friends with Jason so yeah. Let's head inside." I say, smiling, and I enter the bar. Luna follows wide eyed. "I forget… Have you ever been to a bar?" I ask, watching as Luna blushes.
"No, I have not been to a bar before." She says, looking at the ground fiddling with her dress.
I laugh and walk over to the bartender. "Is Jason here tonight? I sorta need help coming up with a good country song for my country fans." I ask.
"Oh yeah, he's out back, would you like me to get him for you?" The bartender asks and I shake my head.
"Frodo keep an eye on Luna, I'll be out back. Oh and don't worry about paying for your drinks, they're on me, which makes 'em free." I say, smiling before walking out the backdoor to hang out with Jason.
Frodo looks at Luna and smiles, "You alright?" he asks her.
"Yeah, I wish I could change back to my Demon angel form, but I now have wings so I can't." I hear Luna say, seeming very sad.
Frodo hugs Luna, "You'll be fine, besides, no one else here can see your wings except me and Chara." he says kindly.
"True, but having six wings makes me feel uncomfortable. I feel like father now. I can't be like father, Father is father he's the only one to have six wings." I hear Luna say with sadness.
Frodo smiles, "Don't worry, we'll figure out what to do about that later. For now, focus on having fun." Frodo says.
"Alright, let's do that." Luna says, switching from almost crying to a beaming smile.
Frodo laughs, "Alright, well first let's get something to eat and drink." he says with a grin.
"What's good here?" Luna asks, with a slight evil grin.
"Dunno, let's get a table and check the menu." Frodo says. I walk back in with Jason, laughing at something he said.
"You know Jason we could always record a duet or a compilation together. I've got an album that needs a few more songs and I want to add new songs but haven't really written any good songs yet." I say.
"Sounds like a great idea Chara. I might take you up on that offer. Y'all have a good time here in Nashville, I'll be around. I gotta go home now but feel free to stay for as long as you want, just remember to lock the place up before y'all leave tonight, and remember closing time is twelve in the morning. Well, I'll see y'all later. 'Night." Jason says, leaving. I walk up to Luna and Frodo who are sitting at a table in the corner.
"Chara, what is good here?" Luna asks staring up at me from her chair.
"Lots of things, I LOVE their root beer floats, but then again they put actual beer in it, so I would mainly recommend the steaks." I say, practically drooling at the idea of steak.
"Alright then, I'll take whatever you're having." Luna says, laughing her new eyes, one blue one red glowing with laughter.
I take a seat and wave over the waiter. "Three steaks please. One root beer float with extra ice cream on the side as well as three shots of tequila. Frodo what do you want to drink?" I ask, ordering a steak for everyone.
"I'll have a margarita please." Frodo says, ordering a drink for himself. I look at Luna and wait for her to order her own drink.
"I'll have what she's having." Luna said, pointing at me.
The waiter nods and walks into the kitchen, relaying our order. "So, how are you two getting along?" I ask Luna and Frodo, an evil smirk on my face.
"Okay, why do you ask?" Luna asks, staring at me, her head tilted to the right.
"Oh no reason, just wondering that's all." I say, examining my nails.
"Oh, okay." Luna says, staring at me.
Frodo narrows his eyes, he's clearly on to me. "Yeah, uh huh, sure Chara. Stop prying into my personal life." he says.
"Wait, you have a personal life???" I say, tilting my head cutely.
"Chara, please stop." Luna says, as she holds her head as she sometimes does when she's agitated.
"Stop what?" I ask, acting innocent.
"You're horrible at that." Luna says laughing as she bats her eyelashes.
"I am not!" I argue. Luna laughs harder.
"You revealed yourself!" She laughs, smiling.
I snarl, "Damn you and your reverse psychology!" Luna laughs so hard she falls out of her chair.
Frodo gets up and helps Luna up, "You alright??" he asks.
"Yeah, I am alright…" Luna says, rubbing her wrists.
Frodo smiles, "Good, I'm glad." he says and I just smirk, watching my own plan unfold.
As if Luna could read my thoughts, she asks, "What are you thinking about over there Chara?"
"Nothing. Leave me alone and stop reading my thoughts." I snap. Can't let her know that I too can read minds… I think quietly to myself.
"Alright." Luna says. I sigh and look around, there are people looking over at us but I ignore them. Just then our drinks are served, six shots of tequila, one margarita, and two root beer floats with extra ice cream on the side.
The waiter says, "Your steaks are almost done. I will be out with them momentarily." He then walks away.
I down my three shots of tequila and finish my root beer float in less than a minute. I then start eating the ice cream and no more than a minute later it's gone. Frodo and Luna just stare at me in shock. "What?" I ask, tilting my head.
Frodo asks, "How the fuck did you eat all that ice cream without getting a brainfreeze?" Luna just shakes her head. Just then our steaks arrive, there's six of them.
I sigh. "We only ordered three." I say, but then add, "Oh well, I can always take the extra's home with me." The waiter sets the six plates on the table.
"Would you like anything else?" The waiter asks, looking directly at me.
"Some Barbeque sauce would be fantastic!" I say with a smile.
The waiter says, "Right away miss." then leaves. The waiter then returns with the BBQ Sauce before leaving again. The three of us begin to eat one steak each. As soon as we finish I have the other three steaks boxed and the waiter brings the check. I tip the waiter 50 bucks and pay the bill with cash. We then leave and head our separate ways, Luna with me of course. Luna and I climb into the corvette and I start up the engine. I then begin the long drive to Wolfy's Diner.
