Tears of A Man

"You don't even know who I am," Hung Dao said to the mother.

"Yes, I don't know you. But from your body, I can sense strongly the aura of the dragon. From the moment you stepped into this house, I know you are a member of the royal family," the mother's eyes change quickly. Not warm anymore but sharp and cold as a sword.

Hung Dao was surprised again. Now he knows who Ngu Lao inherited his personality from.

"But mom, I don't want to leave you!" Ngu Lao said on the bed.

"Lao Lao," the mother turned to Ngu Lao, her eyes turned back to being a mother. "When I asked why wouldn't you go and celebrate the first scholar of the village with everyone, didn't you say you are embarrassed because as a man, you haven't achieved anything? Now that this opportunity was given to you, Isn't that heaven's will?"

"But I don't want to leave you, mom. Let me stay with you until you leave," Ngu Lao cried for the first time in years.

"Lao Lao, what if I live to one hundred years? You will be in your seventies then."

"Then I'll go then. Mom, I don't care! Let me stay with you!"

"Pham Ngu Lao!!!" the mother yelled. She quickly went to the kitchen and came back with a knife at the throat. "If me being dead set you free, I will die right now before your eyes!!!"

"No! Mom! Please no!!!" Ngu Lao fell out of the bed and kneeled before her. "If that is what you wish mom, then I'll go," he cried looking at his mother.

"I'll go."
