Snake Slapping

Heading back into the castle, Ron continued to curse Hagrid, while Harry contemplated on what their next move would be.

Edward turned to the both of them.

"Listen, I think we should just head to bed now and figure out our next move in the morning."

"Yeah, that would be best," Harry agreed, nodding his head.

"How the bloody hell am I meant to get to sleep? I'll have nightmares for months!" Ron cried, his voice cracking several times.

Harry and Edward burst into laughter as they walked back to the common room, leaving Ron to quickly chase behind them.

"Hey! It's not funny! Wait up!"

***

The room was filled with the sound of Ron snoring.

So much for being unable to sleep!

As the others slept, Edward had his eyes wide open, and once he made sure they were definitely asleep, he lifted himself off the bed as quietly as he possibly could.

Manipulating his sound with magic, he crept to the wardrobe and quickly grabbed his clothes and changed. He couldn't fight a Basilisk in his pajamas!

However, as he closed the wardrobe door, he was greeted with the beady, unflinching eyes of a small, chubby boy.

"Holy-" Edward barely stopped his shout as his heart skipped a beat. He suppressed his voice to a whisper, "What are you doing Neville?"

"Where are you going," Neville interrogated, his buck teeth and beady eyes glimmering in the moonlight.

"I'm doing stuff."

"What sort of stuff?"

"The sort that's none of your business, to be frank Neville."

Neville frowned and glared at him, trying to look intimidating.

"I can't let you do that Edward. We each just lost 50 points for sneaking that dragon out. I can't let you lose us any more points."

A staring competition between the two continued for a while before Edward spoke up again.

"Did you watch me change?"

"..."

Edward groaned.

"Shouldn't this have happened in the last movie?"

"I don't understand what you mean."

"No, course you don't."

Sighing, Edward looked Neville dead in the eyes before abruptly slamming the wardrobe door into his face.

His strength was ridiculously high for this world, so you can imagine what happened.

"Well that wasn't very quiet," Edward said, as he checked to see that everyone was still sleeping.

"Let's go then."

Instantaneously, Edward apparated into the Chamber of Secrets to Tom Riddle's suprise.

Recovering from his shock, Riddle stood up to face Edward, an unconscious, ginger girl at his feet.

"Who are you?" he spat, a scowl on his face.

"Come on Tom, that's no way to treat an old friend. I know you're going through puberty but don't be like that," Edward mocked with fake sincerity.

Walking over, he spread his arms, as if to embrace Riddle.

"Get away from me!" he hissed.

Slinking away from him, Riddle started to speak in Parseltongue, his vicious hisses echoing throughout the Chamber.

At his call, a large Basilisk snaked out of the large stone head's mouth, the floods of water in the chamber parting for the gigantic, scaly monster. It's malicious, yellow eyes looked down upon the tiny creatures below it, as it licked it's white daggers.

"Kill him!" Riddle demanded in Parseltongue.

Starving for a meal, the Basilisk lurched towards Edward, who quickly apparated mere millimetres away from where it struck.

As it landed, the floor cracked beneath it and the Chamber rumbled.

"You're pet isn't very well trained Tom. It can't even touch me," Edward said, further aggravating Riddle.

"Kill him!"

Once again, the snake struck with it's head snapping out at Edward, who dodged by millimetres once again. Enraged, the snake eratically attacked, smashing through the statues at the side, using its tail, body, fangs, in an attempt to exterminate the pest below to no avail.

"Alright, I'm getting bored of this."

Edward then proceeded to begin speaking in Parseltongue towards the Basilisk.

Despite his shock, Riddle still managed to sneer at Edward.

"It won't work, he's only loyal to the heir of Sly- what is going on?"

The Basilisk had stopped attacking Edward and turned to Riddle, hunger in its eyes.

"Now, what if someone stronger had the blood of Slytherin?"

"How? This is impossible! I'm the heir! I'm the chosen one!"

As Riddle started having a hissy fit, the Basilisk was slowly slithering towards him.

"Go for the book," Edward ordered (in Parseltongue).

Realising too late, Riddle quickly tried to grab the book, but was just impaled by the Basilisk's teeth that continued through his chest and into the book.

"Noooooooooooooo!" his wretched cries resounded in the chamber as he exploded into light.

After this, Edward turned to the snake, who returned the look. He then smiled, to which the creature cocked it's scaly head in confusion until Edward disappeared from the spot, appearing right next to his head.

"You seem quite sturdy so I'll try out my strength on you."

He lifted his hand and slapped the snake, sending it's head crashing into the stone walls, shattering it's skull and upper vertebrae.

"Oh. Well that's that then."

After all the commotion, Edward returned to his comfy bed and fell into a deep sleep.

There was no more snake slapping after that.

The next day, Ron and Harry entered the Chamber of Secrets and found Ginny, the book and the Basilisk corpse. On top of the book was a note that explained Riddle's real identity and the role of the book.

Staring up at the huge Basilisk corpse, Ron whistled.

"Didn't know Ginny was that strong. Better not mess with her again," he joked.

As they woke Ginny up and helped her out of the chamber, Harry couldn't help racking his brain to figure out who defeated Riddle and the Basilisk.

Could they be linked to the person who defeated Quirrell? Were they a friend or foe?

All these questions floated around in his head, but he had no answers, and so decided to forget the matter for now.

"Well jolly good show. Now shall we leave?" Lockhart tried to usher the boys out.

Yes. For some reason, Lockhart didn't end up taking Ron's wand and have it backfire this time, which meant he hadn't ended up as a gormless idiot again.

Anyway, the trio left the chamber and reported their findings to Dumbledore, who congratulated them and contacted the Ministry to free Hagrid.

After that, life continued as usual until the school year ended and everyone headed home.

The reflection of a mirror, covered in a black mist, served as the only light in a cold, dark room. On that mirror was Edward saying his goodbyes to Harry and Ron at Platform 9 and 3 quarters.

"My Lord, do you not think we should remove the threat in its infant stage? Surely killing him now would be the best option," a raspy voice spoke from the pitch black.

A shadowy figure sat in a rectangular throne as he seemed to stroke his chin, obscured by darkness.

"No. This may be the only time I get a real fight," the figure on the throne boomed with a dominating voice.

"As you wish, my Lord."

For a moment, the scene in the mirror reflected onto the shadowy figure's eyes, which glinted a golden colour.

"Edward Lyore. What an interesting mortal."
