here we go again

On some islands clustered together, there lies a modern civilization whose technology is considered to be one of the best in the world. In those islands also lies the world's largest city.

A city considered to be one of the safest that even a 7-year-old can travel alone. In that city, there was a specific district that had the Pacific Ocean to its side. Just at the bay, there was a building.

The strange thing about this is even though it nearly was 10 am, you couldn't spot a single person around or near the building. The roads were sealed by a kilometer radius from the building.

The only people there were armed from head to toe. Just outside the building were 11 people, 10 of them who carried fully automatic assault rifles, 2 handguns in their holster, 2 10-feet radius grenades, 2 flashbangs, a smoke bomb, and 2 military daggers in the narrow pockets of their boots. All had enough ammo to fill their magazine three times.

They all wore helmets, bullet-proof vests, and long boots. The only design they had was a small white WS printed at the back of their helmet and to the left of their jacket. These were all WS soldiers who were picked for this mission.

Not showing signs of irritation by the hot sun, whose light and heat their all-black attire absorbed, they awaited their commander's orders.

The commander was someone who could be easily distinguished from the rest. The commander's equipment was relatively smaller and smarter than the men she was about to lead.

She wore a black mask instead of a helmet, which allowed them to see her crimson red orbs, which combined well with her outfit to give an aggressive look. A slimmer, lighter jacket, and a tighter suit which revealed a glimpse of her curves.

She efficiently carried an M14 without difficulty as she walked in short heels. The wind lifted her hair to give a menacing look. An infrared scan showed the locations of the guards inside the building.

As soon as the clock chimed 10 am, Vanessa threw a flash bang and ordered to go in. The mission to take down Jira began.

Although the soldiers had only gathered before the building five minutes ago, they showed excellent unity and teamwork. There were 15 floors to the grand architecture, and the soldiers steadily kept clearing each one.

Jira's guards were fully prepared and stood their ground, but WS eventually conquered each floor. The only problem was, it was easier than it was supposed to be.

While many made tactical formations were organized, some would break the structure and run in fear. WS preferred capture over kill. The soldiers tried to avoid fatal shots.

Vanessa was suspicious when they broke formation. When it happened the third time, she caught the one who broke it. She pulled off the helmet. What appeared to her was a terrified man whose mouth was sealed with tape. She tore off the tape, and he pleaded for mercy.

'Please don't kill me. I-I'm not with them. I'm a resident near here. They kidnapped several of us and made us do this. Help us, please.'

'Shit, they're mixing civilians with the guards.'

The man begged, joining his hands and got on all fours.

'All units are strictly advised not to engage those who do not seem to show hostility.'

Vanessa ordered as she stood back.

--This will make it trickier.

'You follow us from the back. Got it?'

An efficient way to protect the civilian and keep advancing. However, his tired eyes wanted to close. Unable to give an answer, Vanessa grabbed his throat.

'Got IT?'

'Y...es.'

The man ran to the back.

'All units advance with caution.'

Vanessa pressed forward. She kept thinking about how Jira was prepared. Did they know WS was going to attack today? If so, how did they find out?

The soldier kept clearing each floor and rescued the civilians. They had reached the ninth level and had gathered 13 civilians. The next floor was supposed to be where Watson was. 2 soldiers were poorly injured and were unable to continue. Even with 2 wounded soldiers, the progress so far was significant.

Vanessa did the calculations and made her decision. She picked three of the remaining soldiers to escort the 2 injured and 13 civilians to the ground floor. She was confident that even with the 5 soldiers and herself, she could take control of the 10th floor.

The only thing she was worried about was that they had yet to find the missiles. The 3 soldiers were also going to search for the missiles down below.

'All units take your positions.'

The mission was nearing its final phase. The team cautiously approached the 10th floor. The guards were more skilled than the rest. Perhaps because there were no civilians mixed in them. Vanessa had a hard time breaking the formation.

Nevertheless, she spearheaded the team, acting as the vanguard and managed to break through. The guards there were on par with WS soldiers. 2 of them sustained injuries to their arms and legs, but it was worth it. One of the soldiers stayed to give the two medical assistance.

The remaining went with Vanessa. She had arrived in front of the room where Watson was. All that separated him from her was a door.

'This is the WS. We have you surrounded.'

'The door is unlocked, you can come in.'

A calm voice came behind the door. The speech was not disturbed or shaky. It was like a host inviting his guests. One of the soldiers gently touched the handle, waiting for any mishap to happen. To their surprise, as he turned it, the door swung open.

Inside was a considerably large room that had a soothing view of the ocean. A man was enjoying that view, resting his feet on an electronic desk.

'Don't move.'

WS took their position.
