He is Too Conceited!

After driving off, the man focused solely on the road, remaining silent all the way. The girl joined the deafening silence, resting her chin on the cup of her palm as she gazed outside the window, focusing on nothing but the fleeting streetlights.

The little heart of hers was beating like crazy.

She could not deny that the man was an homme fatale. He closing in on her almost made her heart jump out of her chest.

After about ten minutes, the car came to a stop in the middle of a higher-class residential area. The entire place was called Qin Park and each house there was at least more than a hundred thousand square feet. This was undoubtedly, the largest, most expensive housing estate in the city. Those who were capable of staying in this plot of land had to be rich. Xia Yanxi failed to fathom how an assistant CEO could procure himself a house in this area.

His house was but an apartment. A three-room and two-living-room type. Like him, the apartment's design was simple yet elegant.

After entering the apartment, Qiao Yanli left her to herself as he took off to his study room.

Xia Yanxi tried to make herself comfortable on the sofa but her mind was still in shambles.

She wanted to go to the Office of Civil Affairs to register their marriage. A move that was so drastic and rash, highlighting her desperation as she was out of options.

Giving up on that thought, she found the remote and switched on the television, absent-mindedly switching to a random channel.

"... last night a couple that was caught engaged in intimate activities has been identified by our reporters. The male, Bai Wenxuan is the young master of the Bai company and the female is Huo Shiyu, a young girl who has just begun her journey in the entertainment media circle! According to recent news, it has been confirmed that the two are to be married at the end of next month. The wedding ceremony…"

Click.

Silence crept back and Xia Yanxi clenched her fist tightly. Tears started forming from the corner of her eyes.

So fast…

They had sex last night, and today news of their wedding was announced…

Bai Wenxuan, a man she adored so much, had managed to forget about her and got engaged to her own sister!

How could she have been so blind? How could she have loved such a scum!

Her hands reached upward to her eyes, trying to find any sense of warmth in this cruel, cold world. Her tears seeped out from the gaps of her frail fingers.

"Once we are married, I hope that you will never shed a tear for any other man," a deep, husky voice rang like a bell from behind her. Frantic, she turned around, eyes still swollen and red, like an injured bunny.

Qiao Yanli reached into his pocket and took out a neatly folded handkerchief. As he handed it to her, he said, "if you can't do that, we need not go to the office tomorrow."

Xia Yanxi took the piece of duvet-like cloth and wiped away the remaining tears of sorrow. With a newfound, unusual courage, she said, "I can do that."

Bai Wenxuan did not deserve her attention. Even though she could not deny that forgetting him would be an effort, she was going to try.

Qiao Yanli narrowed his eyes, appearing satisfied with the answer she gave. With his hands tucked into his slacks. His pair of onyx-like eyes stared down at her, saying, "Once you've calmed down, please put some ice from the kitchen on your eyes. I do not wish to see Mrs. Qiao with puffy red eyes in the wedding photos."

'Excuse me? Mrs Qiao?'

She was still Miss Xia and he was still a regular Mr. Qiao. The two had not yet gotten married and he was already buying into the notion of calling her Mrs. Qiao! What a man! How shameless!

"Take a bath. Rest early," he said, then turning away and disappearing for a brief moment before coming back with a set of male pajamas. After placing it beside her, he retreated back to his studies. Xia Yanxi puckered her lips, disgruntled, after she heard the confirmational sound of the door closing.

She took a bath and put on the sleeping attire Qiao Yanli had given to her. It was too large and long for her to walk properly in it.

She went out to the balcony, looking for a place to dry her own clothes. However, there was only a drying rack that showed no signs of laundry that had been done.

Did the man ever do laundry?
