Air Magic

By the time the sun had risen in the sky and the stars hid under their light blue blanket. Sionna was able to manipulate the air around her to make the wind stronger and calmer. She was even able to enclosed herself in a bubble for a brief amount of time. Yet her whole body was tired. Her head began to ache and her muscles felt as though she has run a thousand miles.

As time wore on the sun brunt her skin turning her face almost as red as her hair. Yaatra let her have water but nothing else and she began to struggle to manipulate the air. Even when it was something she had previously done really well.

Her bones and muscles screamed at her to go to bed but under Yaatra's command she continued to focus her energy on the air around her.

"Enough." Said Caith's unmistakable voice. It sounded like he was shouting through water. The air around her was thick and heavy, but when she released it it dissipated leaving the only thin mountain air.

She looked at him her hands and face burnt and her stance weak.

"Caith you mustn't interrupt." Yaatra said his voice gently shaking the ground below them.

"Look at her, she's about ready to pass out. I am not having you do the same thing to her as you did to me." He replied his blue eyes shinning in the sunlight.

"She doesn't have much time. She needs to learn things quickly."

"She's not going to learn anything when she's this weak. You have been drilling her for a whole day and night. Look at the sun it's already close to the western mountain peaks."

Sionna stood on shaky legs unsure what todo. Her eyelids became heavy as she felt her body trying to heal her skin. She looked down at her hands that were red and angry. She gently felt the blisters forming on the top of her hands. For the first time in her life she was struggling to heal herself. Her dry lips scratched themselves as she tried to open her mouth. She could still hear the giants arguing as she searched the area for water.

She saw the canteen and stepped a shaking step toward it.

"She's too powerful to not have control she's dangerous." She heard Yaatra yell.

"She's-" Caith started to counter and her legs gave out from under her and everything went black.

"Ciall was in love with that little water elf? Surprising and hilarious." The Keeper chuckled to herself.

"I must admit I didn't see that coming." She spoke softly between sips from a large golden goblet decorated with jewels.

"If I may," squeaked the small man bowing at her feet.

"You may." She replied staring down at the little man.

"The woman, Idris, she is engulfed in dark magic to a concerning amount."

"Oh is she? Did she scare my little mouse?" The Keeper laughed.

"Yes she doesn't really seem to be sane."

"Awh it happens to a lot of magic mortals, they get consumed by power. Don't worry it will just make her more useful when we go up against the Wolf." She replied lazily waving her hand in the air dismissing it.

"Just turn into a mouse and keep an eye on the both for the day. Then report back." At her words the man trembling at her feet was turned into a small field mouse who scurried away. The Keeper smiled and added Idris's name to the list of people she has chosen to go after the wolf.

Sionna awoke in the tent. She examined her face and hands which were now healed. She looked around and saw that she was all alone. Carefully she sat up in bed her mind racing over the past few days. Yaatra was not who she expected at all. His words echoed in her brain. "She's too powerful not to have control. She's dangerous."
