How does meditation even work? Sitting here cross legged and chanting om isn't getting me a skill. Maybe since it's related to mana I need to absorb mana, but that's easier said than done. I still haven't figured out how my body naturally absorbs mana or how my mana sensing works. Mana sense seems to be a passive skill so I can't just activate it with a mental command like appraisal. How does it work in anime? It's not like I've got plot armor to drop everything in my lap.(A/N: He definitely does, that fly kill was way too lucky.) In the anime it's easy they just sit there and empty their mind like the mind isn't constantly thinking of thousands of conscious and subconscious ideas every second. This is getting nowhere. *Deep Breath In* *Deep Breath Out* Repeating this process for a few minutes while lying on his back, Matt finally looks like he's getting the rest he earlier told his Mom and friend when they left the room. If anybody with a strong mana sense ability were to enter the room though, they would notice abnormal movements from the ambient mana. The room would look like a whirlpool was forming centered on his body. Currently quite gentle but possibly in the future gaining enough strength to actually affect his surroundings. Perhaps he does have a bit of magical talent. *Ding* Meditation acquired, not that Matt would notice in his current state. As his first meditation, he lacks a bit of control. So currently he is in a bit of a magically induced coma. Right now he is completely focused on controlling the large amounts of mana entering his body. For someone who had only 10 MP just a few minutes ago, with his current meditation and the mission completion he has quickly jumped over 150 MP and rising. All of this has taken place over the period of 2 hours but to him it felt like seconds. As he is meditating, his Mom returned with his laptop. She goes to the door to find it locked and asks a nurse to unlock it so she can enter. Upon entering the nurse checks his condition to find his sleep looking a bit unnatural.
Meanwhile, inside of Matt's body is utter chaos. The mana is rampaging throughout his body aimlessly. For some reason it just won't come under his control. He can see his HP was slowly falling when he first started meditating but as his MP started growing out of control, he saw his HP falling at a continuously higher pace. Panicking a little he tried to figure out the problem by observing his mana and the mana from outside. His mana seemed more docile and didn't injure him, it was a light blue nearly transparent color. The foreign mana was seemed chaotic and damaged him as it carved a path through his body. The foreign mana seemed a little bit darker, it was actually covered in dark spots. That must be some kind of impurities from the outside, Matt thinks to himself. He finds that he can control his mana inside his body to a small degree. The only thing he can think of is trying to expel the foreign mana before it kills him. He bashes his own mana against the foreign mana and it responds violently, like a cornered beast. Some of the foreign mana is taken into his own and slowly purified, almost unnoticeable but with Matt's current focus he sees this process. I have to purify the foreign mana with my own to assimilate it to my own pool of mana. As he gets most of the mana under control and manages to stop his rapid absorption of mana, he suddenly gets a bad feeling as his focus is ripped out of his inner world.
The nurse gently shakes Matt, trying to wake him up. She is unsuccessful at first so she tries harder and greatly shakes his body until his eyes shoot open. A burst of wind is felt in the room and Matt coughs out a mouthful of blood from the rampant mana escaping his body violently. The nurse is shocked at the sudden sight of blood that she believes she caused and quickly calls for a doctor.
"Are you okay? I'm so sorry, I must have aggravated your wounds. I am still an intern , please don't die. I didn't know that shaking you would cause such a reaction, I'm still on my first week."-The nurse says while tears come to her eyes, thinking she will be fired.
"It's okay, don't worry I'm fine. I was just exercising earlier and laid down because I wasn't feeling well. As long as I take it easy I should be fine in a couple hours."-Matt comforts the panicking young nurse.
"Are you sure you're okay Matt? We could sue the hospital for malpractice, you know?"-Mrs. Simmons says in a joking tone
"You must be in a good mood to make a joke like that Mom."-Matt says with a smile while wiping the blood from his mouth.
"That's because I think you are the only idiot who would actually start exercising in the hospital the day after dying in a car accident."-Mrs. Simmons
"What? I thought I was feeling better so I decided to have a bit of fun. Sitting in a bed for so long gets really dull."-Matt says while rubbing the back of his head and looking away.
The doctor arrives and gives Matt a full physical examination before finding nothing major.
"It seems that your muscles are a bit overworked but other than that, you are fine. I can't see why you would spit blood like that. The only explanation I can give is that you may have had a small ulcer from the workout that allowed blood to enter your stomach and when the nurse jostled you, your body reacted by expelling it through your esophagus and mouth."-Doctor(A/N: I BS'd that. I am not medically inclined.)
"Thanks Doc, can I still leave tomorrow morning then?"-Matt
"You could leave today with how your health appears but I want to make certain the blood just now was a fluke and not possibly a symptom of something more serious. When you leave tomorrow, make sure not to stress your body again for at least 2 weeks."-The Doctor advises Matt in a serious tone.
"Ah, my laptop. Thanks for bringing it Mom."-Matt says while grabbing his laptop and powering it on.
