Level 2

Matt has no trouble locating the spirit as long as it remains in the hospital. Coincidentally, the spirit seems very reluctant to leave its hunting grounds. Matt only has the pressure of preventing it from harming others. Matt already has a few ideas to corner the spirit, but he is unsure if his system will cooperate with him on this. His first plan relies on his system, if it fails then he will have no choice but to use a decoy to distract the spirit.

If I slowly walk through the hallways like this for long enough while keeping track of the spirit...

I feel like my movements are getting quieter and I can actually move faster than I could when I started a few minutes ago. I hope this plan works, I'd hate to use some innocent civilian as live bait for this thing.

*Ding* Stealth Acquired

"Perfect"-Matt

I don't know if this will work on the spirit though, I should spend more time to increase the level because it may raise its guard if I fail. Maybe I'm giving it too much credit though since it hasn't left the hospital yet.

After nearly an hour, Matt finally hears the notification of his stealth leveling up. Since he was tracking the spirit the whole time using his danger sense, it received a level as well. Even an unexpected boon for Matt is his Cat's Eye reached level 5 and became Night Vision. Now that his stealth is level 2 and his danger sense has reached level 3, Matt is confident that he can surprise the spirit and eliminate it before it can escape again. Waiting for the spirit to leave it's current hiding spot, Matt hides nearby undetected. If Matt were to carelessly attack it currently, there is a higher chance that a patient would be injured in the crossfire. Finally the spirit leaves the room where it was having a small 'snack' and drifts into the hallway, sated from its meal and recovered from its previous wounds. Matt gets ready to attack, but then a nurse walks though the hallway. It seems she is doing a nightly patrol to check on the patients. As she walks though the spirit, she shivers for a moment before continuing on her way.

It seems that normal humans can't detect things like this. It must be the magic remodeling my body that allows me to see the spirit. I do have that magic body ability after all. The nurse should be far enough away at this point that the fight shouldn't attract her attention. I can make my own skills, I already know from that mission I completed earlier and my growing ability list. I need to keep this quiet and lightning definitely has an audible sound. If the patients weren't nearly comatose in the area we fought earlier, they probably would have heard it.

Matt thinks about how to mold his magic in the best way for his current task while releasing mana in a similar way to his lightning bullet. As he is in deep thought he removes the element from his spell and observes it. The mana in his hand slowly goes from the pale blue of pure mana to a darker color. The bullet in his hand reaches a pitch black color like his surroundings, confusing Matt.

"Why is my mana bullet black system?"-Matt

"It has absorbed the element in your surrounding with the most presence. In this case you have modified your lightning bullet into a mana bullet and then allowed it to be converted into a shadow bullet."-System

That explains why it's dark, is there anything else I can do with it though? I've already figured out how to create this shadow bullet and even how to reabsorb the mana. Can I modify its shape? Can I make it stronger to take down this spirit with the least difficulty? When thinking of stronger spells in games you normally add mana and increase the size of the spell, but I think the spirit might be able to detect such a large amount of mana. What if I were to increase the speed of the projectile and it's penetrating power without using so much mana and making the spell larger?

With Matt's thoughts wandering, he realizes his prey is going to get away if he doesn't make a move soon. Without much thought he creates a primitive system for shooting his mana faster than it would have gone on its own. He makes a bow and then an arrow out of his new shadow mana. He places the arrow on his bow and draws back the string while slowly taking his aim at the spirit. He takes a deep breath in to focus his shot, then releases his breath with the arrow. While he aimed for the center of the spirit, he actually managed to hit the head of the figure. The figure fades away before Matt's eyes. Keeping an eye out for any trap, Matt hears a few notifications from his system.
