"The update will take approximately 6 hours, it is recommended the host either rests til dawn or trains."-System

Matt doesn't feel physically tired after such an intense night, but the tension of his battle and the planning that went into it has left him mentally exhausted. Deciding to rest for now, Matt is able to quickly fall asleep and enter the land of dreams.

Matt slowly opens his eyes and sees his mother waiting by his bed for him to wake up. She looks very excited, likely because today is the day Matt can leave the hospital.

"Good Morning, Mom."-Matt

"Good Morning, I've got a big surprise for you."-Mrs. Simmons says enthusiastically

"What's the surprise so early in the morning?"-Matt asks with confusion

"Your father got off work to visit today."-Mrs. Simmons

"I thought he was de..."-Matt says as his head begins to feel like knives are scraping though it.

"Impressive kid."-A voice says from all around Matt

"Who are you? And what did you do to my mother?"-Matt says angrily while panting and holding his head.

"Don't worry about it, she's probably still sleeping at her home. This is just a dream."-The voice says with a hint of laughter

"Why are you doing this? You still haven't answered my first question."-Matt says while regaining a bit of his calm

"You are quite calm considering your current power is far weaker than my own all those eons ago when I began developing my ego."-Mysterious Voice

"Can you show yourself then? It's hard to talk to the air like this."-Matt says sarcastically to cover his nerves

"Will this form do? I don't usually look 'human' so I am unsure if this form suits me. I have gone by many names over time. Such an interesting concept you humans made. As if time had no meaning before you called it as such. I have been called Abyss by some, Void by others and there were even some who have mistaken me for Tartarus. Do I look like some fool trapped in an eternal prison? But those names are unimportant, I've already informed you of what you should call me in the beginning of this dream."- 'Void' said to Matt with a smirk

"What do you...father? No, my Mom is just a normal human woman. She would never get involved with something like you."-Matt says with doubt

"Hey, I can be pretty charming when I want to be. When you live so long, you need attachments like this to keep the will to live. Even what you would call Gods are just mortals with a slightly longer lifespan in my eyes. Beings like me cannot be killed but we can cease to exist if we no longer wish it. Void is the birth of everything, without it everything would just cease to be. At the mere 'snap of a finger' I could easily erase universes in their entirety. Creating attachments like you is the only thing that stops me."-Void

"How did you get so powerful though?"-Matt

"Unlike mortals, I have always existed in this state. There was no before. There was just me, slowly developing an ego and realizing existence is meaningless in such emptiness. I am that emptiness, but I created others to ease my solitude and they expanded on creation. Everything comes from nothing and will one day return to nothing. I must say I am impressed that your will could hold up in my presence though. Most mortals would have their heads explode instantly, very messy I might add. My very existence is infinite and even trying to comprehend it would drive even your Gods insane. You might've inherited more of me than most of my kids in the past."-Void

"You are pretty talkative for an all powerful God. Are all Gods like this?"-Matt

"I may be all powerful but God I am not. I am an entity embodying a universal force. As long as this universe survives, so do I. Even if you were to destroy this current body that is housing my will. It would just scatter my will for a fraction of a second. Not that there are many beings with the power to scatter this weak frame."-Void

"Is that why I can't die? Do I embody that power too?"-Matt

"Pfft, humans certainly are funny. Do you think I would talk to myself? There is only one ego for this force, myself. I blocked death for you since it seemed interesting. I happened to be awake at the time and figured I'd check on the universe before taking another few decades for a nap. Since I have a descendant again, would you like a gift from your dear Papa?"-Void says holding back laughter

Matt quickly thinks while looking at the mischievous entity in front of him.

"Sure, what is the gift?"-Matt says with a bit of hesitation

"I see you have a glimpse into the realm of shadows, here ya go. If you survive long enough for me to wake up again, maybe you'll get another gift."-Void says before leaving

Matt watches the entity disappear, wondering where the gift is. Matt feels like he is close to waking up before he feels a strong reaction from his danger sense. The ability is going off to the point where it is nearly crippling him with signals from all directions. Suddenly, Matt is swallowed into a pitch black opening with no ability to resist. His body feels like it is being pulled in all directions. If it wasn't so mind numbingly painful, he would be able to feel the pure elemental power of this black hole he was sucked into. After what feels like an eternity to Matt, he has adjusted to the pain and begins to feel something similar to his shadow mana. He feels his body getting in tune with this new energy. This new energy is far stronger than shadow. A shadow is the result of light being blocked, this darkness is engulfing everything including the light. This is no simple shadow, this is pure darkness. Maybe just a trivial thing to his father who embodies an empty void likely full of this darkness, its concept surpasses anything humans are capable of comprehending. Matt spends an indefinite time in this black hole, studying it and growing stronger.
