The next morning, Callum saw an aura that was considerably stronger than any he'd seen in a regular human. It was like a red cloud of lightning. While it wasn't even close to Stardust sized, it was still very large. Following the aura, he recognized the face of the person who it belonged to.
"Sarah!" He called out.
She turned. "Oh, hello, Callum" She said. "I'm sorry about your brother."
"Me too." He replied, his anger spiking. "I swear I'm going to find the bastards who murdered my brother."
"Woah. Cool it, Callum." She said worriedly. "Revenge doesn't help anyone."
"I still want them gone." He said, his anger abruptly abating."
"This is Stardust, I take it?" She asked, quickly changing the subject.
Stardust examined her closely.
"Yes." He replied. There wasn't much he could say, unless he was going to be sarcastic.
"He's beautiful." She said, tentatively reaching out to pet him. Stardust avoided her hand and padded behind Callum.
"He's kind of on edge because a certain little s**t kept harassing him." Callum said, wanting to explain why he wasn't accepting her petting.
"Oh, Shawn?" She asked. "The delinquent of the area? He tried to rape me once."
"Are you okay?" Callum immediately asked, concerned for his friend's safety.
"Well, he's dead, so yeah." She responded.
"How did he die?" Callum asked, feigning surprise.
"His knife shattered and slit his carotid arteries." She said. "Police are confused as to what could cause a knife to do that, but since there was no evidence of anyone else being there, they had no way of finding out."
She checked her watch. "I have to run to work now." She said, hurrying away.
"Bye." He said, continuing on his way to work.
Glancing at Stardust, he asked his burning question. "Did she have lightning power?" He asked.
Stardust nodded his head.
"Thought so." He said. "I wonder what would happen if I gave her an orb."
He thought about it. "Could she even absorb it?" He wondered. "Well, if I gave her one, we'd find out, wouldn't we?"
....
After work, Callum went to his house and picked up a green orb. 'Shouldn't I just call them souls?' He wondered. 'Because that's probably what they are.'
Shrugging, he went to Sarah's workplace and waited for her shift to end. Callum waited for almost an hour because he worked until 20:00 and she worked until 21:00.
When she walked out of the building, Callum walked over to her.
"Hope this helps with your powers." He said, handing over a green soul.
Walking away, he left a shocked Sarah staring at him as he left.
