Chapter 10-Another Reaper

Jaques coldly glared at his henchmen.

"I thought I told you to collect the souls too?" He asked.

"I was going to, but the authorities found my tail too quickly." He replied. "I had intended to loop back and collect from the graveyard, but by the time I shook their special forces and got back to their corpses, the souls were gone."

"So you mean to tell me that there's someone out there with your EXACT SAME POWER?" Jaques's voice rose in both volume and pitch.

"It's a possibility." He replied.

"You're useless." He exclaimed. "You're lucky I don't feed you to the leviathan."

"You wouldn't do that anyway." He replied mildly. "You need me for the collection of souls."

"Why are you always able to f**k things up?" He demanded.

"Karma's a b**ch."

"Just go." Jaques sighed. "I have work to do."

After he left, Jaques sighed again.

"Why does there need to be so many complications?" He complained, placing his head in his hands. "It's so stressful!"

Someone knocked on the door and entered before he could say 'come in.'

"Spare me your empty formalities." She said.

"Alice." He sighed. "I-"

"Yes I'm aware you need a clairvoyant." She said.

"Fine, I'll let you speak." She sighed. "Just seems pointless when I can see exactly what you're going to say."

"Yes, but it makes me uncomfortable." he said.

She looked at him. "You think I don't know that?" She asked. "Don't apologize and get my payment for your missing soul problem."

He scowled in annoyance. Picking up his phone, bhe had his assistant get her payment ready.

She had him tie her down to her chair so she didn't hurt herself.

"Clairvoyance is troublesome, yet helpful." He said, wanting to fill the awkward silence.

She looked at him. "Just shut up." She said.

Finishing tying her down, he stepped back.

As soon as he did, she began to convulse. Her pupils contracted to pinpricks, her arms siezed and her legs kicked at their bonds.

She siezed for about five minutes, during which the payment silently arrived.

She finally inhaled and came back. "T-t-t-he n-new R-reaper... Y-you'll l-l-lose t-to h-him." Her teeth chattered in fear. "N-no m-matter w-what p-path i-i-is t-taken, y-you'll die."

She began straining against her bonds. "ALL OF YOU WILL DIE!" She screamed. "YOUR ONLY HOPE TO SAVE YOUR LIVES IS TO FIND AND SIDE WITH HIM!"

Jaques removed her bonds. She darted over to the box that held a mind crystal, removed the crystal and fled.

Jaques whatched her go, his heart sinking. "I don't believe that one man can take out our whole organization." His assistant said.

"Yes, but has she ever been wrong?"
