PvP

I stood before the three players, each of them level 10. They all stared at me with malicious intent, ready to attack me at any second.

"Hey, guys, don't you think we can talk this out? I mean, we're all here to enjoy the game, aren't we? Let's just let bygones be bygones. You leave me alone, and I leave you alone, sound good?" I said, taking my hands off of my holstered blades. The group stared at each other blankly.

"Oi, Boss, this lad thinks he can bargain wit' us, ain't dat hilarious?" one of the players said, nudging the player in the middle with his elbow. The middle player pushed him off, and brushed off his side.

The middle player, whom I assumed was their leader, sighed, and said to me, "Look, if you don't wanna empty your pockets, that's fine. We ain't gonna force you to take the easy way out… but we will force you to take the hard way out!" the boss of the players ran towards me with a long blade in their hand. I quickly withdrew my daggers from their sheaths and parried his lung at my stomach, and pushed myself away from him.

I knew this wouldn't be an easy fight, especially since it was three on one, and god knows how much more powerful they could've possibly been compared to me. I had to be careful, very careful. Even more so, since I'd get combat tagged if I were to kill them, even if it was in self defence. The law system in Live Universe was insanely complicated, and I'd rather not be in trouble with the law so early in the game. Nonetheless, I readied my weapons, and stared at the three players.

The boss of the group got back up, and grunted from the fall he had just taken. "Tch, you're pretty good, mate. But I promise you, you won't survive this encounter! Great Slash!" the player yelled at the top of his lungs, his blade glowing like a lightbulb, it came crashing down onto my shoulder. Agh! That hurt like hell! My shoulder felt like it had just shattered into a million pieces. It was now that I realized that I'm in much more danger than I thought I was. Even so, I still had a duty to protect this merchant.

I knew I had to go all out, so in one fell swoop, I used "Lucky Kick!" and hit the boss straight in the head… but nothing happened. I quickly gleamed over to the right of me, and saw an error appear on my screen,

[ERROR] This skill may only be used on NPCs and Mobs. any attempt to use this on a player will be nullified!

Crap! I never realized these skills couldn't be used on players! I was about to abort my attack, but just as I was about to, the player grabbed my leg and threw me to the side, onto a nearby rock.

Caack! I spewed blood from my mouth and rolled onto the dirt road. I slowly got up, only to face the other two players. I knew now that I was fighting a losing battle. Yet, for some reason, I couldn't bring it upon myself to accept my fate. I grabbed my dagger with my unharmed arm, and stabbed it into the leg of the player in front of me, and slit downward, opening up a wound.

The player kicked me to the side. "Crazy bastard! Trying to fight back when he's already lost, he's pathetic," the player said, staring down at me. At this point, my health had reached an all time low, I only had 12 HP left.

"Crap… I really am gonna get PKed, huh. Man, this sucks." I said under my breath." then, a notification appeared right in front of me.

[NOTICE] Skills "???? ???? ?????" has been activated. Activating Lucky Mode.

"Huh? What does that even mean?" I said to myself.

Then, all of a sudden, I felt my body tingle all over, and my health go up to full. I could feel my bones move and glue themselves back together, forming complete structures once again. My skin was covered in a golden light, and my body was tattooed with strange symbols. Four leaf clovers, 3 sevens, rabbit's feet, etc. I felt almost invincible, and like I could easily take on any NPC or Player at least double my level.

"H-Hey, what's up with this guy? He's covered in some kinda weird light… uh, guys, I kinda got a bad feeling about this." one of them piped up, looking over to me.

The boss responded, "Don't worry about it, he's probably using some sort of illusion trick or something, get him!" I pulled out my daggers once again and threw them into two of the player's chests, pulling them towards me, rapidly kicking their faces in over and over, until they were unconscious.

Then came the leader of the group. He stared at me in awe, completely stunned by the display of power. The leader soon came to his senses, and began to run. I decided he could just leave, he was being smart by fleeing, unlike me, who almost lost a lot of progress due to being stubborn.

Soon, my body stopped glowing, and I returned to normal. Checking my skill screen, I saw something interesting. The skill "???? ???? ?????" had been replaced with "Lucky Mode" and from the looks of it, the cooldown was over one IRL month. To be fair though, it was quite the powerful ability, so it only made sense that the cooldown would be insane.

After looking over my new ability, I picked up the two unconscious bodies (I assumed they may have had bounties on their heads) and put them into the merchant's wagon. I set the two players unconscious bodies down, and told the merchant to get back on the road. After a few hours of travelling, we had finally made it back to Tergaron. It had been a long day, and I wanted to get it over with quickly. I said my goodbyes and made my way with the bodies to the Rogue's Association.

When I got there, I walked up to the receptionist, and looked him dead in the eye.

"Anything I can… do for you?" he asked, in his usual carefree tone. I placed the unconscious bodies and task paper onto the table.

"I'd like to check if these two have any bounty, and turn in this task, please." I said, politely. I was still strained from my battle earlier, so I was more than ready to log off for the day.

"Yeah, I can do that, just let me go get the record book…" the receptionist said sorrowfully. He went back into the staff rooms, in search for the record book. After a few minutes, he came back with a large book. "Alright, let's see here… what are their names?" he asked quietly.

"Oh they're uhm…" I paused for a moment to look at their nametags, "Penanggalan and GaurVimen." I said, waiting for the receptionist to finish his searching.

"Ah, it looks like they're worth 350 Tyles, and 25 Tergaron REP each. You can put them over there into those cells, and we'll get them processed. Any questions…?" the receptionist continued.

"No, not at all." I stated, dragging their unconscious bodies into the cell. After that was done, I turned in the task, and grabbed my bounty rewards and the rewards from the task. Overall, it was a pretty good haul, even if the fight had almost killed me. I'd say that 950 Tyles, 100 Rogues Association REP, 200 Tergaron REP, 50 Floria REP, and 200 EXP was well worth it, despite all my troubles.

After completing everything I needed to, I logged off for the day, and went to sleep, soundly and peacefully.
