Caravan Quest

When I had finally arrived at my quest marker, there was a stout, bearded man sitting on top of a merchant wagon, filled with barrels and crates of different materials. I walked over to the man, and shook his hand.

"Oh, you must be the person who the Rogue's Association sent! It's a pleasure to meet you. You'll be protecting me on this journey, won't you? My life is in your hands," the man said heartily.

"Yeah, that's me! I'm happy to be working with you today. You're heading to Floria, right? It shouldn't be a long trip, and I can assure you that you'll be safe with me." I responded politely, hopping onto the wagon. "Is everything ready?" I shouted.

"Yup! Everything's all set up! Just pull up the back of the wagon and we'll be well on our way," the stout man said, getting into the front of the wagon and whipping the horses, telling them to go. I pulled up the back of the carriage, and sat in it patiently, looking around for any possible dangers, and I saw nothing that could pose a threat… yet. We traveled the horse-beaten path in which many had traveled before. The breeze of the wind and the falling of the leaves signaled that fall was soon approaching, and that meant that many quests, mobs, and services would change.

In Live Universe, the season of the current area played a large part in the content available. Quests may go from monster extermination oriented tasks to wood gathering and food collection tasks, and certain NPCs and their shops may open and close depending on the season. Some shops may even sell different materials and other commodities. I would have to keep in mind that fall would probably be in full swing by the time I'd get back to Tergaron.

After a few hours of travelling, Floria just barely came into sight. I looked at the town from a distance, excited to get the quest over with and return back to Tergaron to reap my rewards. As we began to approach Floria, I noticed something green out of the corner of my eye. It took a second to register, before I finally realized what I was looking at. It was a goblin horde! I quickly jumped off the wagon and drew out my daggers, taking a combat stance.

Surrounding me were 7 goblins, each armed with shivs and spears, pointed directly at the wagon and I. I acted quickly, throwing my daggers outwards and into the goblins midsections, bisecting them. I pulled the nasty green colored buggers toward me and kicked the two of them in the head, sending them flying through the air, and killing them.

5 more to go. I decided to finish the rest of the fight quickly, since I didn't really feel like wasting time being all theatrical. I ran over to the goblins, and stabbed each of them a couple of times with my daggers, making quick work of the remaining 5. All of the goblins fizzled out of existence, and the merchant and I continued on our way back to Floria.

After an hour and a half of travelling, we finally reached the gates of Floria. By now, it was nearly night time, so we had to unload quickly. The merchant and I rode up to one of the few loading docks near the south entrance of Floria, and unloaded the cargo. The merchant said that it'd be too dangerous for us to return at night, so we decided to go in the morning.

I went to sleep in an inn, and got off for the day. I ate dinner, lounged around watching MiiTube for an hour or so, and headed to bed. When I woke up, I got ready to go to work once again.

After a normal day at work, I headed back home and logged back onto Live Universe. Ah, my favorite part of the day had come. When I got back into the game, I was at the front of the Inn bed I had slept in.

I picked up all my belongings, and headed out of the Inn. I met up with the merchant I was protecting, and we headed off back to Tergaron. Now that we had dropped off the cargo, we had gone on our way.

The road back to Tergaron was quite peaceful, and for the most part our trip was uneventful, at least until *this* happened. While riding back "home" I saw a few humanoids figures up a way at the road. At first glance, I assumed they were bandits of some kind, but as we got closer, I realised it was much, much worse.

The people in front of us were players, and not very friendly looking ones at that.

"Is there anything I can help you with?" I said calmly, approaching the group of players.

"Oh… us? Hehehe, we don't need nothin' but it'd be real nice if you would just… give up your life?" one of the players said, with an accomplished look on his face.

"Excuse me? What did you just say?" I said, as I slowly withdrew my daggers.
