Long Time Coming

After I had gotten ready for my trip, I left for the southern gate, where the carriage was waiting. I walked up to it, and knocked on the masterfully articulated door.

"Who's there?" A young, high pitched voice asked.

"I'm here from the Rogues Association, I've been hired to escort you from here to Durnatel." I responded asininely.

"Oh? So you're the one who's going to be attending to me? Hmph, you seem fine enough. Well then, let's get going." The young girl said politely. She waved me off, and closed the door, before the carriage started to move. I was to follow the carriage quickly behind, as per my tasks' request.

It was tiring. Simply tiring. I walked next to the noble's carriage for hours on end, looking out for any possible malicious persons, yet I saw no one. Nothing, nothing, and more nothing. The hell kind of quest is given to someone where they have to just walk? This had to have been the worst and most tedious gameplay I had ever had the disgrace of playing.

This tedious gameplay went on for what felt like days. After almost 2 in game days, we had finally arrived at the town of Durnatel. The town was ornately decorated, with marble gates and ornate concrete walkways. It was like I was walking into heaven itself, it was one of the most majestic and beautiful towns I had ever had the grace of lying my eyes upon. I now realized why the gameplay for this quest was so… disgustingly bad. It was a test of endurance, all for this. I felt as though this was the real reward for completing the quest, and I was happy with the time I had spent.

"Thank you for accompanying me, rogue, though I felt you were of little assistance," The snarky noble girl remarked, "well no matter, it seems you have completed your quest yet, and I require your services once again."

I sighed at the sight. Was this quest really not over? Granted, I was getting a much better, and much more informed reward than before, and certainly this half of the quest couldn't be as bad as the previous part, right? That's what I hoped for anyway.

"Alright then, let's get going to the residency, shall we?" I asked rhetorically, extending my hand to the young girl, to lead her onwards safely towards the noble household. However, I quickly noticed that this wouldn't be such an easy task. The townspeople began running inside their houses, and closing windows, as a light breeze and dark clouds rolled in. How cliche, I already knew how this was going to end, and I quickly withdrew my Blood-Strewn Chain Daggers off of my back sheaths, gripping the blades tightly in my hands. I could hear footsteps coming from behind me, and they became louder and louder as the seconds passed by.

"Aye, pardner', who said you could bring that lil' lass around here? This here be our land, you know," a stereotypical sounding ruffian said. I slowly turned around, to be faced with a group of… bandits? Cowboys? Highway crooks? I wasn't really sure what to call them, though I guess they were akin to some kind of banditos. What was this cliche quest? I feel like it came straight out of a western movie.

"Hey, listen man… I don't really want any trouble, but I gotta get this girl here to her father, so if you could just… you know… let us go? I think that'd be the best for both of our parties, don't want anyone to get hurt, you feel?" I pleaded with the banditos, but it seemed like they weren't up to listening.

"Har har har! Listen to this guy, 'oh please oh mighty Banditos please spare me oh my!', look pal, we ain't gon just let you slide outta here wit that noble girlie of yours. Look, if ya wanna escape wit yerr life, I suggest you hand over the girlie and leave without question, ya hear?" The head Bandito said, staring me down like a lion stares down at his prey. Obviously, I couldn't just let him have my quest objective, so I merely shook my head, and ran towards him, hoping the butler could watch over the young girl.

By the looks of it, there were 5 Banditos total, each of them looked to have about 250 health each. I charged head first at one of the Banditos, throwing one of my chain daggers into his chest, pulling him forward, and used [SLASH LV1] on them

[BANDITO 1 TOOK 50 DMG!]

The Bandito quickly reacted by pulling out a dagger and slashed me across the shoulder, causing a large gash to appear where he slashed. I held back tears of pain. Despite playing this game for over a couple of weeks now, I could never get used to the artificial pain that one felt inside the game.

[-15 HP!]

By God that did quite a good bit of damage! Of course, it wasn't anything to fret about right now, but it still hurt like all hell. I pulled out my other dagger, and attacked him twice with my Blood Daggers, slicing downwards onto his chest.

[BANDITO 1 TOOK 35 DAMAGE!]

Tch, I was certainly in a bad position if it was going to take this long to kill a single Bandito, but there wasn't much more I could do to improve my damage. All I could do is hope for some good RNG.

As I was monologuing, Bandito 1 charged at me once again with his dagger, however, I was able to narrowly dodge it, the blade grazing my torn cloak. I wiped the sweat off my brow, and counter attacked.

[BANDITO 1 TOOK 40 DAMAGE!]

Now we were talking, I could start to see his health drain quite a bit, and by the looks of it, his HP was already almost halfway through. Maybe this fight wouldn't take so long after all. It was at this point that I started to wonder why the other Banditos weren't stepping in, until I heard a light chuckle from across the street.

"Har har har! Well lookie what we got here, I got myself an unprotected noble girlie right in me arms!" The Bandito leader chuckled, holding a dagger to the Baron's daughter's neck, holding her by the collar, "if ye want yer girlie back, you'll have to come get 'er!"

It was then that I felt a large amount of force coming onto my back, as I was tackled by the other members of the Bandito group.

"N-no… my rewa- no, this girl… I can't let her be taken away and have God knows what done to her… I can't have something like that on my conscience, even if it is just a game…" I thought to myself, struggling to escape my heavy humanoid bindings. Yet, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't escape.
