Run!
Lin Chao's hair stood straight, his muscles tensed. Not missing a beat, he sprinted bemoaning his fate. It had been less than ten days since the virus outbreak and it was unbelievable how this jumbo croc had grown to the massive size it was now. It defied the general biological understanding. It was worth wondering how many mutated creatures it had eaten to evolve to this stage!
Boom!
The fortified metal fence looked like a cobweb when it was easily pushed open by the jumbo crocodile's soft nudge. It served no purpose as a barricade. Each step that the jumbo croc landed, the lawn quaked lightly while a deep indentation was left on the ground.
Speed Enhancement! – Lin Chao gave up hiding himself using the light and saved all his cell energy to execute the Speed Enhancement.
His speed doubled abruptly, sixteen times of a human, and he looked like a black projection. Crossing several hundred meters was only a matter of a blink of an eye. The scenery around him flew past like the wind; if it were not for his motion-capture vision, Lin Chao would not have been able to maneuver the super speed and would have crashed into a tree.
Swoosh!
He went into the forest and kept running.
Lin Chao dashed for his life, using almost all of his energy. To hasten himself a bit more, he even threw away the steel bar that had accompanied him in his slaughter of many zombies and monsters.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The jumbo crocodile was very fast. Its ginormous size meant that each step it took was over ten meters. Although Lin Chao was using Speed Enhancement, the distance between them was not stretching; it was, instead, rapidly decreasing.
The gap between them finally stopped shortening when they came into the forest, maintaining at approximately a hundred meters.
Bam…
It was a disaster when the jumbo crocodile ran past the trees as they were either snapped into two or fell to the sides, a tremendously wide passage was formed.
Although he did not turn back, Lin Chao was well aware that the distance between him and the jumbo crocodile was momentous. Once he lacked half a beat in his speed, it would instantly have caught up and gobbled him down.
The forest reached its end soon, a plain pasture lay ahead.
Lin Chao looked aghast. He would be quickly caught up in the flatland which was still quite far from the sewer.
'Damn it!'
Lin Chao bit through his lips, the pang stimulating his nerves, and he eventually calmed down.
Swoop!
He made an abrupt right turn after charging out of the forest and bolted toward the prairie on the right.
The jumbo crocodile snarled as it pursued Lin Chao. The soundwave of its roar was as if a gale, breaking thin branches from its force.
Lin Chao became pale, pushing himself to accelerate.
Faster! Faster! Faster!
He shouted inwardly but he was already at his maximum speed, unable to accelerate any more.
A shadow came drifting above him. The sunlight was overshadowed as cool gamy stench wafted into his nose.
Lin Chao's heart sank.
All of a sudden, a group of animals came into his sight. It was a dazzle of mutated zebras. The will to live radiated from Lin Chao's eyes; he sped toward them with a low growl like a catapulting black cannon!
Swoosh!
When Lin Chao bolted to the edge of the zeal, the mutated zebras were immediately terrorized by the mammoth behind him, scrambling everywhere shrieking in fear. Although the mutated beasts experienced a change in behavior and became bloodthirsty, they retained a certain extent of intelligence and instinct; facing the jumbo crocodile, they were instinctively fearful.
The jumbo crocodile was not fazed by the mutated zebras. Its savage olive green eyes zeroed in on Lin Chao, as if catching him was the only thing it wanted in life.
Lin Chao discovered the cruel reality soon enough, his blood ran cold. He had thought that the reptile would give up on him when it was lured into the dazzle of zebras. After all, he was a mere human that could not even fulfill its appetite while the zeal of zebras, whether in size or number, was a feast.
In spite of it, it seemed that the jumbo crocodile had an insanely high vendetta against him that it could forgo its feeding desire.
Lin Chao could only continue sprinting in expersation.
He was lucky that the panicking dazzle contributed a considerable hindrance to the jumbo crocodile; some of the zebras that lost direction in panic ran under its claw while some were squashed by its feet from being too slow, coloring the pasture red.
Lin Chao was lithe as a fish, slipping past the zeal of zebras swiftly.
The gap was not widened. It barely maintained the distance from closing in.
There was no time to pant for Lin Chao as he kept zooming in a straight line and finally came to the border of the herbivore area after some time. Similarly, there was a metal fence separating the two territories; on the other side of the fence was a vast forest that housed a diversity of birds.
Mutated peacocks, mutated golden eagles, mutated black swans, and many others, they were all nationally protected species.
Lin Chao clambered in after leaping over the fence without a second thought.
The few mutated peacocks that wandered near the fence ran toward Lin Chao screaming, their fanned tails like realistic pairs of unnerving eyes staring at him.
Lin Chao was not frightened as he flew past them without pausing a beat, with his super speed that was accelerated by the Speed Enhancement.
When the peacocks intended to chase after him, their fast pursuit was stopped short by the earthquake behind them. As they turned back to look, there was only a gigantic foot in their vision.
Boom!
The mutated peacocks were stampeded to death like they were ants when the jumbo crocodile crawled past.
Coming to the bird section, Lin Chao headed to wherever that had more creatures in hopes that these mutated beasts would stir the jumbo croc's appetite, however, the latter showed no hint of stopping to eat despite him running into a few flocks of birds, resolutely chasing after him.
Lin Chao helplessly raced straight ahead. As long as he could leave the zoo and go into the metropolitan area, the zombies with no sense of fear would be able to restrict the jumbo crocodile and give him time to escape.
Passing the birds, the next section shared a similar ecological environment. It also housed a small stretch of forest, a pool, and a vast field.
Several mutated tigers were laying on the lawn; one of them was as colossal as an elephant, probably having evolved a second time.
Lin Chao whizzed to it instantly.
When the tigers saw him, they climbed up from their lazy sleeping positions right away and bolted toward him fiercely.
A few steps were made before the tigers stopped and looked at the colossus that was running behind Lin Chao. Like mice meeting the cat, they scrambled where they could shudderingly, including the elephant-sized tiger!
Its size was not even the extent of the jumbo crocodile's footprint!
