Ch.10 - My Destiny is Made

It has been three days since I fought against the Golem, and ever since I raised the difficulty of my training. On hunts I would use myself as bait to lure a pack of wolves on a very long run into a ambush set by my hunting party, doing so I am raising my Speed and Agility. After fishing during our free time, I would swim, taking a few laps around the island, increasing my Dexterity and Vitality. Then when we go for bigger hunts such as going after Stoneback Boars, I would take the largest one to haul back to the cave, increasing my Strength and Endurance. Lastly with the help from my mother's skills, I train my focus and reflex base skills such as [Mana Sense] [Mana Flow] which I discovered from my mother telling as of how I could move the Mana within my body, and [Enhanced Agility] while at the same time, I am learning basic magic skills I can use myself, from these I raise my Intelligence and Willpower.

Every bit of the training I took seriously, though it is only the second day of doing them, I am really feeling a significant boost in abilities compared to my skills before the training. I can even tell the clan goblins can sense my power as many of them now would cower or try to offer me things as so in they're words "to not skin them alive," its not bad really as now my mother has a nice warm bed of furs to lay on, though I made sure they were clean ofcourse being how disgusting the male goblins can be. Though I have nicely strengthened my skills, I dont feel strong enough to take on or even spar with the Golem just yet, so I will keep training while looking after my Hunting Party, my mother, and soon to be born little sister, whom I plan to purify of any evil goblin instinct, especially being she is the chieftain's daughter, that bastard uncle of mine is lucky I didnt take his head.

Now it is time to go hunting with my party, with a planning talk with them, I convinced Rukk we should go toward the Twin Spire Ravine. It was the location where Dute, our old ranger friend, had died during a intense ambush by a pack of wolves. But with my strength as is now, I want to delve deeper to see if we can find either any wolf packs or potentially a strong wolf boss. Though Leek was uneasy about it even though I actually helped him get stronger, and Zola was still fearful of the place being how close she and Dute, though I too dont like the idea too much, it would be a good opportunity to possibly kill any of the remaining wolves from that same pack, as well as fully explore a location no hunting party had fully discovered before.

The travel to the location was completely silent except for our footsteps, no one wanted to talk, though Leek obviously had questions, none of us wanted to speak or make a sound so he kept quiet too. Our arrival was a bit nerve-racking, as the sight of the dry rocky terrain made everyone on edge, including me, ever since that day of the deadly ambush and Dute, none of us wished to see any of it again. However, something had caught the attention of my [Mana Sense] which I been practicing to use every second during whatever else I do, using my inherited skill [Eagle Eye] I got from my mother, standing on top of one of the spires I could see a large unusual wolf. Suddenly a powerful gale of wind blasts all around the ravine, even around us as we were at the edge of the rocky terrain, though a slight struggle, we held our ground, though poor Leek had a rock fly into his face knocking him back a bit, I stared at that wolf which I could tell the windy storm is coming from. Looks like I found my target.

Though Rukk thinks we should turn back, I went on saying we were already there and we aren't the same party as when we were here last, we are far stronger now, and turning back would mean we are still afraid of facing our past. That fortunately boosts the courage in my party and as soon as the wind dies down, we walk the path that slopes down into the ravine, we were ready to fight, especially now we are thinking about avenging our fallen friend. The walk was a bit uneventful, though the gale returns every now and then, there was nothing to fight, seems whatever lived here before, had ran of in fear from the gales, though I do see a lizard here and there hiding in cracks along the ravine walls, there was nothing else.

Continuing deeper, we discovered a large open intersection beneath the towering spires, we could even tell it was a area where wolves had lived from all the bones and fur scattered about the place. Looking about the area, we discovered some scattered gear belonging to old hunting parties, it was clear no goblin had came down here and lived to tell the tale, until now as there were not a single wolf in sight. Grabbing bits and pieces each of us could use, such as armor pieces, scattered arrows, even a dagger or two, we made sure the area was completely clear of any threat.

Just as were finishing up and getting ready to leave the area, a powerful blast of wind knocks everyone back against the ravine walls, then I see it, the wolf I saw on the spire, leaping down from above gracefully. As soon as the wind dies away and everyone was free to move, we all prepare ourselves to fight, for as we see it, the wolf is a threat. Though ready to fight, I couldn't help but admire the wolf's beautiful silver ish green coat of fur, then I even notice some gold marking like designs coursing through the fur, most of it looking like wind. Suddenly I am greeted by a blue window which surprised me a bit by what it says.

[Fenrir requests to communicate through telepathy, do you accept? Y/N]

The wolf wants to talk? Is it another World Guardian? Well if it means not fighting against such a power that could easily kill me and my friends, okay.

[Telepathic connection has been made]

"Can you hear me child." A beautifully toned female voice fill my head, it surprised me for a second that I could hear and understand her in my head. Looking to see the wolf looking at me, I gave her a soft nod as a reply, not sure about vocally answering right now. "Good then now I must ask you to lower your weapon, companions too." I blink at that but I slowly do so, taking a neutral position which my party does too as they see me do so. This whole event went from scary to crazy, first witnessing her power in the form of powerful wind, then combing through the normally wolf filled ravine, and now communication with a powerful creature that could easily wipe her and her clan from existence.

"Before we continue, I must know your name." The beautiful voice fills my head once more, deciding to answer, I without a struggle, thought of my name. "Naoi." It too I could hear clear as day in my head, could this be the telepathy connection? It is weird but very interesting. "Well Naoi, I can sense great strength from you and a will to protect, this is why I must forewarn you." She says making me a bit confused but intent on hearing more. "A darkness is sweeping the land, a chaotic power belong to a lord of demons. A being of great power and a unstoppable thirst to take this world for himself. I can sense that you, are one of the beings of the land that is mentally capable of bringing his downfall. You must train hard Naoi, become stronger, and find those who like you can fight back the waves of darkness."

Taking a moment to soak in what she had said so far, she basically giving me a destiny to fulfill. This is great. With a confident smile and a determined look, I nodded to Fenrir, willing to take on the path she is explaining to me. "Good. Before I leave, I must warn you of a danger that will soon arrive. One of the demon lord's commanders is presently in the area. Tread carefully, and dont let his words sway your judgement. Farewell." She says then runs off with great speed, like a gust of wind blowing across the land.

After watching her leave the area, I got to thinking. Just what kind of threat will I be facing here for a Demon Lord Commander, whatever it is, I must protect those I care about. With a brief talk to Rukk, explaining what happened, he ordered us to make way back to our clan. Yet again the travel was silent, mainly for me as I was deep in thought, I cant help but think of what could possibly be among us with such dangerous power.

[A sinister aura grows ever closer]

[Warning: Danger Ahead]
