Hope for the future

Minutes have turned into hours. The battle is still going strong. It has already been 3 hours and it looks like it is not going to end anytime soon. The heavy casualties could be seen on both sides. The guards are just left with 21 of them and the kids are now just left with a third of their total. While the monkeys have around 1750 dead. Tired looks could be seen on the faces of both sides.

When all of a sudden, they monkeys got fiercer in their attacks. It seems that this is going to be the climax. The final battle is about to come. The humans in turn also got more aggressive, realising that this is the final straw.

Finn is currently dodging two monkeys who charges at him and then finishes them in one single motion. Blood splattered onto him. His body is littered with blood. But, none of it is his blood. He doesn't even have a single scratch on his body.

He treats this all as a rigorous training. These monkeys who could only charge and pounce couldn't be called an opponent for Finn. They don't have any abilities to put out a fight with Finn to even be considered a basic spar.

What Finn is looking forward to is actually the apprentices and the apprentice stage beast. He doesn't know how will he fare if he go against them but he knows that he could at least escape if he can't beat them. He trust his escaping ability which he has hone for countless years back on Earth.

He is wondering where the apprentices are though. They couldn't be seen at all from the start of the battle. And also, the leader of the monkeys which is believed to be a apprentice stage beast couldn't be seen too. It seems that both are preparing for each other to show up first and will decide their course of action later.

Finn hasn't stop dodging and finishing off the monkeys near him while thinking he is in deep thought. If these know that Finn is not even concentrating in battle, they would probably be even more terrified of him. They have never seen someone kills monkeys with such ease and with little effort.

Starting to get bored dealing with these monkeys, he senses Dran coming over after who knows how long. Hearing his rapid breath and hard stomping, it seems that he is currently pissed. Finn wonders what's wrong with him.

"Finn! I'm sorry for what Doug did! I said to him that if he had any problematic encounters, he could come to my location and I'll help him. But even though you saved him, not only does he not show you the proper gratitude, he even demeans you! Let me thank you for helping him."

With that, Dran does a 90 degrees bow to Finn with his hands cupped into fist. Finn hurriedly stops him in doing so. He doesn't want his friend to bow to him when he did nothing wrong.

"Hold it Dran! You don't have to do that. I only helped him because I sensed him with you a couple of times. But seeing him like that, don't blame me if I no longer helped him."

"Don't you worry Finn! I won't force you to do anything you don't want to. I'm actually quite disappointed with Doug, I thought that he is a righteous person who know how to treat kindness with gratitude. But not only did he demeans you, he also talked bad about you to me behind your back and tries to defame you. I'll help to clear your name!"

"I don't really care about such trivial matters such as clearing my name Dran. I don't need these kids' recognition. But I worry that he will drag you down Dran. Why do you still let him stick close to you? Do you know that he is the type of person that will betray you when things get south?"

"Hehehe Finn, Me and Doug were training partners back when I was still training with wooden swords. His Destian family has been an ally with my family since way back our great grandparents time. We couldn't sever our bond so easily. And, I believe that he isn't such a person who will betray me when things get south."

Dran says those words proudly. Finn knows that it will be hard to convince Dran to not be friends with Doug anymore. With Dran being stubborn with his belief and his loyalty, words wouldn't convince him at all. He doesn't want Dran to be betrayed by his close allies. He knows the feeling of being betrayed all too well. And it seems that Dran will need to experience it first hand first to realise it.

Finn then sighs in disappointment, unable to help his only friend in realising the true side of people. He just hopes that in the future, after Dran got betrayed, he will get back up and strive forward again while learning back from his mistakes.

'I just hope that it is not too late when you have realised about the hidden side of humans.'

Finishing his talk with Dran, he senses four Auras suddenly bursts in energy, coming from his east.

"Hey Dran! I sense that a huge battle is about to start coming from our east. Maybe it's the apprentices and the monkey's leader fighting."

"What! Really!? Then let's go see their battle! I'm sick of fighting these monkeys!"

With that, both of them runs in the direction where Finn senses the four Auras.
