Chapter :-57 Oda Nobunaga (Part-1)

"Are you serious Uncle Nuhigehe? You are telling me that the Gerard family has invited us, Oda family to [Kyoto] to talk about allying, to conquer the whole of Japan and unite the country under one banner."

"Yes…, and I want you to accept. I am well aware of your ambitions for the country, with Gerard family supporting your forces; you will surely be able to overcome the other warlords without much trouble."

"You misunderstand me Uncle, while I surely want to conquer Japan and unite the country, I am confident enough to do so with my own power, even if my army is at a numbers disadvantage against other forces."

"I am well aware of your intelligence in war tactics, but in this case, you simply don't have a choice,… you see the Gerard family didn't invite you because of their own decision rather the decision was made for them by someone, whom our whole Oda clan is indebted to, for the last few centuries."

"A Mikaelson?....tell me the truth Uncle, what is going on? And why is a Mikaelson acting, now of all times?"

"The founders of the alliance have deemed the constant conflicts within the country the country as a problem, and they intend to put a stop to all this in-fighting once and for all…."

"You, from the Oda clan have caught their attention and they intend use you to fight the other warlords and unite the country under your banner…."

"Uncle-…."

"Before you refuse at least hear me out first, the Minamoto clan, Koga clan and the Mikaelson clan will stay neutral while you conquer the different territories, they don't want any resources or land that you will gain after winning, they will not participate in the war, you will have the support of the Gerard clan who also don't want any extra benefits…."

"What do they want then?"

"They want the number of their officials within the Royal court to remain the same, they want you to stay out of their territory, and they will not provide you with any resources, other than soldiers and canons along with a few Mage-squads, and lastly [Kyoto] is off-limits."

Hearing her Uncle's words, Nobunaga raised an eyebrow and asked in a confused tone. She was very clear about the capital, that place has transformed into heaven in this chaotic land after the Mikaelson clan established their roots within the city.

She had intended to bargain for some land in the capital from the Mikaelson family, considering that the Oda family had deep ties with the Mikaelson clan.

"Why can't I take [Kyoto]?"

"Because it belongs to the Mikaelson family, the capital is off-limits to all forces, break these conditions, and they will have your head for it. Don't try to interfere within Mikaelson family's plans, you don't have any idea just how dangerous it can be…even in the alliance, no one dares to oppose Mikaelson clan within [Kyoto]…."

In reality, Henrik chose Nobunaga as the unifier due to her thought process and talent to grow immensely useful. A perfect battle-tactician who excelled in the [Art of War].

One of the first to assimilate western inventions and tactical concepts into the art of war, she wielded both a technological and economic advantage against her foes, with efforts focused on the control and development important hubs of industry and the establishment of policies emphasizing the promotion of results and individual merit.

Her war-tactics were based upon the rotating volley tactics employed by her troops, and its anti-army nature was drawn from her skilled leadership.

According to the history of Henrik's previous world, between 1560 and 1583, she eliminated many formidable enemies one after the other and even had the unification of the country within reach.

Though her campaign ended in Kyoto, at the temple of Honnō-Ji, thanks to the insurrection of Akechi Mitsuhide. The one who succeeded her was her former vassal, Toyotomi Hideyoshi.

Her clothing that looks like a military uniform is something she prepared herself out of hobby due to being a warlord.

Her personality was also fascinating, haughty and self-confident, she possessed a flexible way of thinking that loves new things and is not bound by conservatism and common sense.

Nobunaga was working vigorously towards the unification of the country, something which worked in Henrik's favour.

Henrik wanted her to join his forces, but that wasn't going to be so easy. Her personality and unyielding attitude made it very hard for him to think was a way to earn her loyalty.

And after thinking for some time, he did come up with a plan. It was a long-term plan which had a high success rate; he had to be subtle and smart to achieve his goal and subtle and smart he is.

Thus, he selected her to become the unifier; it was he who ordered Kiyohime to send an alliance request to the Oda clan.

All of this was a small part of his big plan, being a 2-millennium old individual. Planning and plotting was something he excelled in.

"So, what now?"

"Prepare your forces; we will visit [Kyoto] and agree with Kiyohime's proposal of allying with our clan."

(After few weeks)

The rather small army of Oda Nobunaga left Okehazama on horses and headed towards the capital, [Kyoto]. Into the territory of the mysterious Mikaelson clan, to sign the pact and officially announce their alliance in this war of conquest.

After a few weeks of continues travelling, except for resting for a few hours of rest and horse feeding. The overall journey was pretty bland and boring, but once they reached the city, words were not enough to describe their expressions.

Beautiful city, streets brimming with people, no beggars on the streets and people had genuine happiness over their face: orderly lined building and offices, beautiful homes and well-built roads everywhere.

A few people wore blue coloured Haori with "Police" written on their backs were patrolling the city with two-pairs of Katana on their back. The market was also well organized and surprisingly clean.

Even the different clan members worked accordingly without creating any kind of trouble. The City also had western technology and machinery in the southern quarter while the northern quarter was filled with traditional things.

In the middle to the city, the [Shogunate Pavilion] was located. Tall mansion with a large garden around it, Gerard family forces were patrolling the area along with the "Police".

Nobunaga was extremely attracted and inspired by the beauty and efficiency of the city, something like this was totally unheard of before. Even the Emperor owned a private piece of land with the capital, the value to this city was way more than anything.

But the name Mikaelson dominated the whole capital and no forces in Japan either had the power or the guts to fight them for the control of the city. Not only were the Mikaelson extremely strong and wealthy but had also signed an alliance pact with the Minamoto, Koga and Oda families.

Meaning that anyone who eyed [Kyoto] would not only have to face the mysterious and dangerous Mikaelson family but also the combined might of the Minamoto, Koga and Oda families.

Nobunaga was thoroughly impressed and couldn't wait any longer, she just wanted to meet the Gerard family head and ask questions about the Capital, and it's transformation.
