Chapter :-108 Interlude-4 Gu Jie, The Black Sage (Part-2)

2050, Dahan, Kunlunfang Institute….

Gu Jie performed his surgery on nine of his apprentices for further testing. Sudden death cases occur, for then-unknown reasons, six to nine months after the operations. Only one of his 9-apprentices, Zhou Gongjin survived the procedure becoming the 2nd 'youth'.

Gu Jie was not only a researcher but also a powerful Tactical-class magician who was on the verge of breaking into Strategic-class but due to his magic being focused on manipulation, he lacked the fire-power to be classified as a Strategic-class magician.

Similarly his student Zhou Gongjin was even more dangerous when compared to an Intermediate-level Strategic-class magician.

He was a Master-Manipulator and has shown that he is able to manipulate the events of major conflicts so that he would be able to benefit from them. Gongjin uses his connections to create and manipulate conflicts, in order to achieve his goals.

Also, Gongjin can persuade other people into doing things for him, by redirecting their emotions and with his communication skills.

Zhou has an ability similar to Mind Control (Brainwashing) by taking advantage of the victim's thoughts. Victims usually have a spider bite mark somewhere in their body.

And finally, he had also mastered Strategic-class magic known as [Ghost Walker].

Zhou's Special Ability that manipulates the target's direction, unrestricted by physical parameters. It is ancient magic misdirect perception of direction. It allows him to escape from opponents and pursuit teams.

Theoretically, he could never be caught no matter what but this was only in theory as there were a few methods to counter this magic.

His combat ability was also higher than his teacher, being able to fight multiple enemies with ease. His magic [Shadow Beast] was magic that constructs a synthetic beast using shadows as a medium. The spell was hybrid magic that incorporates western sorcery.

And if this wasn't enough, he also possessed a unique [Healing Magic].

Unlike Modern Magic's Healing Magic, It was a kind of high-speed regeneration magic, which truly healed the wounds.

Overall this bunch of Teacher and Student were extremely capable and powerful individuals who were valued by the Dahan military but their bad days were about to begin, with betrayal.

2054, Dahan, Kunlunfang Institute...

Confirmation of Gu Jie's ageing has stopped without showing any side-effects.

Leading up to 2054, research on Modern Magic and Ancient Magic was conducted by the institute and for their failures for which Jiedo Heigu (Gu Jie), the lead researcher including other Ancient Magicians were banished.

Betrayed by their own, Gu Jie and Zhou created their own organization's which were known as [No Head Dragon] and [Blanche] by the different organization's.

[No Head Dragon] was an international crime syndicate that abuses magic.

The name No Head Dragon (the headless dragon), didn't originate from the organization but was instead used by other organizations to refer to the syndicate because of the leader for [No Head Dragon] never appearing before his subordinates.

In order to appear before the leader even if the individual were to be punished, they were first rendered unconscious and then taken to a separate location, to a private room.

The current Headquarters for [No Head Dragon] was based out of Hong Kong. Its branch with Japanese resided on top of the highest floor in the Yokohama Grand Hotel in Chinatown, as Operational Headquarters before the financier was compromised, although the location was still referred to as such.

No Head Dragon was a magic criminal organization in which members of the organization must have knowledge and ability to use magic. For a member to be promoted to the upper echelon of the organization, the member must fulfil the condition of being a Magician.

The syndicate became famous for creating [Generators].

Generators were reconstructed Magicians created to be tools through a combination of surgery and magically crafted medicinal herbs, hereby eradicating free will and emotions and completely controlling all thoughts and flushing all unnecessary thoughts that might obstruct magic activation.

The effect of magical herbs' not only adjusts the personal consciousness, emotions and perception of a Generator, it also improves their physical mobility. Generators being stripped of their emotions have lost their ability to falter so they remain stoic in whatever situation they are in.

The criminal organization also created [Sorcery Boosters].

Sorcery Boosters were magic amplifiers introduced by criminal organizations. These don't merely provide blueprints for the Magic Sequence — it's not a CAD but a Memory Capacitor also referred to as Amplifier that possesses a self-restoring blueprint built into the Magic Sequence that assists in the construction process. Through these, large-scale Magic Sequences are rendered possible by surpassing a Magician's original capacity.

Sorcery Boosters use a Magician's brain as raw material, because of which legal corporations are unable to manufacture the raw materials for this tool. No Head Dragon monopolize the supply for Sorcery Boosters.

Similarly like [No Head Dragon], [Blanche] was an International Anti-Magic Political Organization which manifesto called for an end to political systems that treated Magicians as superior, and eliminating the difference in treatment caused by the presence of magical abilities.

The members called themselves a citizen's movement. Historically, the Anti-Magic Movement had always been easily linked to criminal activity. In reality, there are several examples of Anti-Magic Organization's delving into terrorism.

The criticisms levelled by the Anti-Magic Organization's focus solely on the lack of their own benefit, and thus create anti-establishment organization's, of which Blanche is the most active.

Their objective was proven wrong because the preferential treatment from the political system towards Magicians was false. The truth of the matter was that Magicians are treated like tools to be used by the military and other government branches.

While it was true that Magicians serving in the military or the government received a higher salary, but that was in compensation for increased labour as well as expended life energy.

The difference they speak of is the difference in mean wages. They do not consider the extent of hardships that Magicians go through to obtain their high salaries. They also ignore the fact that Magicians are only allowed to work in fields pertaining to magic, even if these backup Magicians would receive lower salaries than ordinary office workers.

Their recruitment policy includes both normal people and magicians unsatisfied with their standings or treatment in the magic community.

Overall they were a dangerous bunch who were active all over the world.

Similarly this year, Yotsuba family witnessed the birth Birth of the twins Yotsuba Miya and Yotsuba Maya, the daughters of Yotsuba Genzou, the head of the Yotsuba Family.

2060, Dahan, Great Asian Union…..

The Great Asian Union dominates the northern part of China and the Korean peninsula and takes possession of Tsushima Island half a year later.
