Aurella's eyes would widen as she heard those words leave her father's mouth. Having to learn how to take a life? Why would he mention something like that?
"Why would we have to take a life father?" Marcus would ask in a worried tone.
Julius looked to his children seeing their reactions he would let out a silent sigh as he rubbed his face. He knew dropping this information on them suddenly wasn't the wisest thing. But then again, he wasn't one for intricacies. He really left those things to his wife.
"Because the world of Vampires is a cruel and unforgiving one. It is a truly dangerous place to partake in. Even more so for younger vampires such as you three. There is so much that we hadn't taught you. Because we didn't want to force you into the harsh realities of the world we inhabit. We wanted to ease you into the true reality of the world slowly but surely." Julius would finally say after a short while of thinking to himself. "But after having talked to one of the instructors. We believe it would be better if all three of you were introduced to the Vampiric world at the same time."
"So the true culture of Vampires...is one full of violence?" Marcus would ask looking to Julian and then back to their father. "Why is that?"
"Because we are spiteful people Marcus. Most other vampires aren't like our clan. They aren't as accepting of the fact that people have new views of the world and of society." Julius would continue to explain.
"But as Father was saying. This isn't something you guys are going to be forced into. Eventually you will face the reality of the world at your own paces. But take your time to think about the choices ahead of you." Julian would finally speak up after a while of just listening to the conversation between the four. "We are aware that your heads are now swimming with questions about what has just been said. But just take a moment to think about your answers before asking anymore questions."
Julius would stare at his son with shock in his eyes. It surprised him to see his son speak in a mature matter. But, he was also proud to see such a thing in action.
"Will we have to take the life of another though?" Aurella would speak up looking at them all. "Is that the future you are trying to prepare us for?"
"Whether you take a life or not is entirely up to you Aurella." Her mother would speak in a soft tone, gently placing her hand on Aurella's shoulder. "It is a choice of yours to make. And no one else's."
Aurella would nod slowly before she looked to her father. "May I be excused so I can think of the options I have been given Father?" she would say in a polite tone.
Julius would nod slowly giving her permission to go and ponder the choices ahead of her.
Taking the chance given to her. Aurella quickly made her way out of her fathers office and towards her room. Her mind racing with just the tid bit of information that had been given to her.
Entertaining her room. The first noticeable thing about it was the mural of a beautiful night sky. With the colors of purples, blues, pinks, and the background of black mixed in. The moon in the painting was in it's waxing phase.
There was a desk off to the left side away from the bed which lay just under the mural. Which held a ravens feather quill with a well of ink right next to it. Along with a stack of paper and a mostly used up candle.
To the right of the bed there was a closet next to a door to her bathroom.
Taking a deep breath she sat down on her bed as her thoughts began to run rampant. Did she really want to see the reality of the world that she lived in?
Aurella was a sheepish girl, and the mere thought of having to hurt another was something she didn't want to entertain. She didn't even like it when she had to spar with her father and having to actually throw attacks his way. It was one of the few things she got from her mother.
Looking to the Mural. Aurella smiled softly as she remembered having helped paint it with her mother and father. It was one of the many things she was rather fond of.
Closing her eyes slowly she laid back onto her bed as she started to quietly calm her mind. Slowing down the racing rapids that would eventually go into a steady flow.
As her thoughts calmed down. She began to wonder out of curiosity. If she could do so. How would the sun feel against her skin? That was the one question that kept coming back into her mind whenever she was resting.
She asked her father several times throughout the years, and always got the same answer each time. He didn't remember.
Opening her eyes a thought slowly bubbled to the front of her mind. It was a weird and aptly timed thought. And one that in a childish sense made sense. What if she embraced the reality of the world she lived in. As a way to feel the sun?
It was the only way she could justify wanting to go into a world full of danger and violence. Even if it was for quite the dangerous idea. But it couldn't be a bad thing to want to feel what so many billions of people get to feel every single day.
At least that's what she thought. Letting out a soft breath she continued to keep her eyes closed as she began to imagine how it must feel. To be a human. To not be cursed by something no one truly understood. To live without the worry of light.
