Marcus walked out of his fathers office as he let out a tense breath. The questions and choices that were given to him, floated through his brain sluggishly as he tried to figure out why exactly things were being brought up like this.
Hearing the door open and close behind him, Marcus turned around and saw his brother standing there with a curious look.
"So what do you think about what Father was saying?" Julian would ask his brother as he began walking towards him with his hands in his pockets. "About joining the vampire society."
"It is definitely a bomb to drop on someone.. especially with you having been the only one really primed for such a thing." Marcus would say doubt evident in his voice. "Like, how would me and Aurella train up to be able to be as combative as you?"
"That isn't something you need to worry about Marcus. All you need to worry about is at least understanding the basics of combat. The rest comes with time." Julian would assure his younger brother with a small smile. "Plus I wouldn't let anyone pick on you or Aurella."
Julian's words of assurance did some to help sway his choice in the matter. But he was still uncertain. He didn't know what to expect from what he would be walking into if he agreed. But nether the less. He wouldn't deny he was curious what the world truly held within it. Having not been showed most of it for a good portion of his life.
"There is a lot in the world that even I do not really know. A lot that I do know. But it never diminishes the huge amount of curiosity that I have. Especially when it is for discovering my place in the world." Julian would admit to his brother.
"How dangerous is the world outside of what we have seen?" Marcus would find himself asking his brother completely ignoring what was being said. It was a question that almost entirely caught Julian off guard. But to say he wasn't expecting it would have been a lie.
How did I end up being the one being asked the harder questions? Julian would think to himself for a moment as he let out a sigh. The truth to the question was one, even having had spent time in it was something he was still trying to swallow.
"Honestly Marcus...The world away from vampires is quite the dangerous one. And that is just mentioning the fact that there is a good most of the day and night cycle that can fry us alive with it barely touching our skin." Julian would say letting out a tired breath as he looked to his brother. "The world is truly dangerous, the human race is trying to wipe us off any map that they have, and there is the possibility of even vampires doing something similar."
Hearing those words made Marcus swallow his fear as he tried to not have a bad reaction to it. But the look that his brother held in his eyes was saying otherwise. And that was something that didn't bode well with the younger. He never expected to hear such a truth. But here he was, hearing his own brother telling him that the world was truly terrifying.
"So what is the point of us being apart of the vampire world if it is that bad." Marcus would ask his voice shaking from the noticeable fear that was beginning to flood it. "What would be the point if we willingly put ourselves in harms way?"
"Because even I don't know how the greater world of vampires is, dad vaguely remembers how it was from several hundreds of years ago. But the greater vampiric world is interconnected, and we could get a higher chance of survivability out of it." Julian would say placing a hand on his brothers shaking shoulder. "Trust me Marcus. The vampire world cannot be as bad as what I have seen come from that of humanity."
Marcus would look into his brothers eyes and see the confident look that was held within him. It gave him a feeling of confidence himself, and even worked on lessening the fear that he felt. It actually made him start to feel better. Somehow. Taking a deep breath he would nod after hearing what his brother had to say, and began to think about the choice he would be making.
Angelica would look to her husband with a saddened look in her eyes as she took a deep breath. "Well...you dropped the ball on that one Julius." She would say as they were left alone in the office by their children.
"I am aware of that Angelica dear...I should have just brought them in one on one and had the talk instead of having them all together like I did." Julius would sigh as he rubbed the back of his head as he looked at the pure black envelope that was laying on his desk.
"Have you even opened the letter from the council yet?" Angelica would ask seeing the hesitation in her husbands eyes. It wasn't like him to be hesitant about much, especially when it came to dealing with other vampire lords.
"No I haven't opened it yet, it is usually a bad thing when one randomly gets a letter from the council itself. It usually is a terms for absorption into the greater vampiric world, or terms of extermination. Both which usually aren't a good thing." Julius would say lighting one of his cigars taking a long drag from it. "But I do plan on opening it now."
He would then pick up the envelope and tear it open before pulling out the neatly folded piece of paper that was inside of it. Slowly unfolding the piece of paper that was within it. Julius would read the piece of paper slowly as his eyes slowly began to widen in surprise as he began to realize what it was that was within the contents of the letter.
The Vampiric high council was wanting him to become a member on the council.
