Aurella would lay in her bed thinking about what it would be like to be able to feel the light of the sun against her skin. Would it have been like feeling the warmth of a fireplace in the winter? It was something she was always curious about. It saddened her that she couldn't find out on her own, having heard the horrifying stories of what happened when sunlight barely touched the skin of her kind.
She slowly began to imagine the feeling of a warm fire gently radiating against her skin and began to steadily doze off into a light sleep.
It was some time as she lay there in her slumber before she eventually found herself in a cold and wet alleyway, sitting behind a dumpster that smelled like people or as if something had died inside of it.
Looking around, shaking, she wondered how she got here. She could have sworn she was in her room, laying on her bed. Or was she?
Slowly standing up, she began to wander down the alleyway that seemed to stretch on forever, hearing her footsteps with each step she took. Stepping into a puddle, she felt the shockingly cold water splash against her feet and her legs as she let out a gasp.
Looking down, she began to realize she wasn't in the clothes she fell asleep in. Well, it was probably going to be the case if she wasn't in her room.
What is going on here? And how did I end up in the middle of Harry Potter? She would think to herself before continuing down the alleyway.
Hearing a loud metal shriek yell out from behind her, she slowly began to turn around as fear started to take hold deep in her gut. Her eyes widened the moment she saw a tall, dark figure standing before her. Feeling her voice slowly catch in her throat, she turned and began to run, her footsteps echoing throughout the alleyway with a mix of splashes from each puddle she stepped into.
A loud, almost demonic-sounding roar echoed out from behind her. It seemed to cause the fabrics of reality to warp as the alleyway began to twist and constrict around Aurella as she ran.
Aurella slowly came to a skidding stop before turning around to see the figure mere steps behind her. But this time, as she gazed upon it, she caught it. It was almost like she could see its details.
The creature was covered in what seemed like millions of bugs that crawled around in an almost unified form, echoing out with the eerie sounds of the bugs crawling on top of one another.
Shuddering at the noises that they made, she looked up at the figure which continued to tower over her as it made slow steps towards her.
With each step the figure took, it slowly began to grow smaller, forming several different pools of bugs that eventually began to rise into other humanoid-looking figures of pure bug terror. Aurella would eventually find herself surrounded by several of them.
"W-what do you want with me..?" Aurella would say, her voice cracking from the fear she was feeling. She already had an innate fear of creepy crawlies, and this just didn't make it any better. 'What puppies did I kick in a previous life to deserve a dream like this?' She'd think to herself.
"Your... heart." One of the figures breathed in a long, almost inhale-like whisper before almost solidifying into a single mass. A single form. All the other figures in a sequential manner followed suit.
Starting to back up slowly, she quickly began to notice that the ground was covered in hundreds, no, millions, of creepy crawlies, all of which crawled over her bare feet. And every tiny step made over her skin felt like a thousand needles gently pricking her.
Crying out in shock, she found herself slowly sinking into the mass of bugs as the figures began to surround Aurella and hold their hands out to her.
Coming to consciousness, Aurella shot up in her bed, letting out a scream of fear. Gripping the covers on her bed tightly, she looked around as sweat dripped down her body.
Taking several deep breaths, Aurella eventually managed to calm herself down as she slowly got out of bed and looked into her mirror. Although vampires' reflections were never shown in a true mirror, she always had one to make things feel normal.
To Aurella's surprise, though, there she stood, staring at herself in her reflection in a true mirror. Her long, dark brown hair was slightly messed up and damp from the sweat. Her almost blood-red eyes stared into themselves with a look of bewilderment in them.
What weird world did she wake up into where she could see herself in a mirror all of the sudden? Looking at the blue dress she wore, Aurella decided to reach her hand out towards the mirror in an attempt to touch it.
What could go wrong?
Touching the mirror, it moved almost like a puddle where the surface had been disturbed. Moving her hand deeper into the puddle, she didn't know what to expect as she suddenly felt something hard and smooth, like that of obsidian.
Grabbing it, she slowly began to pull her hand out of the weird, glassy liquid. As she looked, she saw what seemed to be an almost crystal-like skull in her hands. Letting out a panicked cry, she dropped the skull onto the floor as she took several steps away from it. She eventually stopped as she felt her back touch the wall of her room before she quickly looked at her door and ran to grab the doorknob.
The doorknob felt several degrees colder than it usually did as she slowly twisted it and opened the door out into the hallway which was full of bugs crawling all over the walls, the floors, and the ceiling.
Did I wake up? Or is this some kind of twisted magic trick? As Aurella would think to herself, her heartbeat was beginning to skyrocket.
