Hearing Myst speak those words. It hit Maurice deeply, even more so that she chose to share how she was truly feeling. For Myst had never been known to truly share her feelings with another. Or at least that was as far as she was aware of. Maurice would gently rub the girls back. Before slowly helping her up to her feet.
"Come on Myst, we don't have much time before the sun rises. We have to be able to save Aurella. Do you think that you could pull yourself together enough to pull that off?" Maurice would ask, that semi cold tone returning to her voice. She hated that she had to sound that way, but for Aurella and soon to be them. This was about to become a serious life or death situation. And that was with the lost time that they definitely couldn't be making up. Checking her watch Maurice would see that they had lost a total of about fifteen minutes. All from Myst having a mental episode. Not that she personally blamed the younger vampire. She has had it rough the first couple of years of her life.
"Yeah...Sorry to waste the precious time." Myst would say still in the process of pulling herself together before, she continued back into looking for her gear through the mess that was her room.
"And Myst, when we get back from this mission. We seriously need to clean your room. It is a absolute mess. And near impossible to walk around in here. You should be disappointed in yourself. And you seriously want to be the one to claim the love of Julius' oldest son?" Maurice would say earning a startled blood from the girl. Before promptly being slugged in the arm full forced.
Needless to say. She deserved it. Teaches her for making a snide comment like that.
"D-don't say things like that Maurice. I am still scarred for life having known you were watching the entire time." Myst would say seemingly getting back to normal at a quickened pace at the mention of Julian. Deep down she truly did like him. And her actions within the sauna. She truly didn't know where they had came from, for it was almost like she was a completely different person for a moment. Must be what it's like to truly love someone. Or at least fancy them in any degree.
"It was quite nice to see that you are quite the woman after all. Sexual tension involved or not. And if I were to suggest something. Maybe try to go the extra step next time. Make it something he truly won't forget." Maurice chuckled as Myst started to turn beat red while getting dressed in her combat gear.
"You truly are the worst Maurice. You know that right?" Myst would say as she zipped up the front of her combat shirt. Taking a deep breath as she felt her breathing become harder for a second. Before stabilizing and evening out. From the tightness of the leather combat shirt she wore. It was almost like something out of the movie Underworld.
"I may be the worst. But I am still your friend. And nothing will change that." Maurice would say before gently patting Myst's back. "And I mean that Myst. If you need a shoulder to lean on. Then please don't be afraid to come to me about anything."
Those words touched Myst to her core. She had heard it from all of the older vampires that inhabited the manor alongside her. Knowing full well the effects vampirism and immortality has on the life on someone who wasn't born a immortal. It was still a concept she was trying to wrap her head around. Even after forty long years of living as a vampire.
It was almost as if she had been born a vampire. And deep down. She wished that she was born a vampire. Then maybe she would have never had to deal with the events that scarred her for life.
Even after forty years. These memories, these scenes always came back into her mind and wrecked havoc on her. The more that she tried to push the thoughts and memories away. The more harsh they became. And it was almost like they were living and breathing. Trying to get the best of her at every corner they reared their ugly heads.
But her fathers words must have truly had some merit to them then. For when it comes to vampires. The only true enemy that they had was themselves. And the memories of their extremely long lives that would come back to haunt them. Even if it weren't because they had done something wrong in their own lives.
"I need to stop by the upstairs armory and pick up a few things." Myst would say grabbing everything that she could find in her room, and beginning the make her way out of it.
"And what things do you need to be grabbing from the armory?" Maurice would question the younger girl, as she followed her out of the disaster zone of a room.
"I need to grab some of my throwing stars. And I need to grab that blade." She would respond walking down to the armory. A serious look taking to her eyes.
"You know that blade is off limits for our rank within the coven right?" Maurice would question yet again as she followed behind Myst. "It is one of the blades that have been within the coven for generations and you are just going to grab it to use against a lesser vampire?"
"If you mean lesser vampire as in Boris. There are a quite many ways that he is definitely lesser. But need I remind you that his entire body is crawling with bugs that give him super human strength? And that Julian doesn't have the ability to enlarge bladed weapons yet." Myst would say blatantly stating her intention behind wanting to grab the blade.
It was the only way he would be able to truly stand a chance against Boris in one on one combat. Especially if they wanted to succeed in rescuing Aurella from him.
