chapter 6 Life after meeting him again.

Chapter 6

Britt.

After tossing and turning in my quilt for hours I gave up on sleeping as I knew I won't be able to sleep, no matter how hard I try. My thoughts were filled with past and confusion... And him.

I picked up my phone to check the time, and call Mom to check up on her. She must be worried definitely. After all the drama happened today. I am surprised that she is not here to give me "Daisy mama care"

Saw the time it was 7:30 pm. There was a text from mom telling her she will be with an aunt. No use to call Mom now. And 6 from Nina asking me about the party. I called Nina but she didn't answer the call. Oh yes, she was having an evening shift at her part-time job today. I can go and meet her after her shift ends.

I got up from my bed kicking the quilt away, picked up my laptop and files. I started to write my essay, which took me almost 2 hours and then I did some office work. Which kept me busy and away from my thoughts. By the time was done with all the work and submitting my essay. it was almost 11 pm.

Nina's shift end at 12 so I can go for a jog and then from there I can go to the bar where she is working and meet her there.

I left a text on her cell telling that I will come to meet her. Changed into my running gear, playlist set, volume up. And I was out of the apartment at 11:09.

I peeked out from the balcony it was still pouring lightly, perfect.

I went down the stairs and left the apartment from the back door. Because that gives me an extra area for my jogging.

I ran as The Beatles sang about games and love in my ears. I sang along them, every song which came my way, enjoying the rain and taking out the frustration as my feet were working at their own pace. By the time I reached Nina's bar, it was 11:55 pm I was tired and all drenched. But worth it. I was actually feeling better and charged. which means she will still take 15 minutes to come out.

So I decided to walk near the area, lost in my thoughts and music I walked to the same club where I had met Mav, for the first time, the same club where our love bloomed, the same club where I kissed him, touched him for the first time. Shaking away the thoughts I went back to Nina and stood outside the back door from where she will be coming out. I checked the time l2:25 am

Strange she never takes this long, so I decided to call before I could dial her number, she came out of the door. Looking shocked or constipated I couldn't decide.

"What's wrong?" I asked with concern.

"Nothing let's go I am starving and my calves are killing me," she said as she hung herself on my shoulders making a cute face. Then cringed when she felt my wet clothes. And moved away

"Okay boss," I said as I did a salute with a laugh. She giggled. I know something was going on inside her head. She will tell me later anyway so I decided not to nag her.

"Can we grab a burger, yes we can!" She asked and answered herself. I smiled and we walked away from the bar to the parking where her car was parked.

We ordered a burger and large chocolate shake for her and a tea for me from the only shops which was open at that hour. The rain had almost stopped. We sat near the pavement, as the fresh breeze mixed with raindrop slammed us. And we talked about how shitty her shift was, how much her boss irritate her. And how much she hated her job. And how much she just wants to get married and become a housewife. She really works her ass off to pay her bills by doing as much as part times she can. Finally looking relaxed and happy.

Good food and free talks make everyone happy. Isn't it?

"Ohhh... How was your day?" She asked suddenly.

"It was AWESOME," I said with an eye roll as I showed her a thumbs up.

"Yeahhhh.... Right," she said with a laugh than her laugh suddenly fell down.

"What happened?" I asked her

"Nothing serious..." She said as she took a sip shamelessly from my tea.

"Let me drink this full... I need to eat healthy" while pointed a finger toward her tummy.

"What's wrong Nina?" I asked with strain

"Nothing just work.." She said while waving a hand as "nothing serious"

"Ok-a" I replied.

We finished our food talking about Gary and today, I choose to not tell her about all the "Maverick drama" as her mood was finally up. And she forced me for blind dates, dating apps and her colleagues who want to date me and her. Sick!

It is her way of taking life lightly, talk about everything and anything just to keep the talking going on. I love her for always acting silly for me.

"Shoot shoot Britt," she said suddenly all panicked while getting up.

"What-what happened," I asked while getting up as following her to her car.

"I forgot my cellphone at the bar, the battery was dying so I left it on charing, IN MY BOSS'S OFFICE!"

"So you can take it tomorrow"

"No no web - me and Ross opened his cabin, we are not allowed to go in, if he will know we went inside his cabin without his permission he will fire us,"

she said with panic as we sat in the car and she hit the gas to go for saving her phone and her part-time job.

"Okay"

We reached the bar she went inside as I waited near the back door. Feeling cold.

*5 minutes later... She didn't come out*

*10 minutes later... still not there*

*20 minutes later... No sign of her*

I swear if she has stopped to do some "quick bathroom talking" with Ross I will kill her. So I went inside to check on her. Because I was really getting worried about her and I was cold as the wind was chilling.

When I reached the bar area Nina was there, standing with an empty glass of a drink as the drink of the glass was dripping down from the shirt of the man, who was wiping his face with his hand.

A laugh spilled out from my mouth as I walked toward Nina who was about to attack the man again. I reached her to stop her and I saw the man.

"What the f- MAV...." I said as my laughter died.
