Fort Worth. TX.
After the first outbreak my mother decided to move us back to where we had more family which was Texas. I remember what was on TV it was a world event all remaining countries came together to sign a world treaty it was called the "Human Alliance Treaty". which basically said that the world would enter peace and help each other strengthening the weaker countries.
"It won't last long humans desire conflict." I said in a cold voice.
"Geez Chance can't you just show some type of happiness that our world is at peace."
"People still fight for cranberries on Thanksgiving." I said while giving a fake smile.
"You boys better stop that fighting its getting annoying." our mother said giving us a annoyed expression.
I didn't try to be so cold and emotionless all the time I just didn't know how I should act, I also didn't understand what people meant I laughed I got angry just never showed it and even cried just rarely. I love my family very much I didn't mean to start fights with my siblings I respected my brother even looking up to him as a father figure because he was always around and took the role as man of the house really well. We both wanted the same job we wanted to join the Grand Army Of The Dead or G.A.T.D for short, they always had recruitment commercials playing showing the combat against the Husk. Yes we still had active Husk in the world they seemed to hide in deep forest and we had walled off cities that are just to large to clear. Once our world found peace we formed a one world military that only fought against the Husk and terrorists groups named Eclipse and Blood Pack.
"Are you boys ready we are about to head out to dinner with your sister and grandparents."
We were deep in the city celebrating our sisters success in entering a prestigious medical academy when the second outbreak happended.
------------------------------------------------------------------
2 hours later. Some restaurant in Fort Worth.
"We are proud of you Lisa you are doing so well." our grandma said in a sweet voice.
"If only your brothers could get their heads out their asses and become men." grandpa said in a rough voice like sandpaper.
"Actually, I already know what I'm doing." my brother said pulling out a piece of paper. " I'm joining the Grand Army. I already got everything taken care of and will be shipped out next month."
"Why is this the first time I'm hearing about this when did you..." our mother was speaking in a worried almost shaking voice before she got cut off by screaming and a car crashing into the restaurant.
"WHAT THE HELL!" grandpa roared.
All of a sudden hell broke loose screaming and gun shots throughout the city. Somehow Husk had found their way into the city and they weren't the same.
"Husk in the city how is this happening." Clayton said in a shocked tone.
"They don't look like normal Husk look at their eyes." Lisa said in a scared almost faded voice.
"It doesn't matter, but what does is that we need to leave." Our mother said in a quick and calm voice.
We all agreed and ran for the door while everyone in the restaurant was either panicking or being attacked by a Husk. Once outside we could see large building on fire and gunshots and screaming ringing through the city. As we made our way to the car a Husk had broken through the glass of the restaurant and grabbed our grandmother ripping into her flesh.
"AHHHHH HELP ME!" grandma cried in pain.
"LET GO OF MY WIFE YOU FILTHY HUSK!" grandpa said in anger as he ran back grabbing grandma.
"NO!" my mother screamed.
As grandma turned almost instantly biting grandpa and ripping through his throat.
"Mom we have to go." Clayton said in a worried shakey voice while grabbing our mothers arm.
As we turned the corner expecting to see the car it was already totalled by a truck that had lost control.
"The car what do we do." Lisa said in a scared almost crying voice.
We all looked at each other with worry looking for answers. I looked around and noticed a hardware store was open and taking in people.
"Look over there they are taking in people." I pointed in the direction of the hardware store.
As we started moving towards the store, while 4 Husk had seen us and started giving chase. It wasn't that far but it seemed like we would never reach the store we ran and ran while being chased by the Husk. Eventually we made it to the parking lot of Jones Hardware when we noticed the store owner Jones waiving us in we moved towards the door as one of the Husk closets to us jumped towards us.
"WATCH OUT, BEHIND YOU!" Jones said.
Then we heard a gun go off.
"BANG! BANG!"followed by 3 more shots.
A police officer had found us and opened fire at the Husk behind us he dropped the first Husk with the first 2 bullets he fired. The second he shot twice in the center of mass and then once in the head. But before he could take out the remaining Husk he was taken down from behind. We managed to get in the store thanks to the sacrifice of the officer.
"Quick help me barricade this door." Jones said in a panicked voice.
We helped Jones push some shelves in front of the door we didn't have to worry about windows because they were high up. The 3 Husk that had attacked the officer had joined the 2 at the door of the store the officer had turned Husk and was missing his legs and was slowly crawling towards the store. In the store 8 survivors had taken shelter my mother brother sister and myself, the Store owner Jones and his employee, and a man and woman.
"What's going on out there." the man said
"I thought we taken care of the Husk in the city." the women said.
"It doesn't make since theses are normal Husk they look different and the bite turns people instantly." Lisa said in a small voice.
"Grandma and grandpa are gone, I can't believe it." Clayton whispered.
My mother hadn't said a word since we entered the store she was still in shock of losing her parents. My siblings and I as well we couldn't believe what had happened.
"Well the only thing we can do is wait for G.A.T.D. So let's all get some rest I'll take first watch." Jones said in a calm voice.
