Enlil kept mum when Astrid bombarded him with questions on a mentor for Ace Wagner. She was curious and Enlil was annoyed. By the time they finished their training in the afternoon, Astrid's pestering increased a notch.
`Come on, why can't I meet her? Why are you so secretive about her?' Astrid spoke.
`Look she thinks you are my wife or kid and she is not someone you want to mess with', Enlil looked at his pocket and pulled out a small black book containing Girra phone's number.
`You have her number? Please can we call? Wouldn't it be great to have a tag team of sorts?', she beamed.
`Jeez, we are not tag team', Enlil frowned.
`I don't understand why you can tutor me, but Ace is left out. You should be called Grumpy', she crossed her hands across her chest.
`Fine, I will call her okay', Enlil gave up knowing Astrid will not stop until Girra appears. He called her phone and she answered at the last ring.
Enlil motioned Astrid to keep quiet.
Enlil: Hey, Girra?
Girra: Yes. There was a moment of silence before she acknowledges him.
Girra: Enlil, what do you want?
Enlil: I….I…um…..
Girra: Cat got your tongue?
Enlil cleared his throat and spoke.
Enlil: Ihavestudentwhorequiresyourhelp.
Girra: Woah. Go, slow hero.
Enlil: I have a student who needs a mentor. He is of the fire element.
Girra: Where do I fit?
Enlil: Which part of mentor you did not understand?
Girra hung up.
Astrid snatched the phone from Enlil's hand and dialled her number again.
Girra: WHAT?
Astrid: Miss Gira?
Girra: What do you want? And who are you? Why are you with Enlil?
Astrid: I'm Astrid. Enlil is my mentor and my boyfriend is the one with the fire element.
Girra: Is Enlil staying with you?
Astrid: He is staying with me and Grandpa Jones.
Girra: Jones?
Astrid: You know my grandfather?
Girra: Yes, he is my father.
Astrid: That means you are my aunt?
Girra: Nammu? Are you Nammu's kid? Where is Enlil? Pass the phone to him.
Astrid tosses the phone to Enlil and smirked.
Girra: Why didn't you say so? Are you blackmailing me?
Enlil: You hung up on me.
Girra: You dumped me, you jackass.
Enlil: Can we not talk about the past?
Girra: What's the magic word?
Enlil: Please?
Girra: Let me think about it. Send me your location and if there are any enhancements allow me through.
Enlil: Thanks. Listen, I am sorry for-
Girra: Don't get ahead of yourself. I did not promise anything.
And Girra hung up.
Enlil laughed that Astrid managed to get Girra to come over. However, Astrid was stumped that she had an aunt, and no one told her. She disappeared into pop's room and asked him bluntly.
`How is it that I never knew of having an aunt?', she spoke to pop directly and stared at him.
`She was never close to us from the beginning. After your mother chose that vampire, she cut ties with her knowing that damn guy would break her heart', pop spoke.
`She may not even agree to mentor your boyfriend Astrid', Enlil spoke the truth.
`But don't you think you are holding grudges against something that happened many years ago. And Ace is not a regular guy. I mean he has-', Astrid was cut short by Enlil.
`Seriously, you need to see her first before you accept her to tutor Ace. She is one hot lady', Enlil raised his eyebrows at her.
`Hot as in a fire or hot as in hot?', Astrid questioned.
`Both', pop spoke.
`I'm just frustrated that you guys are withholding so many things from me. Next thing I know someone will appear and say I am a long lost inseminated embryo from another mother', Astrid felt her anger building up.
`Tell me that was a joke', Enlil asked.
`Pun intended, stupid', Astrid glanced at him.
`Astrid. Watch your language', pop admonished her.
`At least I am being honest', she crossed her arms across her chest.
`There are no more. Just your father whom we did not bother to trace. He is a real prick and I wish nothing but death to him', pop spoke slowly astonishing Astrid because her grandfather was usually diplomatic and seldom got angry.
`Girra is not someone who forgives or forget easily. She is fiercely protective and we just have to wait for her to come here. Then we can talk to her', Enlil nudged Astrid to leave pop alone as he looked upset.
Astrid sighed and flopped in her bed.
`Look I will talk to her', Enlil tried to reassure Astrid.
`Yeah, but she is your ex. She hung up on you just now.', Astrid rolled her eyes at him.
Enlil rested his head on a chair and closed his eyes.
`What happened between you guys? Why the animosity?', Astrid questioned.
`She wanted to settle down and I refused.', Enlil spoke with his eyes still closed.
`Why would you refuse someone hot like her'?, Astrid looked at Enlil.
`I wasn't in my right mind. Maybe I was not into it in the beginning. I don't know', Enlil was confused with his feelings.
`Do you like her?', Astrid threaded carefully.
`I guess I still do', Enlil spoke softly.
`Then don't you think you should be running after her?',
`Trust me I know I should. But if I were to do it again, then it has to end with marriage', Enlil sighed heavily and pulled his dreadlocks.
`So who is stopping you? Don't tell me it's me' she scoffed at him before he can retort.
`Its just me. I'm indecisive', Enlil confessed.
`Well, you better decide fast because I don't want Ace to explode. Otherwise, you will be the next dead meat', Astrid looked into Enlil's eyes, adamant for Ace to channel his energy in the proper way.
Enlil looked at Astrid and nodded. He signalled for Astrid to shower because he promised her to accompany her to the market to sell her Jungle Jones products.
