All cured

Under Cara and Chang Ying, the patients gradually started to get better. Out of all 50, almost all had recovered in the span of 5 days.

Back in his tent, Dan-lookalike received the report from his soldier.

"What? All of them are cured?!" his voice raised in excitement, his face a look of disbelief.

"Yes sir, reports from the infirmary is that everyone has recovered from the illness and are healthy enough to be released."

Dan-lookalike could not believe what he heard. Back when the doctor had proposed the solution, he thought it was too simple and was almost sure it wouldn't work! He agreed only because there was some conviction in the young doctor's voice that made him trust her.

"Lao Fu, we need to write back to the Emperor immediately. Inform him that the cure for this plague has been found, and Wuxing village is saved! Write to the other villages as well to inform them of the cure." Dan-lookalike instructed his right hand, Lao Fu.

"Noted, sir." Lao Fu immediately went to the table and got to his task.

Dan-lookalike stood up and asked his soldier, "Where is this doctor, bring me to her."

The soldier nodded and led Dan-lookalike to where Cara was.

As Dan-lookalike got closer to the infirmary, he heard laughter and chirpy voices coming from the area. And when he got near the barricades, he could see that the villagers were all well and chatting in the garden behind the infirmary, even gambling and playing games. Those people looked way too lively. You couldn't tell that they were almost on death's door just a few days ago. And how dare they gamble in front of him!

Cara was chatting with some of the patients when she saw people walking out of the imperial tent. She immediately walked over when she saw Dan-lookalike coming close.

"Greetings, sir." Cara smiled.

"Thank you for your assistance over the past few days. As you can see, everyone has recovered and is well. " she gestured to the villagers.

The villagers saw the situation and immediately stood up to bow, thanking Dan-lookalike for saving them as well.

Dan-lookalike smiled. "Indeed it looks like everyone has recovered. We will observe you all for a few more days before letting you go.

He turned to Cara, "As for you... After all this is done, I would like you to follow me to meet the Emperor."

Silence followed.

"The Emperor?" Cara asked suspiciously. "Like, the real one?"

"There is only one Emperor in this country." Dan-lookalike responded, sounding slightly offended. Who was this woman, did she not know who an Emperor was?

"Yes, yes, I thought I heard wrong. It will be my first time meeting an Emperor." Cara tried to play it off.

"We will make sure you are prepared." Dan took a glance at her, "I will get my servants to send you an outfit to wear for when we depart 5 days later." He then turned and walked away.

Cara was left standing with a puzzled expression on her face, while the rest of the villagers came up to congratulate her.
