Chapter 2: Bad Liar

I dressed myself up with the new dress I bought earlier to prepare myself for the biggest event tonight. As much as I tried to keep it in, I can't help but be excited!

A new cartoon movie was released today and I wanted to watch it, but of course it's not really because of that. It was actually because I'll be watching it together with my boyfriend. My boyfriend Jim, who I've been with for 5 Years. My boyfriend Jim who promised me to propose on the day of our fifth anniversary.

I don't really know if he was serious about it since we were just joking at that time, but I just can't help it. What if it's actually true, you know? I gotta be prepared for it, and so I wanna look pretty for him to make him see no one else, but me.

'Oh, I almost forgot to call Jim.'

I dialed his telephone number.

RINGING...

"Hello?" said Jim over the phone.

"Hi, Babe! How are you?" I greeted him.

"Oh, Hi Baby! I'm good and all."

"So, when will you pick me up?"

"Pick up for what?"

"You know, For our Fifth anniversary."

"W-what?! Oh shoot, I'm sorry babe I forgot about it! I also can't go right now. Too much paper works to be done. I really am sorry, babe! I'll make it up to you tommorrow!"

"Oh... Really? N-no, It's okay. You don't have to come with me. Hope you can finish it!"

"Hmm~ yeah. I sure will."

"Oh, by the way. Why do you sound like you're out of breath?"

"I-I do? Sigh~ it's probably because of too much work. So tired and all."

"Oh my goodness, Jim. Take good care of your body! Don't overwork too much, okay?"

"Yeah. Happy Anniversary Babe."

"Happy Anniversary, too babe. I love you.."

He hung up.

'He is probably busy, huh?'

I sat on my bed and looked down. Although I said it's okay, it wasn't at all. I really felt disappointed and sad. 'How come he forgot our own anniversary?' Is his promise not real? Did I get too excited to the point I thought it's actually real? He usually never forgets our anniversary. Instead it was even me who keeps forget--

'Gasp!'

I looked up, the light in my face is back. 'What if it's a surprise?' What if he was lying all along? Pretending he's busy with his works, but he's actually busy preparing for our big day?

As I regained my energy, I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled before heading out.

I giggled at the thought of it. 'Oh, Jim.. You really are such a bad liar.'
