Chapter 48 Xia Yuxun! Are You a Pig?

Leng Sichen threw Xia Yuxun onto the bed, stifled with anger. He was about to question her about when she started mingling with Li Yunzhe, but found she had fallen asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

"Xia Yuxun! Are you a pig?"

Leng Sichen was not foolish enough to wake her at this time; otherwise, he would most certainly be bitten.

He knew her tolerance for alcohol all too well!

In the middle of the night, Xia Yuxun groggily woke up, not knowing where she was for a moment, but her drunkenness had mostly worn off. She rubbed her hair and then sleepily wandered toward the light.

Gently pushing open the door, she found Leng Sichen still working: his fingers dancing over the notebook at times, at other times flipping through files, writing and scratching out.

Xia Yuxun's steps involuntarily rooted to the spot as she watched him work with such concentration.

Leng Sichen's hand, which had been flipping through the files, suddenly paused and pressed against his stomach, his face showing pain.

Xia Yuxun hurried over, "What's wrong?"

Leng Sichen looked up in shock at the suddenly appearing Xia Yuxun, "You woke up?"

"Where are your medicines for stomach pain?" Xia Yuxun hurriedly searched through a nearby drawer, finally finding an empty medicine bottle.

"Just go to sleep! I'm fine," Leng Sichen frowned as he spoke.

Xia Yuxun turned and left as he had told her.

Leng Sichen's expression was slightly melancholic.

Not much later, Xia Yuxun came running back barefoot, "One white pill, three capsules! Ah, no, there's no hot water to take them with, and you definitely haven't eaten; taking meds on an empty stomach is bad for you."

Xia Yuxun then took the medicine back, returning a while later with a bowl of porridge in her hands, featuring some ham, egg flowers, and vegetables. "Have some porridge first, then take your medicine. I thought your fridge would be empty, but everything was there. You have all the ingredients but never cook, how lazy can you be!"

He lacked nothing except a wife to care for him. Before long, when the mistress moved in, this place would probably truly have everything.

"Where did this medicine come from?" Leng Sichen asked, looking surprised.

Xia Yuxun rolled her eyes at him, "I always carry it with me, just in case. Turns out it was useful, right!"

"..." He really was a walking medicine cabinet. He had been surprised the last time at the Crimson Bar when he saw her pull out gauze and alcohol from her bag; he never imagined that tiny bag contained everything.

"How much did you make?" He actually wanted to ask when she had learned to cook because as far as he remembered, she could only burn the kitchen down, never actually produce anything edible.

"Quite a lot, don't worry about it running out," Xia Yuxun said.

Leng Sichen's expression softened a bit, "You should eat a bowl too. You haven't eaten anything except drinking tonight."

Xia Yuxun paused, then chuckled foolishly and happily went to serve the porridge.

While eating, Leng Sichen showed a strange expression.

Xia Yuxun immediately asked with some trepidation, "What's the matter? Did I add too much salt? It tastes fine to me!"

"This taste... it's very familiar, similar to the takeout one night!" Leng Sichen mused.

"Er... really? Hehe... that means my cooking is good, huh!" Xia Yuxun forced a laugh.

One night? Could it have been the night she had the madwoman deliver it? Knowing his stomach wasn't well, she also made porridge that night...

"Xiaoxun, let's have a chat," Leng Sichen said seriously after finishing his medicine and a moment of silence.

Xia Yuxun's body jolted; she knew she would have to face this moment eventually—to confront or evade, a multiple-choice question she never wanted to tackle.

"Talk about what?"

"Xiaoxun, I'm getting engaged next month, and if nothing goes wrong, I'll be married next year."

"Mhm," Xia Yuxun nodded, waiting for him to continue.

"We both must live our own lives, no one should center their life around another forever. I will have my life, and you need to clearly find your own path for the future."

"Mhm." Her nod was somewhat strained.

"Xia Yuxun, do you understand what I'm saying?" Leng Sichen sighed. He had wanted to get straight to the point, but ended up taking a roundabout approach, still unsure if she could truly understand.

Xia Yuxun tugged at a corner of her mouth, raised her pale face, "Achen, are you trying to drive me away?"
