I rounded the corner and that the roof and the floor was gone, leaving a small hole where someone else's bedroom was supposed to be. I also saw bodies strewn everywhere from a few of the families that had lived in the apartment complexes on the upper floor. Their skin had turned yellow and black as they were withering at an alarming rate, they then turned into green and red particles that had been absorbed by the ball that was hovering near them, like their bodies weren't enough sustenance for it's gluttony. I started to get nauseous as I leaned over and threw up the last of my lunch. The other rooms had already been completely demolished as the ball had grown to 4 meters tall and 6 meters wide.
After the withering process was over for all of the bodies nothing was left, almost like they weren't even there. If I hadn't seen it myself I would have almost had thought that they made it out alive. As I was recovering from the nauseating experience, I noticed that the ball had noticed me again, this time it was coming at me with more vigor. It then split itself into 2 under my astonished gaze, becoming even faster than before. I was rooted to the spot as I hadn't expected it to be able to evolve that fast as it had only been about 30 minutes since when I had noticed the ball in my room and from when the horrifying experience had started.
Waking up from my stupor when it was about a few feet away from me, I had decided to book it. I tried to turn around and run but I forgot about the other ball that it had split into. It was waiting there for me silently. As it had noticed me staring at it horrified, it then started moving at me faster than before. They then split into 4, sealing off all of my escape routes. Feeling helpless I had decided to just give up and just let it take me. At least me being dead couldn't be any worse than the situation that I was in. Since I couldn't do anything since every time my family had learnt that I had got a job I would somehow lose the job, which I suspect either my sister or my older brother had done to shame me.
