Chapter 15 – Past Self's Reminder

Alan was stunned while facing his clone face to face on the arena. He was unsure what to do at this moment as a sudden complicated feeling dwelled inside of him.

The clone smiled and looked at Alan, "What are you waiting for? Defeat me if you want to continue to the next floor."

While in the state of confusion, Alan took out his Star Sword and stood ready for a fight.

Suddenly, the clone smiled, "Nice sword!" he waved his hands, and a similar sword appeared.

"What? Why you have the Star Sword too?" Alan asked.

"Star Sword? Is that the name of your sword? Interesting…but no, my sword is just a replica of your sword. I copied it just now." The clone said.

"How did you copied it?" Alan asked.

"Although I am you, I still ultimately exist because of this tower. The tower gave me power." The clone calmly said.

The clone stared at Alan, "That's enough. Now, we fight." He jumped forward and directly attacked Alan from in front.

Alan raised his sword to parry the attack by holding the sword vertically.

*Ting!

The ground below them cracked when the swords touched each other.

Alan pushed his sword forward, and both of them retreated from each other.

"You're so weak." The clone said before he dashed forward and swung his sword endlessly.

Alan was helpless. He could not see the clone's movement at all.

"Damn, he's so strong." Alan lamented inwardly.

"Come on! Is this the ALAN that I know??!" the clone shouted while he slashed his sword many times towards Alan.

Alan was parrying the attacks before he saw his chance, "An opening!" he thought.

Alan hit the clone's sword, and the clone lost his grip on his sword before the sword was thrown away.

The clone smiled and hit Alan's head with his.

Alan was thrown back. "Damn!" Alan thought.

"I never said that only using a sword is allowed. Don't be so naïve." The clone smiled and looked at Alan in disdain.

The clone took back his sword, "The world's strongest? Don't make me laugh." He said.

Alan looked at the clone from the ground. He felt so weak. "Can't I do anything to him at all? Why am I so weak?"

The clone looked at Alan's sword, "Even with 'that' sword, it's useless, you still can't hit me." The clone calmly said.

"Don't you dare lose here. Focus, You're my master! Not him. He's just a mere clone." Alan's Star Sword vibrated.

Alan's soul was shaken inside when he heard what Star Sword said to him.

"Yes, I'm the real Alan, the genius prodigy." Alan thought before he closed his eyes.

After a while, when he opened his eyes back, one could see that Alan's mind now was clear. His temperament and aura changed from being timid like a slave to a majestically arrogant emperor.

Alan looked at the clone and calmly said, "You're just a clone, and you dared to piss me off."

The clone smiled, "If you're mad, then fight me."

Once again, the clone rushed and directly attacked from in front, but this time, Alan dodged the attack, making the clone passed through before he struck the clone's back from the side with his sword, but before the clone stumbled to the front, he spun his body along with the sword to attack Alan.

Alan was surprised, but he easily parried the attack while he slid on his feet to the back.

*Ting!

"Nice move!" Alan praised.

"You too." The clone smiled.

Suddenly, the clone stomped the ground, and it crumbled. Some of the rubbles flew into the air and was kicked by the clone towards Alan.

"Quite a cheap trick, don't you think so?" Alan said as he slashed all the incoming rubbles towards him.

*Boom *Boom

Suddenly, a fist appeared and tried to punch Alan in the face.

*Boom! Dust was everywhere.

"Not so cheap, quite moderate." The clone smiled.

When the dust cleared up, the clone saw that he did not hit in the face. His fist was caught by Alan.

"It is cheap. Too cheap, I tell you." Alan smiled before he punched the clone's face.

*Boom!

The clone was thrown away.

"Argh! Good! Good!" the clone madly shouted.

The clone jumped forward again while gripping his sword, thrusting towards Alan.

"Come!" he shouted.

Alan was also holding his sword. He looked at the clone calmly.

"Lotus Art: Blooming." Alan calmly said.

He spun with his sword to counter the clone's attack.

*Ting!

The clone stumbled backwards.

Alan stopped spinning and dashed forward towards the falling clone.

"Lotus Art: Piercing Petal!"

Alan's sword pierced through the clone's heart.

The clone released his sword and spurted out blood from his mouth before he looked at Alan.

"Now that's more like it…Don't disappoint me." the clone smiled.

"What do you mean?" Alan asked.

The clone stared Alan in the eyes, "You…know what…i…mean…" he was dying.

Alan looked deep into the clone eyes as if he was trying to look for the soul before he said, "Don't worry. I won't disappoint you." He smiled.

The clone smiled back before he released his last breath.

Alan fiercely looked at the sky, "I will rule them all."

"Pftt…kidding, to hell with ruling them all. In this life, I will laze around and do want I want." he laughed.

After Alan defeated the clone, he levelled up to level 39. This time there was no voice. Only a key was flying towards Alan like always.

Alan rested for a bit and updated his stats.

As usual, from thirty-first until the thirty-ninth floor, was normal. Alan just killed all the monsters on each floor.

Alan took a lot of time to kill all the monsters. The monsters on these floors were not as weak as the previous floors. Most of the monsters were now tier 4 and 5.

From all the killing, Alan levelled up to level 41.

"Ding! Congratulation to the host for completing the main quest. A reward has been given." The system announced.

"Nice, it's been only at most two days, I managed to level up almost ten levels." Alan smiled.

Alan straight away opened the main quest reward he just got.

.......

Reward

1. Double Attributes Potion (1 hour)

2. Star Stone

.......

Alan stored the potion and immediately used the Star Stone on his Star Sword.

"Ding! Star Stone consumed, four more Star Stones to level up to tier 3."

"Hmm…I guess a higher tier will need to consume more Star Stones." Alan thought.

After that, Alan entered the fortieth floor with the key.

Once Alan on the floor, he saw nothing but an altar and the gate to the next floor. He approached the altar slowly.

Suddenly, there were three shadows shaped like a human body appeared on the altar.

"Welcome, boy." The first shadow greeted Alan.

"Yes, may I ask, who are you guys?" Alan politely asked.

"I'm afraid you're not qualified to know who we are." The second shadow replied.

"Okay, then. So, what I need to do here?" Alan asked.

"You need to choose between the three of us." The third shadow answered.

"Choose what?" Alan asked again.

"If you choose me, I will give you an infinite power to rule the world." the first shadow said.

"If you choose me, I will give you eternal life." The second shadow said.

"If you choose me, I will tell you a secret." The third shadow said.

Before Alan said anything, suddenly there was a cute girl voice spoke in his mind.

"Be careful! Don't choose any of it. It's a trap. I don't' know why I knew it's a trap but trust me." The cute voice said.

Alan raised his eyebrows because of the sudden voice spoke to him before he smiled. That was what he intended to do anyway.

Alan looked at the three shadows.

"I don't need someone to give me the power to rule the world. I can obtain it myself." Alan said to the first shadow.

"I don't need eternal life," Alan said to the second shadow. He did not need it, as he had no interest in it right now. Looking back at Erica's situation. Immortality was obtainable.

"I don't care about your secret. I have too many secrets and problems right now waiting to be solved." Alan said to the third shadow.

The shadows were speechless by Alan's choice. They were silent for a while before the three of them said at the same time.

"Fine."

The shadows immediately disappeared. Once they vanished, a golden key was flying towards Alan and was caught by him.

"Hello." The cute voice reappeared.

Alan looked around and found a small girl flying around him.

"Fairy?" Alan thought.

"Yes, I am a fairy." She replied.

"Eh, you can hear my thoughts?" Alan asked.

"Yes. That's one of my abilities." The fairy said while flying around.

"Can you stop? You're making me dizzy." Alan said.

The fairy landed on Alan's shoulder.

"So, who are you and why are you here?" Alan asked.

"I don't have a name. I'm here because I followed you from the previous floors." She said.

"Why did you followed me?" Alan asked.

"Because you're my father." The fairy said.

"What? Since when I'm your father?" Alan was surprised.

"I was born since father entered this place." The fairy said.

"You mean the first floor? So you followed me from the first floor?" Alan asked.

"En." The fairy nodded.

Alan picked her up from his shoulder and put her on his other palm before he stared her.

"I'm not your father. You cannot follow me anymore." Alan said.

"Yes, you…are…" the fairy was tearing up.

"Why are you crying?" Alan was confused.

"Because father wants to leave me…wuah…" the fairy crying.

Alan stared at the fairy for a while before he sighed, "Fine, I'll keep you."

"Really?" the fairy stopped crying.

"Yes, but promise me not to read my thoughts without my permission anymore," Alan said.

"En! I promise." The fairy nodded vigorously.

"Well, at least she was cute." Alan thought. The fairy stopped reading Alan's thoughts, so she did not know that Alan just praised her just now.

"Iris, that's your name from now on," Alan said. He chose the name just because Iris was a crybaby.

Iris's wings were happily flapping before she kissed Alan's cheek. "Thank you, Father!"

Alan prepared a pouch where Iris can safely stay in it while Alan killed the monsters.

Alan was in killing spree until he reached the forty-ninth floor and levelled up to level 43. People who were watching Alan's progress outside were in utter shock from the moment Alan broke John's record on the thirty-ninth floor.

"This is it. The top floor." Alan calmly said while looking at the giant gate in front of him.
