James and I waited for what seemed like days. The cold dungeon walls made sure no light was to be seen and no warmth could enter. I was asleep until I heard the sound of the door open again. The man walked past James and opened the door to my cell. He took off the chains knowing I wouldn't dare hurt him with James still there. He then walked over to James and unlocked the door. He left James' hands tied.
"Follow me." The man said.
We walked up the cold stone stairs. I had to help James because it was still too dark for him to see. At the top of the stairs, there where many shadows looking at us. The room was silent.
"No stopping." The man said.
He pulled us along until we reached a big door. There were two guards, one standing on each side. They both looked at me and opened the door. The door opened wider and wider. My body felt weak. I could feel the anger and the hate that filled the room. My heart began to beat faster and faster as we walked closer. The man stopped.
"My King, the golden bow is here." The man stood behind us.
"Come closer." The King demanded.
I walked a little closer but my legs felt weak. My heart pounded faster and faster each step I took.
"The golden bow, show me."
I didn't want to but I had to. I had to keep my part of the deal. I had to get James to safety so he could find William and Ms. Alice. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, then opened my eyes. A bright light slowly filled the room. The golden bow was warm and comforting. The light became brighter.
"That's enough!" The King yelled.
The golden bow faded and I looked up. I couldn't see his face, but I could tell he was smiling.
"So golden bow, you said you would join us if I let your little friend here go free, yes?"
"Yes." I looked down. I didn't want the King of Darkness, my enemy, to see the pain I felt standing there. The feeling of hate was overwhelming.
The King laughed. "Well then, I will allow your friend to be free, but there is no guarantee he will forever walk free."
"The other part of the deal was letting me watch him go home. If you have a problem with what I ask, then you will never see the golden bow again." My fear turned to anger. I didn't want James involved in this.
"Fine, but remember, you break this deal and your friend will never be safe."
