Prologue: Observation Dairy

It's been three months since I've lost my last tail, thanks to my unparalleled DNA l can shift to any snake as long as I know the 'true name' otherwise I'd have been caught long ago.

I've traveled across a few states by getting in truck beds and I eventually found myself in a town named Aspen. Time to explore!

Day 1:

So far it seems like there isn't much fear of snakes here.

I stand corrected, the old ones hate us. An old guy went through the effort to grab a shovel to try and kill a rat snake... rude. I shifted into a sidewinder and came at him full force to scare him off.

Day 2:

I found a nice park, only four kids came by and one left a jacket... I'm taking it. I'm mostly cold blooded and nights are chilly. There's a basketball hoop with a tied up net so I brought the jacket up to slept there.

Day 3:

I kept waking up because of what I'm assuming are drug deals. Just a tip but, if what you're selling literally glows in the dark, don't sell it at night.

I hunted down a few mice and slept in the early spring sun all day.

Day 4:

The four kids came back and thought I was a bird that took the jacket... I tried to give it back but they thought I had venom so they ran off. I was in the form of a black rosy boa.

They came back after awhile with a dude probably in his twenties with black hair and green eyes, he kinda looked familiar but before I could actually think about it,he gazed at me with a dazzling smile... as he poked me with a branch.

Asshole.

I slithered up the backboard and waited for them to leave.

Day 5:

I stumbled upon a rattlesnake pit today. I've never been apart of a pit before... Monarch says that royalty should never indulge in such primal behavior.

I shifted into a Arizona Black Rattlesnake and joined in... it was pretty nice, not going to lie. Everyone was there for the purpose of avoiding the cold. No hierarchy, scheming, or... threat. I immediately got surrounded because my temperature is a little warmer than others, and with everyone squirming around one another, it was like a collective massage... quite nice indeed.

Day 6:

I found a school. The kids are pretty small though ahh... one of them just crapped themselves. I guess humans really do fear us. I'll just watch them more carefully now, from where they can't see me.

Day 7:

I was found.
