"Mayumi, what did she say before leaving?" The captain asked Mayumi. But he stopped his curiosity
when found her sleeping so sound. It was enough then he stepped back and returned to the kitchen,
watching the kettle and the flares of fire under it. He sighed and pressed his head.
Meanwhile above the granite house, Magee was almost passing by the old entrance of the mountain
which was filled with soldiers. Upon seeing the danger, she decided to move down and trekked below
the cliff. It was dubiously difficult and risky. She had to grab durable roots and at times swing, it was
until she reached some five hundred meters away and immediately camouflaged herself from the cliff's wild
vines. As she crept, she noticed that most of the soldiers were getting inside the granite mountain and
there were only a few who were left carrying some injured comrades from the warzone. In a while of
waiting, she carefully crossed the small path and went closer to the granite mountain's southwest wall
where station three was located. It was too silent outside and while she used a stone to knock its door then luckily, someone opened it cautiously. The lieutenant. He seemingly had found a ghost and right
away pulled her inside and closed the granite door.
" My goodness, Mag!" The lieutenant whispered and hugged her so tight.
" Huh! I've been waiting for them to get settled inside the granite mountain, but it took for almost an
hour, I guess they're called already for meal while some were helping their wounded comrades. Oh
dear, I felt I got so many sores and scratches from the thorny plants I've hang-on with." Then she smiled
yet teary eyed and leaned her face on his shoulder.
"Shh...quiet, calm down, everything will be alright, shh..." George pacified her while she still deeply
breathe. The people around were shocked. They could not imagine her passing through the enemy's
busy path.
Eunice drew closer and extended a bamboo mug filled with water to Magee. Some of the women
prepared a hot water for her to sip since they only have it. Station three already ran out of food.
Then on, after resting from his shoulder she then started to share their experiences and the messages she have
intercepted from the enemies when she eavesdropped in station one.
" Who could be the traitor then, hmm...but right now, we need to find some food." George said.
" Up there in our house, there's still some canned goods, Dad's never-ending secret vaults kept showing.
You can't believe it all." Magee smilingly uttered.
" It's his nature, such a wit and his plans even shields us this far. Okay Mag, I'll talk to my comrades for a
while, change of plan and route, interesting." George blurted then began to orient his comrades. Part
of the meeting had to proceed to the granite house and find some food for station two and three occupants that stays like sardines in station three. So they never wasted time. George had to bring
back his wife and four soldiers, including Baldur, Albrecht, Henry and Amado. When they're all set, they
watchfully got out and one by one crossed the path. Fortunately, all of them were able to safely reached the other side. Next was trekking the cliff where they had to experience passing through the
thorny vines. Later, despite the difficult way going to the opposite side of station three, at 2100 hours,
they all stepped inside the granite house while passing through the daylight optic hole. The captain was
elated , looking to his sons and daughter appearing in front of him.
" Where have you been people, it seems I haven't seen you in a century." The captain smiled while
Albrecht was astounded seeing his stepfather's knees and massage his feet and knees.
" Thank you Albrecht, where's Baldur? I saw him just in a while, where is he?" The captain uttered.
" He immediately went to Mayumi, dad." Magee answered while George prepared some ginger tea for
everyone.
" Hmm...George, what do you think is the reason why both sides (enemy and officer Orlando's ) are
using our group and fed their anger. Why they framed the attack meant for us and plans to put us on
crossfire, what do you think?" The captain asked.
" It seems the traitor likes me and knows you. What do you think?" George smiled while sipping his
ginger tea.
" Haha! Well-said. The traitor knows us, though can't guarantee that he/she couldn't betray and kill us
any time, I could feel that the traitor rush for our death this week, right? But how are they connected to
the third group? Those who have tried to hunt you with Baldur yesterday, it's so creepy, hmm." Edward
smiled once again.
" Dad, yes, there's a third group, there is. If the enemies hunted them too, this means its the group of
the traitor closer to us, or maybe he/she formed that group to play safe he'll tidy his/her hands over us.
That group is a dummy." George sighed as the captain was tapping his shoulder and smiled.
" You better take your dinner with them, I see Albrecht is preparing some oatmeal on bowls now, grab yours since we gotta have busy days ahead, need to be physically strong. Not me, still moving but I feel
I'm rotten inside."
" Magee told me what you did in the river with the soldier, your sting's still on. My snappy salute, dad."
Albrecht laughed while putting some leaves surrounding his knees.
" Dad just forced himself to save her daughters around. It was a terrible situation, good that he
smoothly did it." Baldur smiled.
" It's a tough day for all of us. Indeed. But I'm thinking if how could we move having two threatening
troops around us. However, I'm also analyzing if why that soldier who found this house – didn't tell his
comrades that this exist. The way I studied the entire house, no one has ever come since we left. Isn't
this interesting too? Why do they have to stay underneath and scattered inside like snails when this
house is a better shelter. Why..." The captain sighed and then closed his eyes as he began to sleep
beside Albrecht's arms.
