When she tried her best to look up, she could see the white deer preparing to charge and the panther standing over her guarding her. As she tried to stand up, even with her beat up leg she couldn't help but wince. The mental pressure plus the pain built up causing her to fall back on to her knees. That was when the white deer charged and the panther looked back at her. Am I going to let her take the hit for me? I mean, why not? I am only a kid anyway.
But what would the owner think am I worth more to him than the panther? Am I worht anything to anybody? Who would want a 12 year old orphan from the boonies anyway? Why are you protecting me?
Her eyes began to become blurry as she couldn't help but cry. Don't you want me, she said as she tried to look at the panther.
Growing up at the orphanage was always hard but what made it harder was always seeing her best friends get chosen over her. The older kids she looked up to, even some of those her age who she called sister, all whisked away to go live a life with a family. With people who want them. Yet she was forced to stay because even the gods didn't want her. Why her?
Everyday she would do her best to help take care of the other kids and make them feel as if they are welcome, but who was going to do that for her? Well, I guess the owner might not want me but at least he takes care of me and provides for us. And you panther, you didn't leave me back there. Did you want me?
'Whether you are wanted or not shouldn't matter all that matters is that you want yourself.'
Huh, what was that? I must be hallucinating close to death like those old people do. Well you do have a point though. Do I want myself? Do I like who I am?
I mean I guess so. I may not be pretty or special, but I am pretty special to me. Hahaha.
With that her eyes began to gloss over even further and she began to stand even with the injury and her mind became clear as day. Only one thought, kill. Kill all of them that would try to take my life away from me.
With pitch black eyes and now silver hair she climbed back onto the panther who seems to have felt it to. The bond. And so as the shadow energy began to flow into Sarah, they began to stand there bracing for impact as the white deer approached.
"Hmm, now that is interesting, maybe I will wait to step in then." A little bit further into the distance stood a silhouette observing the scene. Being the controller of the beasts he could always feel it when they have been disturbed. So he has been here for quite a while now, leaving the house and the kids under the watch of the caretaker.
Very soon the horde stopped moving, so that the white deer could finish its charge but right as it entered the encirclement instead of seeing the girl still on the ground incapacitated, he saw her perched firmly on the back of that black beast that has been pestering its horde for the last few weeks.
This threw him off ever so slightly. Seeing the moment of slight hesitation the panther deftly jumped to the side allowing for a heavy pierce from its rider. The first pierce landed but did an abysmal amount of damage, and so the white deer began to circle around for a second charge, which ended exactly the same.
After 3 more charges they seemed to get a feel for the battle as Sarah and the panther began to try out more movements. The white deer was unfazed by this though as he was ok with the girl attacking as she couldn't really hurt it. He was only held up by tring to figure out how to corner the panther.
After a few more exchanges the white deer became fed up with the current situation as it seemed to be getting nowhere and the girl panther duo seemed to be progressing in their cooperation even finding ways for the panther to sneak a few swipes in. Also, while the girl couldn't handle her power well, she was still throwing out some weird light balls everyonce in awhile that would occasionally blind it.
So the white deer finally halted and instead of charging once again, he began to sit completely still. Before Sarah could come to the realization that he was probably preparing a powerful attack, it was already too late as the entire deer horde began to encircle him as they did them earlier.
Feeling the great draw on energy Betsalel was preparing to step in, when he saw a much smaller stampede coming from the other direction and he couldn't help but carry a smile on his face. Before he left the manor he only told them that Sarah was in trouble giving them as litlle info as possible to keep them as far away from the battlefield as possible.
'Well I guess I will leave a little present. Hmm, when I return I should probably get the pots ready, no?' Laughing to himself, he disappeared amongst the shadows. Not before sending a shadow slash right at the feet of the white deer, disturbing its concentration and by proxy cancelling whatever power it was summoning.
Very soon multiple streams of blood began to fall from its nose as it laid down on the ground very weak. A second later the horde came to a halt. Seeing it lying there vulnerable Sarah and the panther made one more charge.
*Eeeeeeeeennnnnnhhhhh*
Before they could get close, the doe from earlier began to cry out. The cry seemed to be a call for retreat as the big deer picked up and carried the white deer as they made a break for it into the forest along with the doe. Then the rest of the horde turned toward Sarah enraged.
Although she was confused about who cancelled the white deers attack, she had an idea. Yet, these deer seemed to think it was her. As they began to charge at her another cry came from the rear.
*Aaaahahahahaaaahahah*
As she turned around, she could see her brother and sisters riding atop the ants charging over with the farming tools in hand. If this wasn't a life and death matter it would be a funny sight. 9 little kids riding on the backs of giant ants, with pitchforks, hoes, and rakes in hand.
As they drew near though the deer drew closer as well. It was then that one of those ants grew to 6 feet. It was Goliath and on its back wielding a pitchfork was none other than David. While she never had a crush on him per se, she couldn't help the fluttering feeling in her chest seeing him stand upon the back of Goliath like that. He looked like those famous sea king warriors from the stories that would ride into battle standing proud, trident in hand.
