Sarah and the Black Panther

The combination of the two energies seemed to give an exponential boost. Instead of a straight lightning propelled dash there was now an element of deception there.

Once again he began his onslaught of attacks. Very soon after, the fight ended and he was left sprawled out on the ground. As Betsalel began to walk off he said,

"You get it now?"

"Yeah."

It was an unyielding spirit. In the face of greater beings, refuse to be seen as lesser and refuse to be stepped on.

Of course, the bond would be built differently for others, but the bond itself is always the same. A pathway between the spirit of two individuals built by the wills of the two in question. Hoppefully you will get that soon, Sarah.

As time passed a couple more kids bonded with the familliars and developed bonds of their own. Very soon all but one of the ants had developed a relationship with the kids. That left 4 kids. The three toddlers and Sarah.

For some reason none of the ants wanted to play with her. Being a young adolescent female she couldn't help but let it get to her. Was she not fun, or likeable?

So before she gave up all hope she decided to give it one last shot, the panther. She noticed that still to this day no one ever came to play with it as everyone was just too afraid. And for good reason. It is just such a huge beast.

As she walked through the forest surrounding the manor, she saw a deer off in the distance. It was being trailed by the panther, probably going to be its next meal. As the panther prepared to pounce, the deer was spooked and ran. The panther began to hurry after it but the deer seemed to know the surroundings better and had tremendous luck as it would always seem to narrowly avoid a slash. Then the panther would slink back making the deer feel as if it had lost them then it would find the next spot to continue feeding.

This went on for hours, until Sarah decided to try and help. So she climbed a tree and brought down a decent sized branch before sharpening one of its ends stripping it. Then, when she saw the panther get ready to pounce again, she went to approach from the oppoasite direction, cutting off its escape route.

Right as the deer got spooked and was about to dash off in her direction, she popped out with her spear. Not late enough to where it was too close, and not too early where the deer would just steer into a different direction.

Knowing she was too weak to take on the deer by herself she placed the back end to the ground to take some of the momentum for her, just as she saw the owner doing during his staff workouts.

*Eeeennnnnhhhhhh*

The deer cried out as it fell with its full weight onto her leg as she couldn't move fast enough. Although it felt like she had broken her leg she knew that the village would pay for her medical bill which wouldn't be that much. So she felt that it was worth it. Especially so as the panther began to approach her in a friendly manner.

Just as she thought that it was going to let her pet it. The panther turned up its nose at her and walked towards the other side of the deer as if saying, 'I could have done it myself. No one asked for your help.'

Leaving Sarah their smiling to herself bitterly. At least the panther didn't leave her like the ants did. As the panther was pulling the deer off of her there was movement in the brush.

It was another deer, but this one had velvet like antlers and was so much bigger. Wait, no, it couldn't be.

*Weeeeeeeeenenennenenenenenenehehehehehehhhhhhhh*

As the doe cried out in sorrow, the sound of hooves began to descend in their direction. Spooked, the panther forgot about the deer and grabbed Sarah, tossing her onto her back. Although her leg was hurt, nothing but adrenaline was pumping through her veins. As she straddled the panthers back she made sure to hold tight to her spear.

If what they thought was coming was on its way, then they would be in big trouble. As they took off back towards the manor they began to see and hear the sound of trees falling in the distance forccing them to pick up speed, as the sounds grew nearer and nearer.

Very soon Sarah could see a line of antlers descending upon them from the rear it was a scary sight to behold. Although the deer in the back seemed smaller in comparison, the front line alone was made up of about 20, 7 foot tall, approximately 1000 lbs deer.

They could see the clearing off in the distance. Just a little bit more and we would be there. She couldn't help but to continually repeat that in her head over and over again.

Right as they made it out in the clearing the panther decided to hit a hard left. This proved effective as the momentum that the deer had was brought to a halt as they all had to turn and make a sharp left. Using this oppurtunity, Sarah and the black panther descended upon them with a fury.

Although Sarah wasn't strong, their teamwork was impeccable. Each time they charged a life was taken. For a second there they even seemed to have the upper hand, that was when the same doe that cried out in anguish earlier appeared at the edge of the clearing.

As she stood there overlooking the herd another deer strolled up behind her. This deer was different although yes it was taller than the big deer it was more lean. Also the color of its fur was a sparkling white and its antlers sparkled with silver.

For some reason, she couldn't help but feel a tremendous amount of fear well up within her. When its eyes landed on her it felt like the horde of deer began to stampede in her head and she couldn't help but cry out causing their charge to cease. Once they stopped, the white deer made a long call and the deer horde seemed to form ranks once again and they began to charge, not at them but around them in circles keeping them in position.

Due to their current power Sarah and the panther didn't aim for the big deer and had only culled the smaller ones. So now that the big deer were the ones surrounding them like this they couldn't help but feel the stench of defeat growing stronger.
