David and Goliath Part 2

"This agency, it doesn't exist yet does it?" Ahh he saw through my performance. Caught off guard I quickly recovered.

"You will never know, nor will you ever need to know. Now, back to what I was saying, you will train with me everyday from now on. You will accept missions from me whenever I have them and you will become strong. Now go and practice this technique, while getting familliar with your familliar. Also we meet in the morning on the field"

Everyday David began to meet me on the field and I can see his progression. He may not be the most agile but he had a resilient attitude. He would persist no matter the task I set for him. He not only had to do extreme workouts but also had to do his normal chores.

Even still, seeing the tremendous torture that David was going through some of the kids began to get jealous at his special treatment.

One day as David was on his way to put up his tools he couldn't help but take a break in the shed. As he sat there he was happy as he had broken through some kind of threshold and could now feel power coursing through him. Although he can't manipulate it or draw it out as effectively as the lord, he was still satisfied with the idea that he was stronger and can now somewhat look out for himself.

As he was sitting there, he began to feel a minor disturbance through his connection with Goliath. As he and Goliath got stronger he could now communicate with his familliar on a sort of primitive basis. During his training although he has been tasked with trying to draw energy from the environment to himself, he has always found it easier to poseess and wield the energy provided by Goliath.

Though he has become suspicious as everytime Goliath shows up he always has an abundance of energy, Goliath seems to love sharing with him. From what the lord told him, through his connection with Goliath they both mutually benefit. The skills that he learns Goliath can also use, so the trade off is energy for ability. It does seem quite mutual as the better he gets at wielding his powers Goliath will also have the same proficiency when discharging the abilities.

Little did he know that Bets was earning off of the whole exchange as well though. Betsalel realized that he might not be getting any more abilities through strictly leveling up for a while as he noticed that he didn't even get one when leveling up to level ten. So he was ecstatic to find that he has access to the powers of his subordinte. On top of that he receives a portion of energy on both sides.

It is like a cultivation pyramid scheme. Once again feeling the disturbance from his familliar, he was drawn back to reality again this time on high alert as the signal he just received was of distress. As he jumped up to assess his surroundings he began to hear steps approaching from outside of the shed. That shouldn't be, from the sound of the footsteps it seemed to be one of the orphans as both his and the masters footsteps are distinctly lighter due to our movement techniques.

Though he couldn't understand how his master was able to learn his movement ability, Light Flash Step, he was glad since his master was able to give him guidance. Even to the point of showing him how to effectively combine it with an art that master created, shadow slash.

As he prepared to attack he heard a voice on the other side of the door.

"David? Is that you?" The voice said.

"Huh, oh, Sarah you scared me." He finally exhaled his pent up tension. "Why are you out here? Shouldn't you be in the library reading?" Although he always wanted to tell her what happened he kind of got caught up in this new sensation. But, he can not forget his friends, and looking at her face, her beautiful face he knew what she was here for.

When David first arrived the other kids could tell that he wasn't always an orphan and he was ostericized because of it, but kids like Sarah never cared. To them we were all in the same predicament and it would make more sense to look out for each other.

"I know what you are here to ask and no I will not make it easy on you. All I can say is to get as close as possible to one of the creatures." With that he left. He knew that if he came right out and told her then she wouldn't be genuine in pursuing a relationship with the beast but instead try to coddle and suck up to the beast. Master Bets already said, 'They won't respect anyone of lesser spirit. How else can you build a mutual relationship?'

David understood that pretty well. Out of all the lessons he has received so far that has been the one that stuck with him. To be of equal spirit. At first it was a difficult ideal to grasp as when communicating with Goliath he could feel Goliaths' overbearing and monstrous persona. David was afraid that he couldn't perfect their bond because of it.

In order to have the most fluid exchange and the strongest of bonds, one must be one with their familliar. David was never overbearing or monstrous, so they would always find hiccups in their cooperation, and he began to fear that same situation happening on a real battlefield.

So combat it he began to truly try to undersand his familliar and find what links them together in the first place. It was a weird type of aura that brought them together and he felt if he could find what that was then their relationship would soar.

That is when he went to Lord Betsalel and asked for guidance.

"Lord, please I have already found the secret to our bond. I am just a step away. May you please, help me, one more time." He fell to his knees

"Haha, sure, fight me." The lord seemed to take pleasure in his distress and requested a duel. The lord claimed that he would only use 10% of his power, and David would be able to use Goliath.

It was as one sided as one sided could get. Each time David and Goliath would try to advance they would not only fail, but also pay for it. Even though their attacks were relentless they were always either a step too slow or missed completely. And as the fight was winding down and Goliath was on his last leg.

David moments from collapsing crossed gazes with him one last time. It was then as Goliath dispersed to go and recuperate in the tattoo on his arm that he felt it. The true bond.

Goliaths' energy permeated throughout his body and he could feel a bridge between himself and Goliath directly. The pathway unobstructed and shadow energy rushed into him like a tide baptising him. Even going so far as to enrage the spark of lightning inside of him turning it into a blazing spark.
