Mak had been running through the town for a quick security check, dodging people and the society in general. He was not much of a verbal abuser, he believed in fists. One wrong word around him and he had no qualms in executing that mediator.
Wherever he went, people who were a little more courageous, often asked him why he was still the left hand man when he was assumed more intelligent and powerful than BaBam. He had his reasons, he liked living in peace, the small respites were a necessity for him. So he left the busy schedules to BaBam, who was more than happy to boss around his legion.
And besides the fact that he loved his sworn brother, he always felt that Jackson favored BaBam more than him. Earlier they had been close, inseparable as kids, but with time, the struggle for power had drifted them apart. What was born was an awkward relationship where he often stayed quiet and listened to his sub-alpha silently as he talked. And Jackson liked to talk. A lot.
He landed on the roof of a handsome cottage, looking past the crowd on the streets, people from all backgrounds lived in this town and some were rich enough to wear suits, while the others were just peasants or artisans.
Looking at the colored ribbons and balloons tied around the wider boulevard, he further explored the place only to find that some kind of a fair was being organised. He glared, he didn't like such festivities, it only made him more annoyed by all the giggling and squealing of the crowd.
But he knew it was an important source of commerce, without such delicacies, his town would die out. Strength was one point, but other resources were also a must. Being the eldest of his pack, his opinion was considered, and it gave him a sense of relief, knowing his family wouldn't fall to the low standards set by their territory leader.
He wanted Jackson to live through the selfish manipulations and become the next territory head.
A shift had already taken place in the power strata, most of the villages and towns in Sarang had taken to mutiny, not believing in their current leader, which was a given, since the leader was a self absorbent and self obsessed jerk.
You couldn't run a pack being selfish, it wouldn't last long, and if you show any weaknesses, the others would take over. That was what their world supported as the ultimate rule. And their leader was becoming weak, so it was a perfect opportunity for Jackson to take over.

I jumped down the roof and landed in the narrow alleyway just across it. Pressing my red blazer to remove the crease, I combed back my hair to look more presentable.
I was in no mood to hurry back to the base, it was boring to just sleep around when no enemy tried to infiltrate.
The Challenge arc fest was about to take place this year, and I was very excited. I had my own reasons for being so anxious about it, but aside from that I wanted some adventure in my life.
Not long had I stepped out of the alleyway, did saw some panic in the near by avenue. People were appearing to be frantic and through my sharper senses, I heard a few talking rumors.
'Did you hear that BaBam got punched?'
'...that man came out of nowhere.'
'So did I, I thought...sweet smell... BaBam broke through...'
'Underling... I ran.'
Most of the conversation flowing around was cut off by some other conversation, while a few talked low enough to not spread their... lies?
I couldn't believe that BaBam got punched, he was strong enough to withstand even an alpha. His speed was well deserving of an applause and his style of fighting left no openings. Was he taken by surprise?
I rushed to a group that was about to cross past me. When they saw me they panicked, but I stood relaxed and maintained a safe distance from them to show I was not a threat. I was famous for my fleeting temper, I couldn't hide that.
Though they still hadn't relaxed in my presence, they did listen to me as I asked them what was happening. If my brother was in trouble, I had to leave.
"This guy came around the bar like an hour or two ago," spoke the blond middle aged man, he was shorter than me and a little stout. His voice did waver, but he did not falter, which was a good sign since I was losing patience, "and he ordered the cheapest alcohol available in the market. His clothes also weren't that fetching, so we thought he was a poor sod."
I tutted, annoyed, "I don't want to know about him, I want to know what happened to BaBam."
The man gulped and his two mates stepped back, but I didn't care, I was rather worried for BaBam. "W-Well senior brother," the man tried to please me with that added suffix, even though I was younger than him, "BaBam was punched by that man, and as far as w-we know, he did take a lot of damage. It was shocking to see him fly through the wall, it was... intense, that stranger's aura. A-Although he was no older than a youngster."
"You say he was poor, what does he look like?" The search for the culprit would take longer if he had escaped, but having a good description of him would be beneficial for the pack. And if anything happened to my brother... I clenched my fist, my jaws tightening. I was sure I would search heaven and earth for that bastard, and when I find him, I would torture him until the revenge was completed.
"H-He was tall and had a good built, he was handsome as well, with dark hair and eyes, b-but he had a strange sweet scent to him which could only be matched with an omega's."
Now I was pissed... Omega?
I growled loudly this time and took hold of the cowering man by his neck, one small flick and he would be dead. I watched as his mates quickly shuffled back and ran away from sight. And the gathering crowd around me only watched on with fear, they dared not move under my scrutiny... which was fine by me.
"Brother, please. I am only telling what I saw." The blond whispered, his wind pipe probably failing him, as his face was turning red.
"Brother Mak!"
I turned at the sudden intrusion, by smelling the soothing scent alone I could tell who it was. And just as expected, I saw Jae standing on top of the single floor storage house, near the corner of the avenue. He looked serious, which made me even more frustrated, "Jae."
He took it as a sign to continue, lifting his hat and settling it back down. He only did that when confused or bothered by something. "A fight broke out in the nearby bar just a minute back, I heard it from some pedestrians," then he checked the sky above which was cast with a cloudy hue covering the sun, it made the whole situation look foreboding. "And you must know our brother BaBam is involved, I heard an omega is as well."
Then there was no time to waste, further delay would have consequences.
I threw away the blond with anger, and watched him run away just after being released. I wanted to snap his neck for being annoying, but killing subjects would not earn me positive tokens, which at present was needed for Jackson's popularity boost.
"Is he alone?" I was talking about BaBam.
Jae shook his head negatively, "No, I could smell brother Jay, he is just a block away, he is with BaBam, but the scent indicates he is bleeding. And it is true that I smell another scent which is very sweet, like nectar."
"An Omega," I growled out.
"Then follow me brother."
I nodded. Jae had the sharpest nose of all the pack members, that is why we trusted his directions, he could never go wrong with it. At times I believed he could even tell who was lying by their scent alone, which was strange since none of us could do that. And above all Jae wasn't a beta or even a gamma, he was a lower class sigma, tasked with being the messenger of the pack.
Sigmas were just fast on their legs and stealthier, so for a sigma to have such strong scenting and smelling ability, it was not less than a miracle for the boy.
Alas, it seems that the omega kid was a miracle as well.

When both of us reached the half destroyed site, nearly 100 meter wide crater welcomed us, I could tell something or someone had a blast here. The strong stench of blood was telling.
But we found nobody there, like the life had vanished, gone.
Were we too late? Where was Jay?
"Brothe-" Jae started saying, but he was cut short, as both of us were send flying into the crater. All we heard before falling hard on our backs was someone saying, 'Ding Dooong~'
