Chapter Twenty Eight

It was crowded in the entryway. People were coming in and out of the apartment, my mother included. The wedding was in two days. I'd been sent out so that Adaria could try on her dress. Despite all the hustle she'd made time to find more evidence. I'd made her birth certificate and all of her other papers. All that there was left was to get my father to confess. We'd hoped to get the evidence before now, but we'd have to wait until after.

"Dear, please." I heard my mom say. I glanced into the living room.

"I'm sorry, but that's not possible." My father argued. I could almost see the stream coming from my mother.

"Why not?"

"Sweetheart, I haven't played in so long that it'd be an insult." She shook her head and sighed.

"Practice." She turned and went into the bedroom. There was a shriek from Adaria. I quickly ran over and opened the door. Adaria was covered in a blanket with my mother on top of her covering her mouth. My mother looked back at me. "Shut the door." She hissed.
